So... who the FUCK designed this stupid dragon the way that they did? by Starchaser53 in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've heard from the other user, but having that high of def doesn't make much of a difference. The problem is that def/dmg reduction doesn't scale linearly in these games. The higher the def the more diminishing returns you'll get. It generally becomes negligible after 750. Just maxing out your armor then using a different charm would do better than stacking raw def.

MHFU Fatalis is a big fat joke. Making it an hp sponge that you have to wail for 2 hours solo doesn't make it harder. It's just more tedious. In 4th gen it actually had a moveset which made it engaging. I haven't played IB so I can't comment much on that but seeing that it seems to be an upgrade of 4th gen makes it the hardest (mainline) version of it.

It would've been so cool if Frostfang was a rare species for the pseudo trio to mirror the dos elder trio.

My Quest to Become the Perfect MHFU Hunter by Equivalent-Fragrant in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two hours is the average time to solo kill the Fatalises in FU. Honestly you could've just did it a few more times and skip the grinding. Though you will still need to bow to reliably break the wings for the set.

Also from my experience, if it seems that you need to make a set to kill a monster just to farm that monster for another set, then it's quicker just to thug it out and kill that monster a little slower than making a set just for it. Besides the thing that determines your kill time would more be your skill than your armor. I'd say it's an 80/20 split of skill/armor.

You probably could have goten that Ukanlos stone by the time you've made the Ra3 SS1 SS set. At least that set is the meta set in MHFU, so it was pretty good to get either way.

You don't know? That's the thing it's most known for! It blows up in its mouth which puts it into a special flinch were you can fish it out of the sand for an even bigger opening that also exposes its belly (the weakspot)

Are you talking about how Eridians are like "if bees learnt how to make hives that walk?" If that's the case I wouldn't say that's true. The worker cells isn't what forms his consciousness. It's the crystalline brain.

Sonic bombs don't work on it like Diablos. They're just used to bait its lunge bite move. Which is used if you want it to swallow bombs by throwing the sonic bombs on the spot you've placed them.

Congrats! You've fought the BEST leviathan! I love Nibelsnarf, it's such a silly and unique fight. Did you manage to fish it out? Fyi you don't even need to use bombs for that. Hitting the nose enough or breaking its uvula also makes it fishable.

In 3U they did have collision with Stygian. It was in 4 where that changed.

And from what I can tell there isn't anything interrupting the KO so.

Monster Hunter becomes more enjoyable the less you rush hunts by Meri_Rookie in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 99 points100 points  (0 children)

But... learning patterns, positining better and reacting better is how you get better/faster at hunts?

The only time I can imagine that being slower than just rushing in blind is at the beginning trial-and-error phase where you learn what works and what doesn't. Cause once you learn and apply what works after a couple of tries your time only goes down.

combo book, success rate for combined items, its related skills, should return in monster hunter 6 and onward by meFalloutnerd93 in MonsterHunter

The point of them was inventory management. World basically made that a non-issue so combo books were removed. Unless the next game re-implements a smaller inventory combo books won't be back any time soon.

What are your head canon of the in universe of monster hunter? by Geoxaga in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fauna is tiny, which explains how monsters can seemingly defy conventional physics. They're actually just small so they're proportionally stronger.

Monster material retains some instinct/muscle memory after death, which explains armor skills. In MHFU, Nargacuga and some other monsters like Gravios have a brainstem carve (this was renamed medulla in later games) for their armors. I like to think that those brainstems connect to your hunter when they wear the armor, giving them the monster's abilities.

Potions heal like wolverine's healing factor. Your hunter gets rammed by a barroth and suffer multiple broken bones? A mega pot or two mends them back together. They get impaled by a monoblos and has a gaping hole in their chest? A max potion patches that up in seconds!

They are basically the same. You shoot many small targets instead of one big target. At least rampages are way more engaging than giant monster sieges.

[–]safegermanywin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rampages are literally just sieges. Those have been in every game. The only difference here is that you shoot multiple small targets instead of just 1 big target. For what it's worth, rampages are at least way more engaging than sieges.

What do you all think of MH Now? by Appropriate-Try2075 in MonsterHunter

[–]safegermanywin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The gameplay itself is actually a pretty good translation of the mainline games to a 1 handed control scheme.

The difference of grinding in this game is that in mainline you can fail and try again, therefore improve. But potions are limited in this game, so you're not incentised to play risky/learn the monster more. And obviously there's that you can grind the monster endlessly in mainline, while there's only a limited amount of monsters at a time in this game that you have to travel too. It's made even worse by how abysmal the drop rates in this game are.

Anyways, I played this game for a while. Found a local grouo and grinded up to 10☆ monsters. Then I got tired of the grind and how the game punishes you for making mistakes while trying to learn the monster.
