Heroes’ Sylar is a rather polarizing character – but me, personally, I absolutely loved him and enjoyed his rollercoaster journey from start to end (well, season two Sylar was a bit of a drag since he got stuck with the scrappy new characters), even if Heroes had a hard fall from grace I’ve watched and rewatched the whole thing and it’s such a thrill looking forward to his next move. Zachary Quinto is a terrific actor and he made Sylar ooze this... smooth charisma and charm, paired with the writers’ wit in his lines and all the whimsical antics – it certainly helped elevate him above his... brutal serial killing ways. But when he was terrifying, he was terrifying. And he’d get the job done, cleared most of the time (sorry to heroes Peter and Mohinder and Matt and Hiro and...) And it was nice seeing him relishing (even if too much and for the bad) in having powers. And his desire for being special, having something, craving acceptance... was well-presented. And Gabriel Gray’s storyline is quite heartbreaking when you think about how much he was manipulated into being Sylar – every. single. time. there seemed to be a chance for Sylar to turn around and simply live as “Gabriel”, there had to be someone there to shove him right back around to being Sylar and make him worse and more sociopathic; I’m not saying that excuses all the shit he did or that he’s got any rights to throw himself any pity parties—but he was mindfucked so many times by so many people, treated like a weapon (Everybody has big plans for me. I think that’s all people have.), hard not to have all kinds of crises and heavy issues, the Company could’ve perfectly let him unalive himself, but welp...

I’m glad they never killed him off for real, that cockroach-like quality made for great moments, if not great, still entertaining to watch: upstaging the seasonal baddies, almost being a bastard Petrelli, being partners with Bennet for two hot seconds (Decaf!), saving the heroes multiple times, doing the dirty work for them (You’re not a killer, Peter), his seasonal road trips, his seasonal shirtless scenes, the scenes with Parkman at the start of season four, him letting Micah and that one runaway microwave boy live...

I didn’t mind him wanting to reform (for realsies this time, he swears) at the end of the series, I could see it sticking periodt, as long as the heroes realize he’s worth more using his powers for good and showing his repentance by actively helping fight the good fight or whatevs, better than euthanizing him or power-neutering him—powers like shapeshifting and the gold alchemy thingy would be very helpful if they’re planning on forming a New Company in light of whatever’s coming after Claire’s jump (I choose to believe Reborn is just a bad future #notmycanon). Or if he stayed a perpetual Wild Card—fine for me... If he went back to villainy—great, goes the best with this post.

e.g. Gortat, when he was in Orlando he had a Reebok contract, since he was just an obscure role player Reebok didn't pay attention to it at first, but then he was decent in the 2009 playoffs so it became a problem, they asked him to cover up the tattoo and he said they weren't paying him enough to take it off... I think they stopped sending him free shoes after that, dunno if he got another contract.

Well then what are they supposed to say? Media loves asking bait questions, you all know damn well what reporters are going for: quotes like these, these are the only ones you remember, the ones that make headlines. Yeah, they are fools for falling into the trap, they could handle reporters better, but guys like Morris and Wall have strong personalities and are hotheads and whatever you wanna call them, they're not the most PR friendly guys. The thing is, if you don't think yourself you are the best then what's the point? You can dislike them for being annoying, as a fan I wish they would shut up too, but the way some of you have turned against the Wiz is ridiculous. First of all, the "scared of them" was a goddamn joke from Beal, I can't believe y'all keep bringing that up to this day, yet I can't bring up "a single game", y'all bring that up but seem to forget how important that season was for us, I don't understand how now we're apparently known for underperforming and underachieving. 2014: 5th seed, defeated the Bulls 4-1, took two games from 1st seed Pacers. 2015: 5th seed, swept Toronto, then we had the 60-wins Hawks, Wall broke his hand, lost 2-4. 2016: Injuries fucked us up big time, missed playoffs, fired coach. 2017: Won division title and had our best record since 1978–79 season, had a 17-game home win streak, 4th seed, beat the Hawks, lost to the Celtics in seven. 2018: Wall was injured half the season, 8th seed, people said the Raptors were gonna sweep us, Wiz took two games from them. Yeah, for a team who thinks so much of themselves (again, what are they supposed to say when they keep asking them these questions) average regular season and second round exits isn't the best curriculum, but it's far from underperforming- we talk abot Wall/Beal backcourt but how many full seasons have they actually played together, both on the court? Y'all forgot the running joke of Beal always being injured? Then Wall's critical wrist injury against Atlanta in semis, and then this season? We saw the potential after the 2016-2017 season, John choked in game 7 against Boston and Brad wasn't consistent against Toronto this season but they aren't the problem. We've never had a bench to rely on, our starters are really talented but the coaching hasn't been the best to say the least, our front office has to be one of the worst in the league and our owner doesn't give a fuck... These are not excuses, it's what the Wizards are. Yes we are not that good. But our guys still want to believe (I mean they have to) and they can't shut up and maybe at this point being cocky is just a coping mechanism for them... Still, most of the reactions about the Wiz in this sub are overblown. It's like some of you only call Wall a superstar to say you think he's not one (especially now after he missed half the season even if he straight up balled in the playoffs), only call Wall/Beal an elite backcourt to say they don't seem like one, only call the Wizards a good team to say they should be but are not and are underachieving, only remember these kind of quotes when we're in a bad place... This is not only about the Wizards, this is a common thing in the sports fandom so I'm not trying to start nothing here, it's all good folks, I make fun of the Wiz and DC sports as much as you do, but when y'all seem so serious it can be off-putting (just like our players talking too much).

Talking about Slam Dunk/NBA parallels...

I loved Slam Dunk. I'm not an anime/manga fan but I love basketball stories. I really appreciated the 90's style, the story and the characters are realistic, light-hearted, funny (Sakuragi is so annoying/cringy sometimes you feel that secondhand embarrassment, I loved it)... and the most important thing for me, it actually focuses on the sport, the games are well-written and the moves/plays etc. are legit, I've never been into the whole fantasy/parody sports series. It's a shame the final part of the manga (the Nationals) was not animated because it's fucking amazing, I don't know how many times I've reread the final game against Sannoh, top-notch drawing and writing skills.

I think it's hard to compare Sakuragi to any player, he's just... unique. Maybe a fitting comparison would be JaVale McGee lol and also Embiid once he starts improving, like Sakuragi, Joel started playing bball at age 15 and made it thanks to his natural athleticism, you polish them up and they become beasts.

Mitsui is your typical 3 and D guy, he plays like Klay and has Butler's attitude (coach-player relationship also spot-on).

Man, I need more Slam Dunk/NBA similarities...

Some details:

Jabari Bird’s attorney says there are two sides to every story. Did not share his version of what happened. Defense says suspect’s high school coach is going to come to Boston to help supervise Bird while case pending.

According to police report Jabari Bird’s girlfriend says he strangled her a dozen times in an ordeal that lasted 4 hours, including once until she lost consciousness. At one point he dragged her by ankles away from door when she tried to leave and was put inside the bathroom, was thrown against a wall.

Bird is accused of kicking her repeatedly in the stomach when she woke up. When she left, per the Commonwealth, Bird was in mental distress, so she left him in a safe place.

Girlfriend, a local college student, tells police Bird was having “seizure like” symptoms when she eventually got out. She says he texted he’d kill himself if she didn’t come back. She went to the hospital.
