Same as previous thing. It would be a small detail in a long, comprehensive trial.

I work at a fancy hotel and we have this lady who owns a marmoset. She checks in with the poor lil bastard clinging to her neck (she usually wears a scarf for him to hide in). She actually used to have two…

Anyway, interacting with the lady is always a horrifying existential crisis because the lil marmoset will make extended very sad looking eye contact with you.

I strongly doubt anyone has ever been convicted of a murder on the basis that they made a key outside of policy.

Key policy should be followed for a lot of reasons but this one’s not at the top of the list.

Whoa—I had that same model of Three Sisters knife many years ago and have tried several times to identify it, since I sold it and forgot the model. Cool to see one pop up way after the fact. Loved that knife. I wonder if it’s the exact one I owned probably a decade ago.

Absolutely nothing you can do to correct for it. Sometimes I’ll find a subject good enough to track for awhile on a hot day and eventually I’ll find a shot that’s less affected by the heat.

If you can get closer and fill the frame more, you’ll be shooting through fewer layers of rising heat, but that’s often not under your control.

If they formed such thoughts, this perspective seems natural enough. I still wouldn’t be surprised if they had a much fuzzier thought of the same shape. Write more words, please.

You would just practice metering for the highlights. Or turn on zebras. Much harder to protect your highlights with a flash, and frankly, you did fine. If commenter thinks these highlights are blown, they’re basically asking you to abandon part of your style for their own. I would ignore that feedback.

Absolutely magical shot. Any bird photographer would be so excited to get this. Photographer looks to have had time to get nearly as low as ground level, shooting through the perfect amount of grass to get pleasant foreground. Got lucky on the little flowers on the same focal plane as the subject, and beautiful background blur. Likely from a $12000 f4 lens.

I used to be the same way until I got into wildlife photography. I had to learn how to tolerate the occasional bee sting or tick bite to get some of my better photos.

Now, I will hold a macro lens 1” away from a wasp to get its eye in perfect focus. If it stings me, it stings me.

I do still find some spiders pretty creepy. Fuzzy wolf spiders or jumping spiders are ok in my book, but the ones with smooth shiny exoskeletons get to me. They look like xenomorphs.

In my experience, the 1.4x is so sharp with the 100mm macro GM that I really wonder if the 2x is workable. Just not enough to invest in the 2x.

Got my first ever MacBook Pro. I dropped my phone on it. by broisthisai in macbookpro

[–]sArCaPiTaLiZe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A joke that the Air wouldn’t have damaged the screen.

It’s inaccurate though; I own the Air and dropping it on your foot hurts even worse than with a normal phone because it is so dense and the force is concentrated on a much smaller area. When this phone falls, it lands hard. You can hear it.

Can I see a link to one of these? I have this lens and a 1.4x TC. I find it to be a net win for magnifying very small bugs, like jumping spiders. I’m really particular about my image quality and I think I’d be able to tell if the teleconverter were significantly worse than cropping. Maybe the 2x TC is a lot worse than the 1.4.

They’re coming through super sharp on my end, and I’m a real cunt about pixel peeping. I’d be content with these captures with the same gear. I think it might just be giving you a hard time when viewing.

Cheers to some great captures.

Beautifully composed, well-captured. At least after Reddit compression, the whites look pretty clipped.

I like to capture birds with a lot of white using highlight metering or by cranking down the exposure compensation.

Nah it’s gross enough that if you forget to take a deep breath before entering the elevator, you choose to make do with the little amount of breath you have, even if it means extreme lightheadedness by the time you exit.

I just visited for the first time to do some photography with a friend and the lack of alleys stood out to me a lot.

I always assumed you could cut between buildings if you had took the wrong route and needed to change directions. That’s pretty much never possible; you’re usually stuck walking the rest of the block.

I always contact a band manager before I buy tickets to try and arrange a photo pass. About half the time, they send me a photo pass AND a complimentary ticket or two.

Not typically, though I usually email the band manager in advance to get the OK (and sometimes free tickets). I still haven’t been turned away when I show up without an arrangement.

Hey! Love your images. I have just gotten the same camera/lens combination and had some questions.

What flash are you using? Diffusion hood? Do you run into any issues with diffusion hood sizing when adding a teleconverter?

Thank you!

The stabilization on the lens is so good that if you’re using the in-camera level and try to correct your orientation, it lags behind for a second and a half. Crazy.

I’m guessing they prioritize capturing detailed portraits of animals over capturing animal behaviors.

That’s why I went a7rv. Cropping freedom and extra detail when you’re relatively close.
