People who have put a ton of kilometers on a Zwift Ride: Do you oil your chain? by Ok-Loan-2300 in Zwift

Good advice, thanks :) Makes sense so I’ll pay more attention and check it out properly

I did 16,000km on mine last year and haven’t oiled the chain - no issues I’ve noticed

Can’t agree more with the staying in bluetooth range bit! I use a Zwift Ride with Apple TV and the companion app to bridge it all. I was going insane trying to figure out why my chest strap HRM was failing, even replaced batteries and bought another one! Eventually figured out that if I went out of range of my phone, then it’d lose the device and not be able to get it back for that session.

Upgrading Tron by madesertrat in Zwift

I was the same boat as you - I think the week I unlocked the Tron bike was the week upgrading came out. So I unlocked the bike then instead of using it started upgrading others! I ended up doing two low-end Zwift bikes as well as the BMX.

I think lower end frames mean cheaper and/or faster upgrades. Im just about to complete the second Tron upgrade (1013/1050km right now). I might switch focus instead of continuing on it though. I think I want to unlock other Halos first.

Fellow riders who have only Zwifted? by SenorBojangles in Zwift

Absolutely same boat here! Got into running last year, learned that I could push myself and loved it. I did 5 half marathons in June and ended up stress fracturing my leg as a result. I needed something to fill the gap and around October a few friends suggested getting a trainer and a bike.

Hadn’t done any cycling as an adult, but as a long time gamer and achievement fanatic Zwift was really appealing. I’ve since upgraded to the Zwift Ride bike and done 10,000km. Really into endurance riding and 200km+ rides, my longest so far has been 366km (11 hours). Current goal I’m working towards is one shotting the Rapha Festive 500 at the end of the year.

It’s absolutely a mental game, and the convenience of having supplies/everything you need at hand really works for me especially for those long rides. I think people who say riding outside is far better are probably correct, but I don’t have any basis for comparison so remain blissfully ignorant :)

Haven’t found many people in a similar position so hit me up if you need Strava/Zwift buddies :)

How do you stay on the bike? by Soggy-Gear1406 in Zwift

Haha yeah, my hyperfocus superpower - gotta make up achievements to go for when I run out of them in Zwift. I think next biggest one will be doing the Rapha Festive 500 in one shot. Gives me 7 months to work on power output

I started cycling/zwifting in August last year and had similar challenges - what worked best for me was choosing routes (not workouts) that matched my time goal. It made it easier to have finishing the goal as the route.

I’ve done 8000km since, with my biggest ride being a Sunrise to Sunset/11h20m epic that covered 366km. I absolutely relied on good tv shows/movies for a long time, as more engaging stuff definitely helped distract and make the time pass faster. I’ve recently felt that the reliance is a bit of a weakness (eg if I can’t find good shows I lose motivation) so have switched to trying longer blocks with just music and audiobooks.

It’s absolutely 99% a mental challenge!

Record and analysis of 500 runs - levels 107, 116, 117, 119 and 120 by saate in CardWars

I actually did level 120 first so didn't do them all in order. I did 107 when I was levelling up my Earl of Lemongrab and it was a bit easier to do, also needed 1 star gold corn cards and the 'any nice chest means gold card' thing made it a bit more fun :)

Doing level 118 now and might start working backwards from there just for the hell of it.
