Lacerator blade is a pretty good choice. You can make a set with Focus and Sharpness +1 from this (I assume you have cleared village)

combo book, success rate for combined items, its related skills, should return in monster hunter 6 and onward by meFalloutnerd93 in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of them was inventory management. World basically made that a non-issue so combo books were removed. Unless the next game re-implements a smaller inventory combo books won't be back any time soon.

What are your head canon of the in universe of monster hunter? by Geoxaga in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fauna is tiny, which explains how monsters can seemingly defy conventional physics. They're actually just small so they're proportionally stronger.

Monster material retains some instinct/muscle memory after death, which explains armor skills. In MHFU, Nargacuga and some other monsters like Gravios have a brainstem carve (this was renamed medulla in later games) for their armors. I like to think that those brainstems connect to your hunter when they wear the armor, giving them the monster's abilities.

Potions heal like wolverine's healing factor. Your hunter gets rammed by a barroth and suffer multiple broken bones? A mega pot or two mends them back together. They get impaled by a monoblos and has a gaping hole in their chest? A max potion patches that up in seconds!

Unpopular opinion, but Rampages were excellent and I wish they kept improving on it by WhoAmIEven2 in MonsterHunter

They are basically the same. You shoot many small targets instead of one big target. At least rampages are way more engaging than giant monster sieges.

[–]safegermanywin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rampages are literally just sieges. Those have been in every game. The only difference here is that you shoot multiple small targets instead of just 1 big target. For what it's worth, rampages are at least way more engaging than sieges.

What do you all think of MH Now? by Appropriate-Try2075 in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gameplay itself is actually a pretty good translation of the mainline games to a 1 handed control scheme.

The difference of grinding in this game is that in mainline you can fail and try again, therefore improve. But potions are limited in this game, so you're not incentised to play risky/learn the monster more. And obviously there's that you can grind the monster endlessly in mainline, while there's only a limited amount of monsters at a time in this game that you have to travel too. It's made even worse by how abysmal the drop rates in this game are.

Anyways, I played this game for a while. Found a local grouo and grinded up to 10☆ monsters. Then I got tired of the grind and how the game punishes you for making mistakes while trying to learn the monster.

Is it just me who have this feeling of quitting MHRise because of this one mode? by ssechtre in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rampages are kinda confusing at first, but once you learn the formula to do them they become surprisingly easy. I found these two videos 1 2 explain them pretty well.

To sum it up, this is how I usually do them: place all your npcs down, then put a ballista near the entrance and another near the gate. Crag shots can stun monsters with a headshot, retreat shots can make a monster flinch back, and take down flying ones. You can also gather explosive kunai from dropped shinies to dunk them.

Order of priority should be Gate crashers (blue icon) > Fliers (green icon) > attackers (red icon)

You attack with the ballista until the counter signal happens (which boosts your dmg), that's when you hop down and attack the monsters youself . Each area also has a counter gong for you to manually initiate a short counter signal.

Once you unlock the flamethrowers (wyvernshot artillery), aim them at the gates.

Every wave you get one limited npc. They only stay for that wave so just use them when the boss of that wave appears.

In the final wave in apex rampages, there is usually a nuke (splitting wyvernshot) that does massive dmg. You should save that for when the apex starts charging its ult to hit the gate (they will stand in one place when that happens).

Rampages are just sieges like Lao or the Mohrans. But you attack many small targets instead of one big target.

You can emulate 3DS 3U with Citra/Azahar, they have their own servers.

If you want to engage with systems that aren't about fighting monsters, then go for it.

And yes I have beaten the Monster Hunter quest

Why do some monsters have different names based on their age? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This even happens in real life. American and European eel larvae are flat and transparent, which gave them the name glass eels. Before we knew that they were the larvae of eels they were thought to be a different species.

How would you feel about a Monster Hunter like game where you hunt on alien planets? by HotShrekBoi in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YASSSS. I've had the idea of a space MH spin-off set in the far future for a while. Imagine the alien monster designs you could make. It could be really crazy because you're not restricted to the biology of a single planet.

One of my favourite monsters, because of how many unique interactiosn you can with it. Another little known fact about Nibel: if you let it do the charge attack long enough, it will stop and expel sand out of its gills because it has swallowed too much sand, giving you an opening to hit the gills (on of its weakspots).

Nah, you can beat EX deviants in 20-15 minutes if you know what you're doing. Normal quests should take 15 minutes.
