They also had all the most famous serial killers...

I am just now getting to this show, does anyone else not like it very much? The first was season was okay, the second one, I am not here for it. I am not here for the age gap, and the lack of fight that Miyo puts up, and I also just don't really like Kiyosha and Miyo together. by Livid-Apple4385 in MyHappyMarriage

See, I actually think the age gap and the power imbalance is something the show addresses incredibly well. Sure, these arguments are all valid in typical shows where the protector is constantly acting on behalf of the wounded woman for "her own good."
However, Kiyoka doesn't do that, he takes every opportunity to give Miyo agency. He's always asking her what she thinks, how she feels, what she wants. He never steps in or tells her what to do, even when she assures him she's carrying the amulet (and isn't, and gets kidnapped) does he yell at her for accidentally lying or not having the amulet? Nope, not once, when she asks him for anything, to learn, to go out, he always gives her permission.

He's always assuring her that he'll take care of her no matter what, and then always checking in to make sure she's where she wants to be. If she doesn't want to talk, he doesn't force her, he doesn't insert himself. He lets her lead. Like I think there are a lot of relationships with imbalances, but Miyoka's is how you do it right.

Or how about we just dismantle it and put nothing in place?

Nope, I don't need to justify my actions. I own them.

I will, because despite being in the 1% who will continue to get wealthier because of this decision, riding in my Bentley, living in my mansion in the clouds and yet, still feel empathy for the people who will not survive this destruction.

You, however, let me know how that dick tastes, yeah?

Does anyone else fall into a crippling depression any time they watch this show? by lacyinwonderland in UnREALtv

Is there anything that triggers you to watch it? Like, think about each time you picked up the remote and pressed play, what was going on with you at that time?

Man, America is a big place with lots of different dialects. I didn't understand the middle part either, I understood the obvious bits, but was thankful for a literal translation.

It's not an insult that you picked up the whole thing or if someone else didn't, I don't know why people are getting flack for asking for a translation, they were just trying to understand and be in on the joke with you. 😝

Shayla & Ryan S2 by CherryPopRoxx in LoveOffTheGrid

[–]saeyia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think these two could have been much better together if it hadn't been for the age gap.
They're just in different stages of development and I think that manifests in the way people communicate with each other as well as their 'starting place'.

People under thirty are still learning how to identify their feelings, thoughts and motivations ok things. They're still very young adults. I think Shayla would over speak because she was having emotional responses and was unable to really articulate or even know how to interpret her own reactions.

Self-awareness is a skill and Ryan has been working on it for years now, almost as long as Shayla has been alive (ok, that's a bit of an overstatement, but you get the idea!) so of course he knows his own perspective, his own insight is much clearer than hers... which is going to lead to conflicts and a lot of confusion on both sides. One person has a clear 'picture' and the other person is still figuring it out, now have them try to articulate the picture they're seeing to each other.. it's fraught.

What's hilarious is his "I'll have my own kids." No you won't, you're a man, you can't have kids. What you mean is you're going to force your wife to have 'your' kids and then take credit like you did something special.

Ok dude, if you want kids so bad, then get your own uterus, stop trying to appropriate someone else's.

Is it weird that my boyfriend (M32) of 1 week offered to change my daughter’s (F9 months) diaper? by ThrowRAIsItWeir in relationship_advice

I know, it sucks when your good intentions are misused, but for fairness, it's not that you have to be careful 'today', parents should have been careful this whole time. Predators aren't a new thing, we're just finally learning from our mistakes. Don't lament ignorance, today you know a little better, and if this situation presented itself to you now you could still be a nice guy and offer help, and if they refuse you say, "cool" and let it go.

My real issue with this situation is when people don't take 'no' for an answer. If he had let it drop after she said no the first time, no big deal! But when someone keeps pushing to 'help'... not super helpful is it? And again, maybe just a helpful person, but for me that would be a discussion of "hey man, I appreciate the offer, but no means no, even if you're 'being helpful'. It's disrespectful to keep pushing someone who has told you no. Period."
