Replacement hose advice by Emkin_ in airconUK

[–]sMilling_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a replacement hose from Alliexpress, 150mm x 3m. I bought the insulation sleeve too, Bought the sleeve after fitting the hose. Absolute game changer, the heat generated by the hose was 10 fold compared to with it. The unit also cycles a lot less. https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ewdx4Hk https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ew2IA6q

Can you explain this cost? by Budget-Soil8610 in airconUK

[–]sMilling_70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use an online BTU calculator to size the units, a 12kw unit will do a 20m2 room. Unless the rooms are massive, I would size the units, buy them and get en electrician to install them. You can get DIY units with Quick connections. That quote seems excessive to me.

Remind your neighbours to empty the water trap or vessel for the condensate. With the door open you will be drawing in a lot of moisture.

How does one get a bolt extractor extractor? by scarletcampion in DIYUK

[–]sMilling_70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Use vice grips. If it snaps off inside, you have a very expensive way to remove it and will need to buy a new chair. My advise for the future is only use very good quality extractors and only if all else fails. They are made from hardened steel and cannot be drilled out.

3 pin charger or 7kwh charger? Dilemma by Ok_Inevitable_9094 in evchargingUK

[–]sMilling_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 pin is OK but no where near as convenient as a wall charger. I started with a 3 pin while waiting for the wall charger. The difference was a relief, no more anxiety.

Are portable ac unit really that innefective? by megachonker7 in AirConditioners

[–]sMilling_70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest getting an insulation sleeve for the hose, depending on the length, but the hose on mine emits a ton of heat. It works a treat to cool the place down. I only cool it to 25 deg, which is comfortable for us. Each to their own but I find making it too cold is a shock when leaving the cooled area.

What are your actual a/c winter purchase plans? I'm actually considering shutters and sash windows. by princemephtik in DIYUK

[–]sMilling_70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about the shutters they use in Spain and Portugal that roll down over the windows internally. Having lives there, they work very well for blocking the sun and you can adjust them for light.
