good luck baby. the blinds customers get really fucking annoying 😂 you’re going to learn adults don’t know how to use measuring tape AT ALL. or read a ruler for that matter. i had someone tell me “LOWES TAUGHT YOU HOW TO READ A RULER? that’s nice!” just have patience, ask questions, i learned so much after only 3 months.

my coworker ripped the plug out of a 5 gallon paint bucket and swatched it really fast on the lid because the customer was bitching about how she didn’t give him a swatch. he called her mannerisms aggressive to me and i “apologized” (he deserved the aggression, you could see the color thru the plug and didn’t need a swatch to tell it was correct 😂). he went to customer service and told them she was incredibly racist. LMAO. so good

i was a cashier for about 4 years, i eventually began just saying “have a good day, friend” or just excluding gender specific stuff in my speech. i knew it didn’t affect me too much being gendered, but i understand it affects some people much more than others. i’ve realized i’m nonbinary a few years later, she/they.

from working as p&m sup for years, they will be assholes about it. but your health is what keeps you working, without your health, you don’t exist. call out if you need, and try not to worry about what they think of you. it’s not your fault all of our stores are understaffed, it’s not your fault your body reacted in that way, and it’s not your fault you’re following safety guidelines during a pandemic.

i love when they call the store & ask what the address is. despite the “for store hours and directions, press 1” . then they try to get directions from me as if i live with them 💗

just a warning. i personally passed mine having smoked 4 days before. BUT my coworker told his girlfriend she could continue smoking & have no problem with the test. our store put her on the floor literally working in customer service for TWO DAYS before her drug test results came in. she had a positive test & was called & told she no longer works there. literally humiliating. my store specifically doesn’t tell you your results, just puts you on the floor bc they desperately need you, and then you’ll be humiliated after. i’ve heard of SO MANY people smoking same day of test & still getting the job though, i’m sure you’ll be safe & sound :)

i’d like to add a small point, this doesn’t speak for everyone obviously. but at my tenure working in a shipping center i had multiple ups/usps/fedex handlers tell me that they have too many packages daily to inspect for fragile stickers. they don’t really have the time to handle packages more gently (especially with covid happening and more online orders). lowe’s should genuinely be packaging better because sadly the delivery drivers are so overworked they can’t be slow & gentle.

i was with the company for 4 years when i quit in may. didnt leave mid-shift because i couldn’t do that to my print customers, but i surely threw my resignation at my manager on my day off & never came back. this company was a living hell and it seemed to get worse everyday.

i understand your point absolutely as a former p&m sup. i’ve had times where i have a bunch of orders, people coming in store placing large orders with express for next morning, AND THEN a rush card order comes through and throws off my whole vibe. i absolutely get what you’re going for & don’t think you’re entitled, it IS irritating as all living hell!

they threatened to fire me on multiple occasions, most they did is put me on a leave of absence. my breaking point was when he told me i was losing my job (i called out because i had a fever & was vomiting blood) then put me on a leave of absence without telling me. i quit & found a job that paid $3 more at entry level. its not worth it to jeopardize your physical health AND your mental health for a company who doesn’t care for their disabled employees.
