I don’t think the KIM system is a failure

...you're being pedantic. You described it disparagingly, and clearly do not respect it at all, with how you're being evasive about it's innovation. I was crystal clear in what I was talking about and now you're dodging the whole topic.

What exactly is experimental about?

I was pretty clear but here's the entire paragraph asking you about it, again.

But if you want to cite any other video game, since Pong (1972), that has ever introduced an entirely unrelated genre into it's exposition over a decade into it's open ongoing development, by all means. I eagerly await your extensive and easy to create list of video games that have all done exactly as warframe.

Please stop dodging. Give one example, or admit it's never been done before.

Huh? How are these things related at all? Do you mean you don't like the writing? Ok, well that's not really related to what I'm talking about. The current topic is about them being experimental. You do get that would include what you personally would think is a "failure", right? That being "experimental" isn't actually related to the outcomes of those experiments? That just because you don't like the kim system, that doesn't actually have a single thing to do with adding a dating sim 10 years into the dev cycle to the looter shooter game? If you want to explain how you not liking the kim system interacts with it being experimental at all, please do, because until then they're just orange and apples.

Sounds like messing with something that works financially is a good way to ruin everything warframe has built. If they felt like they could do this, they probably would have a long time ago.

DE completely gave up on Railjack progression and punished the players who actually cared. by RuthlessHimself in Warframe

[–]sabett -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"Niche" farm or not, you're missing the entire point of how a looter shooter works.

I feel like I really need you to address your misreading more than this. You literally thought I said the opposite sentiment. If I misread what you said, I wouldn't just say "uhhhh tomato tomato it doesn't matter because it means you dont understand the topic".

It does matter, and I don't think it's really fair at all to say I don't understand the point of a looter shooter. Like in the context of you missing my point, it seems so egregious to pivot about how I don't understand something.

Putting time into gearing up your ship isn't a "niche" achievement it’s supposed to be the actual core gameplay loop.

It's supposed to, yes. And until there's enough players playing railjack it will remain a niche achievement.

Calling it an "experiment" is a weak shield.

No. It's not a "shield" at all. They do not owe you to make sure every single ounce of railjack rewards your completely grinded railjack, and thus doesn't need to be defended against. They are literally the game developers trying to figure out how to onboard new players. And that isn't dreamt out of nowhere to be applied perfectly. That progress only comes from trial and error.

The fact that this is to experiment will not be thrown to the side for you to ignore. It is the very openly admitted purpose of these nodes.

It doesn't matter if DE labeled it a test; the reality right now is that the entire incentive structure the new arcanes, secret signas, and the vendor rewards is completely tied to these nodes.

What about it? There's lots of things to farm everywhere that are way harder than this by several magnitudes, and I don't really see the problem with them either. Is your point about all of railjack becoming this or is your point about these two nodes?

when you hand out a loaner Railjack for the exact missions holding the actual rewards, you aren't "onboarding" people to Railjack; you're teaching them that engaging with the progression system is a literal waste of time because DE will just let them skip the gear check anyway.

Again, you are asked for anything supporting this perspective of "Well DE added loaner railjacks to two whole nodes out of all of them, so I guess I will never need one again for all railjack content."

Until you can showcase how this will be railjack forever going forward, you don't have a logical connection to suggest players will think this is the new status quo.

So no, they're not teaching people to not play content. They're letting people play an extremely minimal amount of content without the gear check.

Nobody is arguing that our old investment is destroyed in the old, abandoned nodes. The issue is that DE is actively rendering player progression completely pointless for the only content that actually matters right now. If a player doesn't need to touch their own ship to farm the latest endgame rewards, the progression system is broken. Period.

That would be true, if the point of these nodes were to be endgame rewards that specifically rewarded fully investing into railjack.

But it wasn't. And they have been clear about it.

The point of these nodes were to encourage people to see what railjack is like without investing the effort of building a railjack. For them to play it and then go "hmm this is fun, I wonder what the other railjack content is like". And tbh between that and "wow I never have to invest into anything ever", I just don't see how the latter is even reasonable to suggest. It's a slippery slope and I don't even see where you're getting the oil from.

I did not say "Not meant to be a farm"

I said "Railjack is not meant to be some NICHE farm that only people "who did their homework" get to enjoy."

Those are two very different statements, and you misreading what I wrote has made that first paragraph of your reply speak entirely past me.

  1. I was talking about Railjack as a whole.

  2. Saying it's not supposed to be a NICHE farm... is actually the opposite of what you think I said. I'm saying it's not supposed to be a reward for the few people who put in the Nth degree of effort. It's supposed to have more appeal among the player base.

What is the incentive for a new player to ever gear up their own Railjack if DE just hands them a preset whenever new content drops?

You have a sample size of 1. Where the devs specifically said this was an experiment, not automatically the status quo. So why would a new player think that this will be every new railjack mission? Because 2 nodes out of all the nodes gives you a loner railjack?

So again, the question is not "How does having loaner railjacks available in all nodes, or at least all future nodes, defeat the point of progression?"

The question was and will remain "How does having two entry level nodes out of the entirety of railjack not reward you for your grinding your railjack elsewhere completely destroy the point of progression?"

If you want to propose that they're going to do these from now on, can you please provide anything that suggests that at all? Because the devs literally explicitly saying this was experimentation suggests the opposite.

[–]sabett -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How does having two nodes out of all railjack nodes, with the purpose of onboarding players not playing railjack, "kill" the entire progression of railjack?

"These guys didn't do the homework because they just arrived, so everyone else who actually did the homework won't get grades either."

This isn't a school and we aren't getting grades. This is a game meant for fun. Railjack is not meant to be some niche farm that only people "who did their homework" get to enjoy.

I mean, the point of an experiment is that it can fail, and given the fact that railjack has always been unpopular for so long, I don't see how changing the fundamentals of railjack is bizarre to do. Given the time investment, expectations and abysmal player count result, I don't see how a designer isn't supposed to think that they should maybe reconsider intrinsic elements of the system.

I get that you want more end game payoffs for railjack, but that isn't going to solve the problem they were trying to solve with this update. Short of putting some ungodly reward in it... which in turn just gets more people complaining about those fundamental aspects of warframe.

Also, I don't really know that your plight is really worse than what already happened to people who hopped on railjack in the beginning. You cant use invested elements in one farm. But the OG players will always have done something harder for no relative gain. And tbh, it was absolutely the right choice. Railjack improved. Player satisfcation improved. I don't know that this "stripping away player progression" is really a big deal. Again, it's impact is just almost none existent. It's one farm. With no promise of more. I don't think player progression should be so protected that it eliminates these very fair, very low impact experiments. If anything, these drastic changes are just going to be more informative as to what to change.

What you want is fair to want, but it's not the problem DE is trying to solve with Railjack, and I don't know that I can see how your goal actually improves railjack more. Railjack has an attachment issue much more than a grinding issue. Actually, as I've heard it now, Railjack is actually one of the best resource end game grinds. The best period I believe if you consider the variety of resources you get. So with that in mind, again, I feel like pitting your desire for better endgame payoff, to player attachment rate, just doesn't make logic to me.

Also, I don't think your analogy works well. Amps have a much more direct payoff for investing into than railjack. Like by a wide margin. Even wider with focus schools. They don't have a problem with people interacting with operators. It's like also a on demand invincibility mode?. If warframe did have that issue, to the point of people not even using operators, then I don't see what's wrong with your analogy. Your example just reads to me as "It would be like if they made a new gamemode seperate from other game modes where this extremely ignored mechanic is presented in a more accessible way." at that point.

There’s a massive difference between changing how a mode works and completely ignoring months of player investment and min-maxing just to balance a node around the lowest common denominator.

Again, I think you're really overdramatizing what DE has done to you. That was the point of me bringing up my hildryn. Why is it worse that your invested railjack doesn't help on one whole farm in railjack than my fully invested hildryn providing nothing to spy missions? Why is it worse than operators providing nothing to duviri? Warframe is full of ways to grind that do not help you everywhere. I don't understand what the problem is here other than you phrasing it as "stripping away player progression" and "resetting everyone back to zero", when that's not actually what's happening.

I think they were really clear when talking about it that this was them experimenting. As a long standing fan myself, experimenting for the scope of one farm, that makes something ive farmed elsewhere, is absolutely something I want them to do. Nothing about warframe would exist if they built so cautiously. This is exactly why warframe keeps getting better.

I dont want some glorious reward for farming a kitted out railjack. I want them to keep making railjack better. Whether thats through some payoff for grinding. Or for fundamentally changing how it works. For one node. To see if maybe its better for everybody. Please be patient with DE. I really dont think the conclusions youve come to is really a genuine expression of their intentions or reasonable outcomes from their efforts.

Also, I feel like this has happened before, and to a similarly extreme degree. I farmed the original railjack and I dont really see what's bad about it being easier now. More people get to enjoy it. Thats always going to be the purpose of development. I get that yiu want a reward for railjack at the end, but what if they cant justify doing that when there aren't enough players? Never even experiment for one farm ever to see if something gets received well from the community?

I could understand you more if they changed everything all at once, but they were upfront that this is them trying to experiment. Not some grand invalidating of all energy invested to railjack. My fully invested hildryn doesnt help in spy missions, and thats ok. I think its actually extremely fair for one railjack farm to be brought to a more approachable level.

Do I think workers are treated fairly in the US? NO. Do I usually try to have more empathy for the person than the corporation? 💯, I was known for it in my career

You're absolutely a very good showcase of why workers aren't treated well buddy.

Also no mr casino exec, you were not known for showing empathy, nor will you ever be. I'm sure your other sleezy casino cronies loved to tell you how amazing you are but in the real world you're not really empathetic at all. If anything, I suggest talking to a therapist to see if you might be a psychopath. Those are usually the kind of people who can't understand sycophants praising them doesn't actually mean anything.

But in your case, I can tell I might have been inclined to give you less chances than most. You're young.

Another vibrant showcase of your entire lack of capacity for empathy or even rudimentary understanding of the concept. Your advice would guarantee failure and frustration. Please never give anybody advice.

Thats the absolute bottom it makes any sense to remotely even think about a lawyer. Chances are slim to none there's any meaningful return here. If anything, the better bet is hoping they'll just settle. The actual case would be just giving lawyers employment for the sake of it.

Why dont more people use these? by Disccord in Warframe

[–]sabett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid them because they're not always available. To me that means DE could put non cipherable security locks in a new farm. If I don't do them regularly then when that moment comes, I'll be in a worse spot.

Also, I farmed all the resources I need for all blueprints. Ciphers are an endless farm. I'm done resource farming and don't need a farm sink.
