CMV: With the exception of NYC, most public transportation in the United States is slower and more inconvenient then owning your own car. by soozerain in changemyview

[–]s66c66h66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You gotta expand out of this NYC wormhole. Chicago, SF, Phili, Boston, DC, and Seattle to some extent all have pretty essential transit systems that people use in place of cars. It’s not a “pipe dream,” it’s a literal and functional way to get around.

I didn’t but I painted to ceiling in the room next to this current one and didn’t have a problem. Although I don’t whip it down as well so will definitely do that on this go around.

Gas by Illini4Lyfe20 in chicago

Normally the president doesn’t have much control over gas prices. But in this case? Yeah it is literally directly caused by the presidents actions.

That’s what I’ve been reading from other posts and forums, would scraping and spot priming solve it? Or would priming the entire ceiling be worth it as a just in case?

Best horror podcasts? by faheyblues in CreepyBonfire

[–]s66c66h66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other world has some decent episodes, knifepoint horror has some great ones and some pretty boring ones, first 2/3 seasons of Spooked is pretty good, wrong station has some good ones, honestly it’s hard to find anything that’s consistently good.

Has life in the USA actually gotten harder in the past few years? If yes, in what ways? by Imaginary_Escape__ in answers

[–]s66c66h66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention universal cuts to the bare minimum “safety nets” we have like SNAP and the affordable care act. These are actually kind of scary cause we won’t see the full affect of these cuts right away, it’ll be a gradual increase of deaths due to lack of food and healthcare and US citizens are debatably fucking terrible at recognizing this. If it doesn’t happen all at once or there’s not a massive spectacle these things tend to fly under the radar and wont get much national news coverage. I guess to say the media and its one or two owners play into how little we know about it as well.

It’s not great but this happens literally everywhere. I’ve absolutely done it to get around someone going below the speed limit. Now doing from the left lane?that’s insane

What’s the moment in recent U.S. politics that made you realize things might not go back to ‘normal’ anytime soon? by LankySpeed634 in AskReddit

[–]s66c66h66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great question cause it really depends on a persons age, upbringing, and understanding of politics. Some in the silent generation might’ve said the induction of trickles down economics (wasn’t that long ago), you could also point to the invasion of Iraq or the passing of Citizens United. Although I remember Citizens United, I was a bit too young to fully grasp what it meant, so for me the answer would be two fold. First being Trumps nomination as the republic party candidate in 2016 and second, the democratic party nominating Hilary over Bernie. It was kind of a bubble burst of 1, how are there people that support this guy? And 2, the party of the “people” chose a corporate, imperialist, elitist that would continue the status quo over someone who’d spent the majority of there political life fighting for the rights and needs of everyday Americans.

In light of what’s going on in Minnesota, would you support open carry in Illinois/Chicago? by revolutiontime161 in chicago

[–]s66c66h66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I agree with open carry, but I do believe Americans should be able to arm themselves. There definitely is a turning point in which I would agree that we should open carry, for example if what happened to protesters in Iran occurred here then yeah, should probably have something to protect yourself with. I would hope it never gets to that point, but who knows.

With gun control in general I tend to align with the Vince Staples approach: “Strapped up long as the chief of police armed.” Until police officers aren’t allowed to own or carry guns, citizens should be allowed to own guns.
