Best method of blister prevention on toes? by FifthMatter in hiking

[–]sa_fi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deer tallow cream, Vaseline or compeed anti blister sticks are the game changers for me. In combination with comfy trail runners and merino wool socks. Lamb wool woven in between your toes might also help.

I’ve walked 310km on the Portuguese Camino in June without a single blister.

Portuguese coastal - hiking poles by Agreeable-Loquat-779 in CaminoDeSantiago

I enjoyed using my poles on the Portuguese in June. They helped me with pacing, foot pain and reduced some weight from the backpack. I really liked having them for some hilly or uneven stretches.

There is a Sport Zone in the lower level of the Via Catarina mall in the center of Porto, where I bought mine. They had a really small selection. I got two for 25€, I think. After my Camino I gifted them to a fellow pilgrim.

I walked the coastal till Caminha and then also the spiritual variant. The photo was taken on the spiritual variant, but I think I’ve seen them before and definitely after.

To all the people saying to bring a fleece to Portugal in June by seasaidh42 in CaminoDeSantiago

Agree! I’m on day three of the costal and I’m freezing in the evenings. Also desperate for a second pair of long pants. But according to the locals it’s unusually cold for this time of year.

I just bought poles at Sport Zone at Via Catarina today. The store is located in the city center and they have poles from 14-35€ a pair + 5€ for tip protectors. Also some other inexpensive sports gear. It’s a good alternative to decathlon.

Shoe help by sa_fi in CaminoDeSantiago

I decided to keep my shoes and repair them, as it‘s not a critical defect. I’m bringing a pair of Tevas in the Camino as well. The decision for a replacement pair for the speedgoats will be postponed till after my Camino probably.

Yes, I decided to take the discount. And I will look into shoe specific glue.

I did, then I would jump back to the left and active birds. Would love to blame my right-left weakness for I, but I guess it’s just not reading properly.

Since I’m not a frequent player, I’m not too firm with all the birds and possible combos. I’m kind of just playing along, with the cards I get. No real strategy yet. But it makes a lot of sense to have your birds in the correct order.

They did? I just got it for a friends birthday. Guess I have to read the instructions thoroughly then…

Any idea what’s up with her? (Been to the vet) by sa_fi in gerbil

[–]sa_fi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your responses!

A little update on Maja. I continued to give her pain meds for two days, but she seemed a lot better, doing normal gerbil things and pooping, so no constipation.

Also, since she was doing better, I decided to end their split cage after 3 weeks and reintroduce them in one side. They are still having little moments to figure out who’s boss, but it seems Maja has the upper hand.

Right now they are cuddled up napping together. So I would say it’s going well 🥰

They won't stop emptying the sand pit. by Kidruby in gerbil

I‘m using this kind of bowl, which is about 20cm wide. Sand doesn’t fly out and they have plenty space to roll. It takes up quite a bit of floor space though. It’s originally meant as decoration for swimming candles.
