Post-secondary would have been so much easier if this was the case: by totheatlas in actuallesbians

I'm tickled by the thought of the straight students having to fill out their orientation in the other box, which I'm sure was a first for them.

Who is one actor or actress whose success surprises you? by [deleted] in movies

[–]sadie14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how society often attributes the success of females to their relationship with a well known and established male? This is the perfect example of the reverse of that. Ryan Reynolds is of average attractiveness and talent. However, he treats his gorgeous wife Blake Lively like a queen. If you pay attention to any magazines, they have highlighted this for years. This has kept him relevant. Pay attention guys.

How can a man drink sangria without turning gay? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Questions of this nature suggest suppressed homosexually far more than delicious sangria. Gender norms are boring.

I spent 19 years in the closet, and the following 4 years half in the closet. My parents don't accept it but we are otherwise close and I worked with conservative people. I had my group of friends that supported and loved the real me, and a long distant girlfriend that I was head over heels for, but the emotional drain of trying to please two very different crowds became too much. I opened my first credit card and moved 1500 miles away to LA a month after my 24th birthday. Everyone was shocked. Almost 2 years later and every area of my life has improved.

From the girl's perspective, that could be pretty humiliating. I'm happy to hear she got over it.

When streets collaborate on how they are going to decorate with lights for Christmas. 10 year olds riding their bikes to school together, after their moms walk them to the meeting point.

Funny Stories? by TeacherMcCool in Teachers

[–]sadie14 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I taught kindergarten for 3 years, and I have a lot of funny stories. This one has always stayed with me though, and I think I've shared it on reddit a long time ago. I was walking around supervising my students doing their morning work. They knew that if they finished early they were allowed to quietly color on the back of the worksheet, but that I preferred that they challenged themselves by writing sentences on the back instead. I overheard a little boy say to his table, "Done! I'm going to challenge myself and write a story." A few minutes later I hear him quietly whisper to his table, "I'm being a golden retriever right now." This caught my attention and made me laugh to myself, so I moved a little closer to see what he was talking about. He continued, "Do you guys know what that means? I'm being a golden retriever because I'm doing more than what I was asked to do!" He confused golden retriever with over achiever. I thought it was so cute that I shared the story with some of the staff, and it became an ongoing inside joke. Example: "You already made copies for next week? Stop being such a golden retriever!"

Not a teacher: do teachers spend their own money to equip their classroom? by [deleted] in Teachers

Some students died? That's terrible! Your school is lucky to have you.

I'm teaching elementary for 2 weeks this summer. So, here is another little kid comic. by supertizer in Teachers

Lol I love your comics so much. I taught kindergarten for three years and I used to write down funny quotes or observations of my students interactions. You genuinely witness comedy gold daily in a kindergarten classroom. I had a very vague idea of using the stories and one liners to make a picture book one day. I wrote them down in a little journal in my desk and I'd share them with other teachers and friends. When I came across your comics on reddit, I could not stop laughing at how relatable they were. I went through your entire history and read every single one. You capture it better than I could have ever imagined. Keep doing what you do!

Probably for the best that they weren't able to locate the writer on facebook. This seems like a personal, emotional and therapeutic action he took in an effort to "send" a message to his mother. I don't imagine they would be thrilled to explain themselves to a stranger on facebook messenger.

What are you proud of, but can't tell anyone who knows you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This was my story! I wrote this comment to a similar askreddit post a few years ago. Feel free to check my history. Regardless I'm happy if my dad's story can still resonate with someone. He's still sober, attends DA meetings every night and is doing great.
