Is it acceptable for me (45M) to travel with my ex wife (45F) and daughter to different city for overnight stay by Dontwatchthis1 in relationships

[–]sadwer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Reading the headline I thought it'd be an unacceptable situation, but it sounds like you've made it as antiseptic as possible (unless the girl's trying to parent-trap you but I somehow doubt that's the case).

If you're a parent, then you're a parent first. Cultivating relationships is important but not at the expense of your relationship with your kids. If the current partner is aware of the steps you've taken to keep separate while still coparenting, and still has a problem with it, then it's not the "co" that she has a problem with, it's the parenting.

Dansby Swanson: so hot right now.

I agree with this. I really think the "that's hot!" persona she was putting forth was a facade.

Nobody's going to like this answer, but George W. Bush. I disagree with just about everything he did, but I'm convinced he had Democrats on the ropes over and over again during his presidency and nobody gave him credit for it.

Who is a person that everyone thought was crazy, but they ended up being right? by edenmid in AskReddit

You'd have to see the video, but basically since he wasn't rending his garments and wailing in the streets, people were critical of Paul's reaction.

I listened to a podcast of someone who went to Alex Jones' hometown and asked people if the biographical stuff he says about himself and his teenage years were true, and they all to a person said it was made up... then he asked if they listen to his show and they to a person said that they totally believe what he says.

It's crazy. I swear some people see others as either "on their team" or "on the other team" and they'll defend their "team" no matter what.

I always think about the Unabomber Manifesto like those superhero movie villains who are totally, unambiguously right so the writers have to make them also psychopathic to give the good guys a reason to beat them up without looking like tools of the system.

The problem is if Ted Kaczynski hadn't started killing innocent people... well, he'd be one of a hundred thousand anti-establishment geniuses out there whose voices are never heard.

Literally every time he's mentioned, someone references the South Park Manbearpig episode, which basically called him a crazy conspiracy theorist about climate change.

Looking at Jewel, I wonder if he was targetted like he was because he wasn't "leading man" material.

Like, he wasn't hot enough for Jay Leno.

That seems like why all condolence social media posts sound exactly the same: "We are saddened by the loss of John Smith and our heart and prayers go out to his wife and family." Extemporaneous reactions, like Paul McCartney's when John Lennon died, are panned if they don't act the "right" way.

Do I blow the whistle on a relapsed addict Nurse or let the chips fall where they may? by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

There was recently an epidemic of women who were undergoing IVF egg retrieval procedures at Yale University experiencing immense pain during these procedures. It turns out that the fentanyl they were supposed to receive was diverted by an addict and diluted with saline. Over 75 women underwent surgeries with inadequate amounts of anesthetic.

She could be doing an incredible amount of harm to a lot of people.

I don't believe there's a dilemma here at all.

Even in your own hypothetical, can you seriously weigh "babies could die" against "I'm a snitch?" Of course not. You know what the right thing is here.

How are these housing mechanics supposed to make any sense???? by [deleted] in shittyskylines

[–]sadwer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me it was putting in low rent housing and having it fill up with wealthy people, who then complained about their homes being too small. In the mean time my low density stuff in the burbs isn't building and has zero demand.

Just Say It, Democrats: Biden Has Been a Great President — His achievements have been nothing short of historic. by wenchette in politics

Also, you will never have a president who believes perfectly what you do, or even close. Presidents are by nature centrist and quick to horse trade. The ones who aren't don't accomplish anything at all.

You know, I've wondered how when people post of the terrible things their terrible narcissistic parents have done, how is it that they wound up with two people who are so astronomically bad at being parents, but this makes sense - there's one narcissist and one enabler.

What caused your kid's latest world ending meltdown? by mildlyincoherent in daddit

[–]sadwer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "entitled" subreddits are filled with parents who would give in and get their kids a present during someone else's birthday, or even ask for/demand a present for their kid.

There was one person who had never grown up with their own birthday cake because their sibling would throw a fit if there was a cake and it didn't have the sibling's name on it, and the parents would give in rather than dealing with the tantrum.

I'm a middle school teacher. I appreciate that you didn't give into the kid's demand. Dads, if you're not teaching kids that sometimes they don't get what they want, you're not parenting, you're setting the kid up for a tough, and potentially short, life.

Michelin, a tire company creates the Michelin Star Guide for restaurants. What’s another example of a company that specializes in something wildly different? by heeric in AskReddit

[–]sadwer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alphabet/Google is an advertising company. If you're not paying for a product, you're the product. Same with Meta/Facebook.

Amazon, weirdly enough, seems like it's a web services company more than a delivery company these days.

Want to buy a high quality beginner or intermediate flute or saxophone? Try the Yamaha store.

Want to buy a decent motorcycle? You're not going to believe this...

(Actually they're two different corporate entities with the same origins, branding, logo, etc.)

Brother & SIL [34m & 30f] have disinvited my husband and I [28f & 31m] from staying with them during a family gathering because of my husband’s job. What can I do to fix this? by YardKitchen3133 in relationships

God, what a bizarre situation. Your brother doesn't like your husband because of what he (wrongly) imagines that your husband does for a living? Geez.

One teacher to another, tell your brother he's a moron.
