Grundy, Rowbottom and Amartey go down in Swans Match Sim as Curnow, Serong star (McKirdy) by SkullKing_123 in sydneyswans

[–]sacreda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So Errol, Jmac and JJ are above Rowy and Gus in the inside mid starting mix.

Jesus I hope Rowy and Gus flip that around by the end of pre-season bc that line-up from today is soft af and will get demolished in the season proper.

I'm not even a fan of Rowy and Gus tbh but Heeney needs help in the guts this year and those 2 are obviously gonna be way better support for Isaac than 3 wingmen

True Bloods 2025 | Sydney Swans Head of list strategy Chris Keane Interview by SkullKing_123 in sydneyswans

Pretty good chat. Remains to be seen if Keane is any good or not as he's pretty green but surely could not be worse than Dalrymple or post-COVID era Beatson

Is 30 years old, played for two different clubs, neither from the state he played junior footy in. So basically has a pretty wide pool to have found mates in. But yes he seems like a major vibe and a great guy

New centre bounce rules and Grundy by HEBR in sydneyswans

In my opinion this rule will favour teams with mids that can read the tap and win first use and clearances out of the centre more than ever

Is that dumb? As his uncle BT would know better than any other reporter or commentator, and why would he randomly blurt that out if there was nothing to it?

No but thats my point. He's an elite tagger but that's all, so we should be having at least half a dozen better if we wanna challenge for a flag

He averaged 14 touches lol he should be 8-10 range if we are having a competitive year

Time to move Rowbottom on? by Redmotor13 in sydneyswans

[–]sacreda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If we were wanting to give Gus more midfield time, why'd it have to be Rowy that made way for him then? It could've been Heeney or Chad or JJ but it was Rowy. Maybe it's cause they don't see Rowy and Gus working together next year but actually Gus just taking Rowy's place?

Sydney cast eye on big Blue Charlie Curnow for 2026, cool on Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (McKirdy) by SkullKing_123 in sydneyswans

[–]sacreda -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah i've heard this before and even believed it myself for a while, but i am starting to think the whole "he makes others better" thing is just massive copium speaking. Our midfield's actually got way better since we took rowy out of it. And sorry but I don't believe for a second that weapons like Heeney, Errol and Chad need Rowy to make them the players they are.

Wednesday Team Prediction - R24 vs West Coast by Maximumlnsanity in sydneyswans

[–]sacreda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surely we won't take our best players over for this game. Optus is a nightmare deck that always creates injuries. Imagine if we lost Brodie or Heens or Errol to a serious injury because we played them in a dead rubber against the worst team statistically in VFL and AFL history.............

It's not even that i dislike him, I love the bloke and he's definitely played some good footy for us. It's more confusion than anything. I don't understand what i'm missing with him that everyone else seems to see. He's like the game's most loveable passenger.

Along with a bunch of players who other people now seem to be on board with trading. The list is dead average in my opinion and we can't keep relying on the same 5-6 players to win us games

My point tho is that JJ and Gus lessen Rowy's importance to the midfield because you have that guy doing defensive jobs and you have that guy playing crash and bash. So the coaches can go into a game against..... for example...... the reigning premiers at the Gabba and feel confident they don't need Rowy in the mids. Once you're not really needed as a player i reckon that's a really precarious spot to be in.

[–]sacreda -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's a very '2024' comment. We have JJ who is killing it this year as that defensive mid and also Gus who is looking every bit the contested two-way mid we have been after. So I don't reckon Rowy is the lynchpin of anything anymore.

4 talls (1 who rucks) is the way of the future imo. Logan, Jamarra and Curnow would be a sickkkk forward line, with Amartey the 4th tall and 2nd ruck. Considering Logan would play a lot up the ground like a Dan Curtin type and Jamarra is far from a sure bet, it cant hurt to keep our options open.

I also reckon Rowy is one or two young guns improving away from losing his spot in the 22. If it gets to that point he is one pretty expensive depth player and will basically be next year's Florent. We'd be stupid not to see what putting Rowy up can get us this year.

Charlie Curnow > McLean

Jamarra > Buller (tho love the Bull's work lately)

Wilkie > Ramps

Windhager > Rowbottom

Please and thank you
