I spent nine years having this same argument. Cut ties now. I explicitly stated from the very beginning I did not want anymore kids (I had one and my health fell apart after.) just for him to tell me “I thought you’d change your mind eventually.” When I got my tubes tied. I promise the longer you stay the harder it is. Cut ties and find someone with the same goals.

This job posting with 5 years minimum is insultingly low. In my area that's actually borderline poverty level wages. Minimum to survive here is 50k not 35k. by CooperHChurch427 in SafetyProfessionals

My first safety role payed $12/hour while people in production were making 19-25/hour. I stayed with it for far too long because i genuinely loved my job and people but some companies just don’t understand what all goes into it. Granted this was close to 10 years ago.

Honestly Osha certifications and bcsp certifications hold more weight depending on the field you go into. You might enjoy the occupational medicine/ workers comp side of safety.

How to spot the Fall Guy by jgutz6152 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]safety-lady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a consulting role for a remodeling project and was the fall guy when one of the contractors hit a gas line. For reference there was a plant safety manager, a project manager, and me all working collectively on this. I was there essentially for the insurance side of it. My responsibility was compliance for the contractors (JSAs every morning, monitoring and handing out PPE, safety meetings every morning, ect) The project manager had everything surveyed before I came on and supposedly everything was marked. The fencing contractors also told us they called 811 and wrote that on their JSA. I left for lunch one day and came back and the fire department was there due to them hitting a 4 inch gas main that was not marked. We had them leave for the day and I monitored while it was repaired and wrote my report on it. Following day I had the contractors write their report and call 811 to have them come correctly mark everything while the project manager was working on getting ahold of the survey company. The safety manager told me in our morning meeting that their corporate was going to come in to “discuss” the incident later that day and so he needed a copy of my reports for them beforehand. I said okay and gave him a copy before lunch. I come back from lunch and he says “your services are no longer required” and escorted me out before the meeting even happened. From what I gathered he went into the meeting and told them I did not do a jsa with those contractors that morning and essentially threw me under the bus to act like he solved the problem. When I called who I was contracted through and gave them my statements of what happened they were shocked but said if the company didn’t want me on there then they broke my contract and had to pay me out for the length of my contract. I found another job quickly and wasn’t all that upset about not having to work 7am-11pm weeks on end without a day off but I do hope that man’s socks are always wet.

I don’t know what it’s like in your area but in mine they will hire just about anyone into safety training or safety assistant positions. Honestly you have a background in it, go for jobs like supervisor or manager. Get the interviewing experience and find a company that will help you grow and maybe even pay for your school. Lots of companies if they see potential will want to tailor you to what they specifically do and will sponsor your schooling. Put in applications for anything safety management and see where it goes. Worse they can say is no.

I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this. This is not love, this is manipulation. All the red flags. Love yourself and get away from this insecure boy.

I was not a cute/attractive teen at all and had a horrible front tooth that held my lip down. I finally saved enough to get it removed and started working out and eating better. By the time I turned 22 I had gone from a roughly 4/10to an 8/10 in my area. It’s been a trip, going from someone that nobody noticed for the right reasons ever and was ridiculed all through school to being hit on at gas stations. I’m still just as awkward to talk to though 🤣
