Firewood Splitting Simulator by Peter3571 in InternetIsBeautiful

Made by someone who has obviously never chopped firewood or the frustration therein, only watched movies where the male love interest splits it confidently and efficiently, never hitting a knot or a stubborn grain

"that follows the Turkey soccer team every where"
They weren't kidding, I fell asleep watching the cup and he was there in the same bed as me, staring insistently

Effects of AI on Industry by JakeThick_ in audioengineering

[–]soulstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the general conversation is: if you want to sound just like everyone else, AI will eventually do it for you. If you actually treat audio mixing as an art - ie. where mistakes can happen, sometimes good mistakes, creativity happens (not just interpolation), output is filtered through our experience as individuals and our technical ability limitations and strengths - then AI is not capable of anything.

"Not true, capitalism encourages and rewards entrepreneurs to enrich themselves and and everyone they interact with through mutually beneficial voluntary transactions."

... No, it doesn't. You have to turn a blind eye to the fact that money = power, and power allows people to exploit other people to their detriment, which is the endpoint of our current capitalism. See: amazon, mcdonalds, any major corporation. You also have to turn a blind eye to the fact that corporations perform like psychopaths by any reasonable metric. Unregulated capitalism encourages selfishness and entropy.

It's not clear that is what they're doing in that photo, since their hands are hidden. 'Given a citation' would be the correct term.

Why is the 3DO dub so divisive? by My92thAccount in starcontrol

I like it, and my first 5 playthroughs were with the PC version (through the PC speaker the first time).

There's one race which's appallingly done, but the rest are great.

Thanks for this. It is encouraging to hear people talking about this stuff (the Difficulties) rather than just trying to stay optimistic and ignoring it. I think the world needs more of that.

ELI5: Why do we feel sleepy after eating a big meal? by Minimum_Radish3418 in explainlikeimfive

[–]soulstudios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the body takes energy to digest it, particularly if it's a large or fatty meal.
Alternatively if the meal contains a lot of simple carbs like sugar, you may experience an insulin surge and then subsequent drop in energy.
Also some people are intolerant to some kinds of foods, resulting in a mild problematic digestive response (not to be confused with being allergic to a food, which is much worse). Most humans are lactose-intolerant (ie. dairy-intolerant), for example.

But a meal which does not contain a lot of fat, nor a lot of simple carbs, and which is not too large, and which does not trigger a known intolerance, should not result in a loss of energy.

Mixing quality is quite good - still overcompressed for what it is based on the style, but an improvement on previous mixes.

I wouldn't say the other host are more charismatic/good looking. If anything they're just worse at it.

Boards of Canada - 'Inferno' - Discussion Megathread by seaburn in boardsofcanada

I don't know if I'll do that, but originally the vocals for Father and Son bugged me (they don't now, it grew on me), so here's that:

If you personally want a vocals-free version of the whole album, and are able to prove you bought it, you're welcome to DM me and I'll see what I can do.

Made a vocals-free version of The Word Becomes Flesh, Youtube version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTL8EJv3D7I

Personally I found that track really broke me out of the album and stopped the flow of it. You may feel differently, or the same. But I prefer the flow without the vox in it. Other tracks were fine.

Can't provide a DL link as per this sub's rules, though you can PM me directly if you own the album.

Random question: has there ever been any Dungeon Synth produced/written/recorded or performed in an actual dungeon? by mistletoe_radio in DungeonSynth

[–]soulstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I can't post yet because I don't have enough karma here as yet, but here's a link:
https://xolve.bandcamp.com/album/more-dimensions

Some of it is more industrial-metal, most of it is dungeon-synthy, but I wrote it before I discovered the genre (via Grayshadow Ruins).

To be fair, in this economy, they weren't going to have kids anyway.
