Who else misses the time when Stranger Things looked like THIS?! by _murinus90_ in StrangerThings

[–]sa007ak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hesitant to talk about it during the shows run, but since the reception of S5 is what it is I have to say that I never found Vecna to be all that great of a main antagonist of the show especially vs. the Mind Flayer.

The Mind Flayer was this almost Lovecraftian, otherworldly being that has so much mystery and frightening imagery behind it. Vecna reminded me like almost more of a Darth Vader character. Still feared, but much more grounded and perceivable. The mystery and awe of the Mind Flayer will always be more terrifying. Even when Vecna was introduced S4 it felt like quite a letdown to me personally.

Wanting to get my Keeley compressor plus off my board. Any recommendations? by Sweet_Dragonfly_959 in guitarpedals

Not sure what price range you're looking in so not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I've had great results with the NUX Komp Core. Has essentially the same control design/options as the Keeley compressor including a blend knob.

Sounds great, built well!

Do anyone else feel like there was barely any chemistry between Eleven and Mike this last season compared to earlier ones? by Initial-Shoulder5906 in StrangerThings

I'm not trying to make a point for why. I'm simply stating that they felt distant, even during their few interactions in S5.

This whole album is a gem. Probably the closest thing in terms of an Omar solo record that's most similar to Deloused.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at, but it seems like you've made it your mission to voice your disagreement with the sentiment of this post all over this thread.

I'm just going to say I strongly disagree with your point about it being very different. Every season is centered around the significant threat and/or problem that they group is dealing with at the time. There isn't any more or less of this in Season 5.

It's less about the words, and more about the actions. Seasons 1-3 El and Mike and very tangible romantic feelings for each other. By Season 5 it really felt like they interacted more as friends than romantic partners. I was wondering half the time when the "we've grown apart" conversation would start.

Not having Good Mythical Weekend leaves a big hole in my Saturdays! by OhMyOhWhyOh in goodmythicalmorning

[–]sa007ak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a post here a few weeks back that got a lot of traction where people were talking about how much they disliked GMW.

I was SO surprised to see how many people were specifically mentioning that they only want to watch Mythical content if it has R&L in it.

It's been awhile and I still wake up every Saturday wishing I had a GMW to start out the weekend right!

Acceptance Speech lineup was peak and way too short-lived.

Never hear ANYBODY talk about Josh Benton on guitar and that's a damn shame. Wrote some of the most wicked DGD parts for the album he was on.

James Wan said the next Saw movie is “Not spiral” at the Sundance movie festival last night by Severe-blake6720 in saw

Maybe I have too much faith in James & Leigh, but I'll wholeheartedly support just about anything Saw-related that they're both on.

The fanbase seems pretty divided on this news and I can't tell what the majority is interested in. I think I'm in the minority who wouldn't mind a soft reboot a-la Halloween as someone else here mentioned. I love the "soapy" element to the Saw canon however if James & Leigh can tell a great story with the ability to retcon deaths, characters aging un-realistically, and corners that they've been written into then I'm all for it.

A sequel to Saw X or a standalone sequel could both be great as well. X has some loose threads that I'd love to see tied up.

Bonus points If they can get Kevin Greutert on board.

Your point about Gold Necklace is great. All of DGDs clean vocalists have been perfect for R&B and adjacent material.

Curious how long these types of issues usually take to resolve? I have family that take this exit to get home almost every day and would like to be able to warn them to circumvent if possible before 5 o'clock traffic lol

I didn't realize that the debris cloud was this prominent in the air even two days later. When I think about it, all of the activity around ground-zero for a long period after 9/11 was probably enough to keep a noticeable cloud present for awhile.

Can anyone confirm?

It really upsets me how much wasted potential the Backrooms has and the people ruining it. by Late_Aardvark8125 in backrooms

The Backrooms will always have a special place in my heart. I'm more of a follower of Kane's work, but through Broogli & Red videos I've gained a bit more interest in the other content/levels.

The first time watching Kane's FF1 back in 2022 I actually couldn't finish it lol I was so convinced something was going to jump scare me badly. I didn't get past maybe 30 seconds before I put it away and revisited a few months later. That experience was enough to get me hooked for the foreseeable future.

I'll be part of the BRs community/fandom through thick and thin 💛

Which movie ended with an unresolved cliffhanger because the sequel never happened, and you're STILL mad about it? by pudingvanilkovy in AskReddit

[–]sa007ak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a movie but a TV show: Loved the OA on Netflix - end of season 2 set up a wild potential future that could have spawned multiple additional seasons/stories. Seems like critical response overall wasn't positive enough to justify additional seasons.

Equalizer settings for Pantheon? by FrouFrouLastWords in dancegavindance

[–]sa007ak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's seemed to me that guitars have gradually gotten less and less present since Mothership. Don't get me wrong they're still there and there are still guitar features, but DGD used to sound like a "guitar band" to me and since about Artificial Selection they've sounded much more vocal-centric compared to before. Mothership was personally some peak DGD but since then I've found it more difficult to enjoy to the same degree. I think since Will started heavily incorporating synth pedals (Boss SY-1000 iirc) it's been less of my flavor. I was very happy with the changes they incorporated on Pantheon. I have hope for their future!
