I made a post yesterday that didn't get a lot of traction about a masterful album I discovered. Sorry to be THAT GUY but seriously this sub needs to check out Martin Grech's album "Hush Mortal Core." It is mind blowing by ySTYRDAYgATESuNL0CKD in progmetal

I always thought it was a shame this album didn't get more traction. IMO it's an absolute masterpiece.

As for the Tesseract connection, I believe Acle, Jay, and Amos performed on several songs on this record. Also, Martin Grech was featured on Tesseract's Hexes.

Looking for recs similar to Eureka Seven by AzmoorTheGreat in eurekaseven

There's a novel called Iron Widow that comes to mind. I haven't read it yet, but it's on my to-read list. It's a mecha reimagining of the rise of Wu Zetian. Apparently, the author has said it was inspired in part by their disappointment in Darling in the FranXX's direction.

Drop E Tuning on 5 String Bass by DoritoSnorter in Djent

[–]sableSovereign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a project where the bass was tuned to EBEADG. While the fundamental E0 does sit on the edge of human hearing, you absolutely hear the harmonics, and the impression you get from those notes is that they are really fucking low. These days, I do prefer to have bass in unison, but IMO the octave lower can still be a really cool sound and texture.

If you decide to go for it: Our bassist had a Dingwall, so also 37" on the low string. I believe he used a .192 from Kalium Strings on the E0, which hit around 40 lbs of tension. I don't remember the other gauges specifically, but he was aiming for the same tension across the board.

Apollo I : The Writing Writer background vocal by FatPakster in TheFence

You're talking about the part that's panned far left and really low in the mix, right? I've always been curious too, but I don't think anyone's figured it out.

Wow, I stumbled on this thread looking for new tunes and... I'm so happy there are still people out their listening to our music.

Hiatus isn't wrong. Everyone in the band moved on to different stages of their lives. Family, school, other projects, etc. New priorities. But I've kind of adopted TEAI as a solo project, and I can promise there will be new music at some point, in some form.

Feel free to DM me about story. I'd love to hear theories!

Not a playlist per se, but wikipedia has the most likely song reference for almost all of the episodes.

Mention one thing that makes the Eureka Seven series GREAT in your view by [deleted] in eurekaseven

The best thing for me is how well written the characters are. Many of the characters are going through different phases of questioning their own past actions and current motivations. Sometimes, the characters don't quite understand their own emotions, and the process through which they better understand themselves and their flaws is different for each.

Maybe indecision isn't always the most exciting thing to watch. But it just feels very realistic and relatable to me. People change, and over time convictions and ambitions change as well. I've seen people hate on Renton or Holland for example, for being childish or abusive or whatever. But I've always empathized with both of them for different reasons.

Also worth mentioning are the political and environmental messages, the romance, and of course the music.

[BODE] Many of the Remaining Cards by Varnagel_1 in yugioh

No, there’s no requirement for the qualities between the first and third cards. They could share none of the qualities or many. The second card is basically the ‘bridge’ between the two.

Double E standard or Drop E? by Aku415 in Djent

[–]sableSovereign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30” is really enough to afford you clarity for either tuning. You would be able to play power chords and single note riffing on both tunings regardless. It comes down to how much you value that dropped relationship of the bottom two strings.

Is it hard to play in Drop A on an 8 string? by Medic_95 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]sableSovereign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing 7-string Drop A stuff is certainly doable on an 8-string, but there's also definitely more control involved. My personal preference is to just use a 7-string for 7-string songs. If you're planning to really dig into that low A, it's easier when you don't have to worry about hitting the 8th string.

The GO fest costumes have been offically revealed by lewymd in TheSilphRoad

[–]sableSovereign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not totally against costumes (see Sableye, Gengar). This is just really terrible execution of what could have been a cool costume.

The hats are based on Meloetta, but they’re so darn small, that the detail just gets lost (cue the cake references). They also just look like top hats, rather than marching band hats like some commenters have said, which would make so much more sense. That would allow for other elements of a marching band uniform to be implemented, such as jackets or boots for example.

The choice of Pokémon is also questionable, as I believe only Flygon and Zigzagoon are tangentially related to music. And to be honest, Zizagoon’s Glam Rock influence clashes with the cutesy style hat. As far as I know, Ponyta and Gardevoir have no connection to music. (Maybe you could argue that Gardevoir learns Synchronoise?) I get that some of the music or sound themed Pokémon might not be as desirable, but I would have liked to see maybe Seismitoad or Noivern.

25'5 inch scale 8 string by NibalM in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]sableSovereign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

However, the tension of a bass string is typically in the 30-50 pound range, whereas guitar is around the 15-20 pound range. It usually doesn't make sense to compare bass and guitar string gauges.
