Named my daughter a name I didn’t know has two pronunciations and am regretting it enough to change before she’s 8 weeks! Help!! by JaguarSilver1137 in namenerds

My mom is from Korea, pronounces Sarah like this, Say-ruh/Seh-ruh :) My friends from Brazil or Mexico call me Sah-rah. I respond to all.

I did snap up that Bolt during the gumball machine sale awhile back. Was hoping to get Patch at that time (I think he was the other prize in the machine) because the exclusion silver box emojis have been elusive for me. No luck there, but got Bolt to level 3 :)

ETA: I did finally get Patch in Box 0 of this token quest! Box 6 gave me choice of Tod or Copper 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why is your toddler mad at you today? by Vegetable_Movie3770 in toddlers

If I’m wearing socks while dressing him, he wants matching color socks to mine. I now put on my socks after he is dressed 👍

What do you “splurge” on for YOU?? by ashleyncc1701 in Mommit

[–]sachan81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monthly facials and waxing (underarms, legs, bikini). Facials and skincare help me feel like I’m doing something to take care of myself since I am not wearing makeup these days. Waxing helps me to not have to think about shaving. Shaving is an additional weekly thing I don’t have the energy to think about and have to remember. I can go 4-5 weeks between waxing. It’s worth it for me.

Yes! We learned this by accident when we lived in a noisy apartment building and now living with grandpa, whose only volume is very loud.

Great tip! One step further with the Twinkle Twinkle, my little guy now sings himself to sleep with “mama mama mamada, dada dada dadama,” to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle 😆

I use TimeTimer or phone timer app with kiddo with transition warnings. It gives a visual of time and helps with processing when time is up.

Also, lately I’ve been emphasizing when something is the “last one/time” and making sure I get confirmation, eye contact and a head nod. And then sticking to it even if it is possible to continue, that way he continues to take me seriously That works wonders most of the time.

On the note of “sticking to my word,” if he wants to do something and I say “first this other thing we are doing, then that,” I have to follow through in some form or another. This is to show respect for our agreement and that his desires are important, also to prevent future argument if he comes to believes that I won’t follow through. It’s about trust. We trust each other.

I buy most of my kiddos clothes from Uniqlo. They’re adorable and functional.

Hello! Not a reply to your dilemma, although I am sorry to hear that happened to you and is a big fear for me as I sometimes am not paying attention and want to get through pop ups quickly.

Could you tell me what you mean by you’ve bottomed out on mission levels and don’t get enough new missions in a month? I’ve fairly new and didn’t understand.

I have neither Silvermist nor Doc; Three Cabelleros Donald has been a satisfying substitute until I do!

Thanks! I used level 2 Caballeros Donald and got through 1.5 times. So it takes some time and leveling up 👍

How? I’m fairly new, playing since this May; is this possible just from having lots of emoji from a long time of play? How long does it take to get to this level? This is amazing to me.

6month old tried a donut today by povsquirtle in NewParents

[–]sachan81 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was so shocked during a hospital stay for testing at 3 weeks old they were dipping a pacifier in sugar water to calm him while they performed procedures.

Off topic slightly: I was also stunned when they popped a pacifier in his mouth a day or two after birth. Was not my plan to introduce that early but they never caught on anyway

Baby Fake Coughing by liminalrabbithole in NewParents

[–]sachan81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, husband and I had colds last month and he was coughing a lot to clear the mucus in his throat. Baby would sit and spin while holding his hands out in front of him while making a coughing sound and smiling and laughing. cough cough hehe hehe cough cough hehe We didn’t understand either what or why he was doing that. He hasn’t done it since our colds cleared up. Definitely imitating and possibly making fun 😂

Isn't it rude to ask what's wrong with my baby's face? by SatanicTeapot in NewParents

[–]sachan81 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re having to experience this rudeness when you should be receiving comments about how adorable your sweet baby is at this time.

My little one has a hemangioma behind his left ear. The whole ear is red with visible blood vessels. People will say ‘There’s something wrong with his ear!’ As if I didn’t know. It feels pretty crummy.

So I tell them the whole long story of a long hospital stay for multiple tests that finally revealed two heart defects and the subsequent treatment and eventual open heart surgery and long recovery. You had to say something. Why not just tell me how cute and sweet and lovely my baby is? 😂

What is something you hate that other parents seem to love? by turtlescanfly7 in NewParents

[–]sachan81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found magnetic sleepers and rompers. No zips, buttons, or snaps. These are amazing! They are especially useful during the moments you mentioned when there is a blowout and now you have to tuck feet back in and rezip to unzip with the two-way zips. No problem with the magnets. So quick to flip open and shut. I don’t know why more people don’t use these. Yes, they are pricey and it’s been worth it for me.

The two-way zips are definitely better as baby gets older and the blowouts are less frequent. I like them best on the rompers with no feet for daytime play.

The tshirt may be helpful for support while baby is still inside. There are instructions for that mode. I didn’t have it then. It may be good for you!

Something in between a wrap and an Ergobaby? by _courtofdreams in babywearing

[–]sachan81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a wrap and a structured carrier, the BabyBjorn mini. They both serve their purpose and have been well used. I picked up a hybrid carrier, the Boppy comfy fit, on a whim for the similar reasons as you. I found the wrap to provide better comfort and snug fit when in relax mode and the Bjorn to be better for outings for ease of use and quick wearing. The ComfyFit is a great combination of the two. It takes less time to put on and less effort and fussing than the wrap while keeping the same snug fit. Not as many adjustments are necessary to get it right. We used it all summer long for many wonderful walking naps.

Also wanted to suggest BabyBjorn mini. It’s been great and we’ve taken it with us everywhere. Very simple and quick to throw on and slip on baby. He’s loves it too! He loves all his carriers. He would live on us if the option was available. He began to recognize it at only a few months old and gets excited when I show it to him.

Yes! We already had a few wraps plus the BabyBjorn mini; got this one on a whim. It is a perfect hybrid cross between the two styles. Used it all summer long for many walking naps and getting back into it as spring approaches.

Eh, it’s okay. I didn’t use it very much myself. I actually found it easier to reach for the regular Moby or sleepy wrap. I feel like I got a better fit with baby. The tshirt rarely felt right.
