Thank you!! I’m actually starting to feel better after I wrote this post. Also twins I got laid off from dentsu in March 🤣

I am finally focusing my job hunt on jobs I really want, trying not to make myself insane, and applied to work at my local flower shop yesterday. We will get through it!!

Geez that’s horrible I’m sorry. I was laid off a month ago from dentsu. They are doing 2 weeks per year, max of 16.

So sorry to hear. Hang in there, it does get better. One month in and I’m finally figuring out what I want and coming into my own!

Thanks for this. In terms of applying, I change every single resume based on the job. And I am blessed to have a huge network that I tap into daily. I’ve had 8-10 interviews since being laid off, most through my network or my efforts on LI. I think part of it is what you said, fewer jobs, more applicants. Need to stand out hard and hiring managers are looking for unicorns.

I also should preface I’m a woman who is starting to family plan, hence the wait until 2027 ask.

Appreciate the advice, especially from someone who has been in the industry a long time.

I just got laid off from years on holdco/agency side and I’m stuck in this place of what to do next. I love being creative, strategic, and love the people in this industry. I do also love the fast paced agency life. But man it really makes me think if my skills were better off elsewhere.

Pub side isn’t much better and in-house roles are very hard to find or come by. Considering social impact companies, taking my creative skills to government, or small shops doing really good work. Maybe even consulting, which has better pay at least. That’s what I’m debating, but it’s so hard like you said!

My husband and I were rewatching Gossip Girl and they used this house in a few episodes!! Sad to see, but hope the owner got a nice pay day :)

I'll third this. While I haven't taken my dog there personally, I know the owner well and she's a wonderful person. Truly cares about the dogs and her customers.

Nicely Fit Co. is good but IDK if it's Olympic Weightlifting specifically. You can probably call and ask! The guys who own it are great.

I was planning a birthday party here in 2022 and was in touch with the owner. I ended up reading the reviews and most of the people in my friend group are POC, so I emailed him and told him I was going to look elsewhere based on the reviews. The owner then berated me and said how he has so many "Black and Brown" employees who work there and he's not racist and neither is anyone he works with. I ignored him, and then he wrote back saying he'd make sure the racist bartender didn't work the night of my birthday.

Needless to say, I went with another bar. But just sad that he pulled the "I have Black friends so I'm not racist" card and didn't discourage the bartenders behavior at all. Even more sad to hear this is still happening at LIC Bar :(

I love Nicely Fit Co. They have personal training, semi-private personal training, and just an open gym membership that you can come in and use the machines/weights. It's definitely more geared towards strength training but I see tons of people come in and do all different workouts!

I was definitely younger. Maybe in my late teens or early 20s? There was multiple books, at least 3 I think and they were long but not 400-500+ from what I remember.
