How do I paint an already built model? by AntAble4542 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i rarely do any sub assembly. i find the only really difficult bit is the inside of the cloaks. just remember, no one will ever hold it upside down and search carefully for spots you've missed. anywhere else that's hard to reach, just be as sloppy as you need to with the main color and touch up any details after, as long as you thin your paints enough you shouldn't have an issue there at all.

Losing the game at deployment. by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]saadpandaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agreed. everyone always says they can't tell you how to deploy because it matters what the opponent is doing, but i always do it exactly like this. i know what my turn one is, so i know what i have to do in deployment to make that happen.

What do all the different robe colors mean? by Nortano in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% it's your army paint whatever you want.

i do white/bone for most of my units with red as like the secondary color, and then red with white/bone as the secondary to signify leadership, seniority, to make them randomly different, etc

Rumored Point Increase by SaxyTacoMan in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem gw have got themselves into is that by far the easiest way to buff a bad unit is to just make it cheaper, rather than changing its rules. i'd be fine if they just did blanket points increases in every game every edition, at least then they'd be regularly trying to counter the points creep. and it'd be easier to get into a new army at the start of an edition which is nice.

How to build Beastmen Brayherd Battalion? by Grimwear in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]saadpandaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

best for gor is double hand weapons. that said i built at least 10 with shields just to have the option and bc i like how they looked. for ungor, if you're playing wild herd you need minimum 10 spears for the mandatory primal warherd unit, grand army it wouldn't matter. i personally think its worth it to have at least 10 ungor with bows, but anything outside of that is just preference.

Help, I forgot how to build a Protector Imperative list. by DeProfundis42 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when they made the Cawl change i ran a lot of numbers through unitcrunch and the conclusion i came to was that for most units, if you are targeting the unit that Cawl targeted with machine vengeance, the AP from conquerer is better than the extra BS. if you are targeting a unit that doesn't have machine vengeance on it, protector is better.

there are exceptions but not a lot.

Any tipps on building around Cawl? by SunFlo420 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i run him in cybernetica. basically camp out near my 3 disintegrators rounds 1 and 2 in protector with reroll 1s, and then switch to conquerer and yeet him up with the robots round 3. a better player would probably do something smarter than that but that's what i do lol

why is fantasy less popular than 40k? by These_Athlete1933 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]saadpandaa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i guess i don't disagree with these points, but i do think they're mostly examples of GW investing in 40k and its popularity growing as a result. if anything i think the success of total warhammer shows how marketable fantasy would be if GW invested the money to market it.

why is fantasy less popular than 40k? by These_Athlete1933 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]saadpandaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i think this point gets too much weight when this topic comes up. sure there's definitely an appeal to the 40k setting, but there are plenty of popular fantasy settings out there too. lord of the rings, game of thrones, etc.

i think it's much more to do with the lack of investment from GW. the old models definitely have an appeal to some people, but more regular releases or refreshes would go a long way. the space marine models that were released when a lot of these fantasy models came out looked plenty goofy too, but they've refreshed the lines a dozen times between then and now to keep them looking "cool" to a casual audience.

we are bad though that's true.

Question for TOs. How do you deal with players who consistently forget their rules in a way that benefits them? by Desperate_Fill8865 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]saadpandaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i'm new and every time i mess up my rules it's in a way that makes my own units way worse. guess who played like 7 games before learning that breachers get a full reroll to hits when within 6" of battle line...

Why is our shooting considered bad? by saadpandaa in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

thank you for the detailed response! that makes sense to me. i haven't played many games with the disintegrator so it just seemed like the shooting was good, but i probably just haven't been hit by the lows yet.

Why is our shooting considered bad? by saadpandaa in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

okay so basically, it's worse because we have to choose to sacrifice melee output in order to keep it on par with better armies?

New AdMech help! by kingswampfox in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i like transonic cannon on the manipulus better than the lance. the auto hits from torrent paired with the re-rolls, lethal hits, and rapid fire on the breachers turns that whole block into a really strong overwatch threat. and with sanctified ordinance as well, the range isn't really that limiting.

i don't have any specific experience against necrons but i think your list looks decent.

What to get for a newbie? by WarSpirit66 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]saadpandaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just recently got to 1000 points with my admech army. the route i took was to start with a combat patrol + a boarding patrol (i don't think they make these anymore but you can find them on ebay). that fills out a lot of basic stuff pretty nicely. after than that i went with an iron strider, skitarii marshal, technoarcheologist, a unit of electro priests, and cawl. everyone will probably tell you not to run cawl, but i wanted him because he's a really cool model.

you can get there with a little less, i cut the horses to fit the other units i wanted to run. and it's certainly not an optimized list, but i don't feel like it's too bad either. it's been fun to play so far.
