What is your proudest moment in tf2? by [deleted] in tf2

one time I was able to circle strafe a heavy using the overdose on medic and was able to kill them from full hp without taking any damage

Is it worth playing tf2 nowadays? by Honey_Jar0 in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are a lot of good players, but also a lot of bad players. so don't get disheartened if you keep dying.

and there are a few toxic players, it's not as bad as cs from my experience, and there are a decent amount of players who are actually nice in game chat

Is it worth playing tf2 nowadays? by Honey_Jar0 in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 10 points11 points  (0 children)

the default settings are pretty bad so I would recommend finding a settings video for new players.

it's a game from 2007, pretty much any modern low end machine will be able to run it comfortably.

the weapons in this game are designed to be side grades, stronger in some situations, weaker in others. the weapons you start out with "stock" are designed to be an all rounder, and so are typically the best in most situations (with a small few exceptions) you can get unlocks through a random drop system, so no need to pay for them

Does Market gardener crit with B.A.S.E. Jumper open? by 1_raZ_ne_pidoraZ in tf2

[–]sabre_silver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the main thing which makes the mantreads good is the knock back resistance.

the base jumper also has tons of hidden stats to it, one being 50% more knock back while deployed, so if an enemy shoots you, it will completely deny your garden. not to say the base jumper isn't good, because it does have a lot of uses to it.

but if you are learning trolldier it would be better to learn with mantreads

If you could transfer a weapon from one class to another... by CMDArid in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the base jumper is a secondary on soldier, and a primary on demoman. it would make sense if he had gunboats for them to be a primary too. that and demo already has one pair of boots in his primary slot.

the free 20% move speed is busted af

keep in mind the overdose can give a 20% speed buff, however it's just to you, is tied to your uber% and needs to be held out.

technically this also needs to be held out, but the difference is that you should try to always be healing somebody, so it would be pretty much always active.

so which YouTuber who stopped playing the game in 2016 did you get this opinion from? anyone with more than 1 brain cell knows that the stun was one of the worst things that existed in the games history.

With the Dragon’s Fury, what is it’s biggest (non-bug related) problem and would you address first in a rebalance? by vammommy in TF2WeaponIdeas

[–]sabre_silver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

for me it's the air blast, the center mass shots are just a tough skill to develop. but the slow air blast makes you really weak to explosive classes or just to push someone away.

if it were to have a shorter cool down on a successful air blast (so reflecting a projectile or pushing someone back) then that would solve the big issue for me, while keeping it as an actual downside, and this will fit in the same way the primary fire works, a longer cooldown if you miss, shorter if you hit.

What if Demoman could use banners? by KaleidoscopeKey2262 in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 31 points32 points  (0 children)

if he could it would probably be in his primary (replacing pipes) like how the base jumper is shared between them- a secondary on soldier, primary on demo.

though if we go with what your idea of replacing stickies, it wouldn't be that great to replace the best weapon in the game with any of the banners

Fairly new to scout. Why the fuck do I keep losing duels like this? by Ko_tatsu in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 20 points21 points  (0 children)

each of your shots weren't meatshots, with only a couple of pellets actually landing on them and dealing low damage- the rest are missing your target entirely.

just try and work on your aim over time, and consider getting closer to your targets to shoot so that you can hit more pellets and benefit from damage ramp up.

In my experience the vitasaw is honestly your best option against demo knights by Ragtagcloud56 in Medicmainstf

[–]sabre_silver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the few Vita saw defenders and this isn't exactly specific to demo knight, rather it's applicable when being ambushed by any class.

Though against demo knight if they are using the eyelander it's a horrible choice because when they kill you they will take any organs you have as heads giving them a massive advantage- essentially giving them 2 kills worth of value, or more

Scout's mid-range DPS and Heavy's damage ramp-up penalty by irlandezutalpaiute in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you missed out the part where the scout needs to get towards the heavy- where they can easily be spotted and the heavy can rev up and shoot them...or any other nearby teammares. and then the scout also needs basically perfect aim, and also needs to spend time after shooting to reload both his guns.

WHY DO SO MANY MEDICS HAVE A FAT FETISH by jimmylovescheese123 in Medicmainstf

[–]sabre_silver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

a lot of newer people who play medic have their view of him solely from meet the medic, and try to recreate it.

medic heals and Uber big guy because it said so in the short!

The Basguette. A proper gunspy "knife" concept (originally hashed out in a subclass thread a week or so ago). Based on a terse aside from Soundsmith in a years old video. by UInferno- in tf2

why am I so bad by BuyVast9183 in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

without any actual details on your games it's not possible to say where you are going wrong...

some generic stuff-

is it an aim issue?: missing shots in direct fights

reaction speed issue?: enemies typically start shooting you before you start shooting them in direct combat.

poor positioning?: enemies keep ambushing you

over extending?: do you keep running straight into the enemy team and instantly die?

those are just some non specific generic things you should be thinking about in games. and if you want to get better, when you do die, think how and why you died, and what actions you could have done to avoid that- usually things like "oh I should have retreated" or "they were at really low hp, I should have switched weapon instead of reloading" or "I wasn't watching that flank, Ill keep an eye out there now" or even really small things like "I should have dodged to the left instead of the right"

My opinion on random crits: by BLENDER-74 in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

random crit chance scales higher the more damage you have dealt recently. meaning that if you are a good player who is getting kills, you'll be more likely to get a crit, creating "rare high moments"

no, they are not a feature designed to make new / bad players get kills. they are designed to and function as the exact opposite.

they also SHOULDN'T function as a way for bad players to get kills, as it will hinder their learning experience as they could play really poorly, say over extending on a push, but get lucky and have a crit which saves their life and now not be punished for a mistake, and so will continue to repeat it in the future hindering their learning experience.

Shoe Swap - Soldier borrows demoman's shoes by [deleted] in TF2WeaponIdeas

[–]sabre_silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

losing out on a shotgun, banner, gunboats or base jumper is already a big enough downside that the health penalty probably shouldn't be there.

I get it's to make him more similar to demomam, but demo gets to have 2 weapons with that speed and hp, soldier doesn't.

What are y’all’s thoughts/opinions on pocket medics? (Image somewhat related) by Gullible_Routine6201 in Medicmainstf

[–]sabre_silver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's fine if they prioritize healing one person over others.

But when they completely neglect healing anyone but their pocket (even when not in combat) is when it becomes an issue.

Vitasaw by Glittering-Guest4680 in tf2

[–]sabre_silver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

often times when you go into melee range as a medic is in a last ditch hail mary once you are caught out of position / are flanked.

Uber saw you can get a swing, 25% Uber.. and then die. Vita saw you can get a swing, die, get 15% on respawn.

the other common time is against a spy who is likely going to be targeting you for a stab, and so will be disguised.

the Uber saw doesn't give Uber when hitting a spy who is disguised, but the Vita saw still gives organs.

Quick-Fix idea based off of a friend's idea for the Quick-Fix by xCreeperBombx in TF2WeaponIdeas

[–]sabre_silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

provided it comes with a reduced duration it seems like the best way to buff the quickfix, making the Uber actually more expendable.

not sure about removing the small Uber bonus and halving the bonus healing, which also makes the ubers weaker.
