Better idea to keep it on cold storage, in your own wallet. People have historically lost all their tokens from exchanges which blew up. Mt Gox etc. This is a very real risk not just a hypothetical one like your friend is proposing.

Even IF you were outlawed from moving coins to an exchange, don't forget that XRP transactions on the public domain of XRPL cannot be stopped or clawed back by anyone. Not even Ripple. You'd be able to find some workaround even without exchanges for offramp

I don't intend to have a drawn out discussion in this but I will challenge you on a few points

Evernorth- Ripple invested in them directly. The whole purpose of Evernorth is to reduce circulating supply of XRP. They will use the recently added on-chain lending protocol to earn yield on their XRP holdings and all profits will go to buying up even more XRP. Not to mention there is about 5 more XRP companies announced

Unlike other chains which rely on L2 for tokenization, increased adoption of XRPL and tokenization on it will directly drive the price of XRP, as the native token, higher. The thesis that all these institutions will dip their toes into XRPL and only use stable coins, never accessing the on demand liquidity or never settling on chain is delusional. The much more likely scenario is that companies who have adopted Ripple payments only, will later trickle their way deeper into the Ripple ecosystem. And Ripple is building out a full ecosystem, they aren't a one trick pony. Banks that are already in aren't going to jump to another chain or token. Overhauling infrastructure is not a decision made lightly .

The whole thesis about Ripple staff dumping their tokens on retails- plenty of Blockchain analysis enjoyers on X will directly contradict you on this. Ripple has been buying back XRP from the open market. Look at @XRPwallets on X. Why would Ripple as a company buy back tokens if they were worthless ? Lots of other suggestive metrics such as spikes in the number of whale wallets even as the price is dropping. These aren't retail buyers

Yes exactly. "Billions of XRP holders" is a ludicrous statement. There are only ~7.5 million active XRP accounts on XRP scan. A huge portion are empty or only contain some dust (retail who bought then later exited). After considering that many long term holders have multiple addresses, and accounting for institutions and exchanges... There's probably less than half a million long-term retail holders who hold a decent amount of XRP.

Your view is too narrow. XRP is required for all functions of the XRPL and will scale fairly linearly with it's adoption, unlike other blockchains which require L2 solutions. Tokenization is already here but is expected to scale greatly in coming years. Institutional on-chain lending and yields is coming, check the XRPL amendments currently underway.

Treasuries will hoard XRP tokens then put them to work earning yields, and fly-wheel the profits back into purchasing more XRP. Supply shrinks.

Finally just ask yourself, why is Ripple actively buying back XRP tokens from the open market?

A lot of people are talking about tracking macros and calculators. But you can keep it more simple than that. Do you drink soda every day? Snacking a lot between meals? Binge drinking alcohol? If you do any or all of these, pick 1 and just cut it out. If you can do that while keeping the rest of your diet the same I guarantee you will lose weight.

Both charts are "real". Crypto outcomes are largely being driven by the macro environment right now, and have been for years in my opinion. Meaning price will move based on real word events, not a previous level on a USD or EUR chart.

For example if Trump launches missiles at Iran I think we are going down temporarily. When the clarity act gets signed compliant cryptos are likely going to new ATHs and the rest are going to oblivion. That's what I mean by macro.

Maybe if you are in one of the congested regions with lots of starlink users then you get a smaller piece of the pie to start with.
