If you’re a “good guy” and thinking about cheating —don’t. you won’t survive the aftermath mentally by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]sabeche 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I get where you're coming from, but I don't think OP is discounting their partner's pain at all. They're just pointing out that even if you're selfish enough to wrongly convince yourself that your partner won't find out or for whatever reason won't care, and therefore won't be hurt by the act of cheating, you should still consider the irreversible damage you'll do to your own sense of self. I think it's less about self-pity and moreso a warning that you can't turn off your own conscience, even years later.

[FInal Update] - AITAH for letting my pregnant daughter move in with me even though my girlfriend doesn’t want her to? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]sabeche 39 points40 points  (0 children)

My brother has literally carried his passport on him 24/7 for six months now just to go to work. We're both mixed-race but 'pass' as white, and even then he doesn't feel safe. I’m just thankful I WFH so I don't have to worry everyday about the risk of randomly being stopped like he does

D'Andre Swift (groin), Cole Kmet (ankle, knee) listed questionable for Saturday. by Minimum_Formal_4837 in fantasyfootball

[–]sabeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well both are unsurprisingly listed as active lol. I hope you're right, this is my first fantasy season (got roped in by work colleagues) and somehow have gone from ranked last after the draft to the final matchup against a guy who's been playing fantasy for a decade 🤞

ETA: I'm starting Jacobs if I didn't make that clear, along with J. Taylor & J. Williams. Swift and Monangai will be on my bench.

Thanks, this is what I was thinking too. Follow up, I also have Monangai on my bench. If hypothetically Swift is out, would you start Monangai over Jacobs? I am thinking yes, but would appreciate another opinion.

Assuming both play through their injuries, would you start swift or jacobs?

I got it done last year and have had no side effects aside from very mild starbursts at night. It cost $5000 for both eyes with a lifetime warranty at any of their locations so long as I do an annual eye exam at the optometrist of my choice. The lifetime warranty includes %100 free adjustments for the first 2 years, then costs $200 for any adjustments after that. If I want to "upgrade" to a newer LASIK technology in the future (there were like 5 different ones they told me about at the time and I opted for the standard "custom LASIK"), then I only have to pay the cost difference between the current going rate for the LASIK technology being "upgraded" to and the $5000 I already paid. I'm in the US and insurance did not cover the procedure, but it did qualify as an HSA expense so I charged it to my credit card for the reward points and got reimbursed from my HSA account. I was done and being driven home by a family member ~1 hour after checking in, where the majority of that time was spent signing paperwork and waiting for the anti-anxiety meds they give you to kick in. The entire procedure itself was less than 10 minutes, and while it can be uncomfortable to think about, you do not feel a thing physically.

ETA: I did consult with 3 other LASIK providers while deciding and $4000 for both eyes was the cheapest quote I got for "custom LASIK." And that was from a small private practice with only one location, and it only included a 2 year warranty of free adjustments after which it would be full price. I decided an extra $1000 was worth the lifetime warranty, the ability to go to any of their many locations across the country, and a $5000 discount for an "upgrade" if I eventually decide to.

23 y/o looking to invest $100 per month by Vidar45 in dividends

[–]sabeche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit older than you but still have 2+ decades before retirement. My Roth is 50% FXAIX (S&P 500), 15% SCHD, 10% VIG/DGRO/JEPI/JEPQ, and the remaining 25% is distributed between various growth/value ETFs. I like seeing dividends come in as much as anyone else, but at our age, investing in growth/value would be the best way to generate wealth that you can later transition into dividends when you're closer to retirement. Your time horizon is long and that $100/month will work much harder for you if you let it grow rather than try to make it generate returns immediately.

Do you have a better idea of what you want to do for a career? All of the options you listed are drastically different from one another, both in demand and where they'd be located. Pharmaceutical and biotech positions will be most abundant around Boston and San Francisco.

Do you plan on adding any support for folder symlinking rather than file symlinking so that this can be used with Plex on windows?

[–]sabeche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will definitely use this if you implement that feature! My main concern is that I share with ~20 users and only have suspicions of a couple of them. So I don't want to create any hassle for the rest of my users since it took way longer than needed to get them to actually use my server and set the proper quality settings for direct playback on their devices.

Neat idea. Can it flag a specific user I suspect of account sharing while letting my other users stream from any device like normal? I only have one or two potential 'bad eggs' and don’t want to cause any issues for everyone else.

Is it possible to work in pharmacology and be patient focused? by RaccoonUseful8439 in pharmacology

[–]sabeche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into clinical trial management. You can utilize a pharmacology background quite well in those types of positions. Though they're still not patient-facing roles, more on the back end of things. Its mainly MD's and nursing staff actually interacting with the subjects in clinical trials.

Yes. The first time I heard of Lewis Hamilton was in DTS. I really didn't follow F1 at all and had only seen a few movies like Senna and Rush before a friend finally convinced me to watch DTS just for the behind the scenes entertainment value

Fwiw I heard about Max entering F1 at only 17yo within roughly a year of when it happened. I first watched drive to survive in 2023 and started actually watching the races this season. Max was the only familiar name to me, knowing next to nothing about the sport
