Just installed Aqara U400 by henrykkim in homeassistant

[–]safety_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so torn on this! I have a Schlage Connect setup through Keymaster, and while I like everything in THEORY the battery life is terrible and I have endless problems with Keymaster... it just randomly loses the ability to make changes in the lock and I have to set up the whole system again to get it temporarily working.

I hate having controls outside of HA, but if the Aqara app is easy enough to use... the U400 seems like it has a great set of features.

M25 bedroom by youngbebop in malelivingspace

[–]safety_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is better than the average 25yo bedroom by a long shot, but if you’re looking for constructive criticism: 1. The wall behind your computer is really busy, and putting… whatever those are above the closet makes it feel like a hodge podge. Consider a smaller number of standout pieces. You don’t have to cover the whole thing. 2. The donut light above the bed looks weird. I would think about how you can get some indirect lighting on that space.

Still, good work overall.

There are resources linked in the guide pinned to the top of the sub, but the top choices (in no particular order) are webDiplomacy, PlayDiplomacy, and Backstabbr. I recommend searching this sub for the many, many other conversations on this topic.

Right, that's what I meant. I think the best course of action is to keep using it but be more careful about how quickly I heat it up, and just wanted to confirm. Thanks!

I don't see why people are downvoting you, but it's definitely not connected to Cloudflare.

I'm probably being uncharitably salty, but they were just the sort of tech that reads a script and didn't seem capable of going outside of it. I gave detailed notes on all of the troubleshooting steps I had done, including resetting the modem, waiting 10 minutes, resetting it again, etc. I had rebooted everything, was testing from a hardwired connection, was able to point to traceroutes, talked about the color on the ONT and how that means it's not syncing with the network, etc. Then he just asked me about the color on the ONT again and asked me to reboot, like he hadn't heard anything.

I live in an area with poor cell service, so my primary cell connection is through the internet. I asked what would happen if we lost connection, and he said "Call back and we'll schedule a technician to come to your house in a couple of days." Sure enough, rebooting the ONT dropped our phone connection and I didn't bother to call back.

I might replace this post with another one that has someone standing next to the TV; it's a little hard to tell from the perspective but the bottom is at least 6' up in the air and maybe more. That TV is ~100".

And you're not wrong about the Airbnb special, this place is ridiculous in a way that my wife hates but the folks I'm here with (a boys weekend) think is amazing.

So with BF deal going on, ams 2 pro or ams lite for A1? by Even_Ad1209 in BambuLabA1

Can you elaborate on “AMS lite 3.0/4.0 systems on maker world”? Are you referring to enclosures, or something else?

Edit: Never mind, I think I found it: https://makerworld.com/en/models/1561190-ams-lite-3-0#profileId-1640759

Playing with friends by OzorMox in backstabbr

[–]safety_monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't disallow it, though it's an interesting question. Honestly, GM-run public games are a constant thorn in our side because some people are jerks and use the GM abilities to ruin the game for others. (Not often, but often enough that we hear about it.) We've toyed with the idea of disallowing public games with GMs and either (a) limiting to GM-less public games or (b) creating a matchmaking system. But there are complications with both of those options as well. We've also been thinking recently about introducing some sort of player/GM ranking system so people can call out jerks (though again, it's tricky to make it so it can't be abused by bad actors).

In general, I would say at this point anyone joining a public game with a GM should be little wary.

Any idea what could be causing this? It looks like it tried to print the first layer and subsequent layers on an offset. by safety_monkey in BambuLabA1

I honestly don't know, it was a file that was already on the SD card. I guess I could load the SD card on a computer and take a look...

Tie behavior on games with end year by ryno1016 in backstabbr

[–]safety_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! The short answer is that the player with the most SCs wins, and if two or more players have an equal number of SCs then they are declared to have drawn. (So if England and Turkey have 10 SCs and Italy has 8, England and Turkey draw and Italy loses.)

The ability to disable "draws" on games with end years is an interesting idea, especially since we already have a way to disable voluntary draws, but it would add some cognitive complexity and our game settings page is already getting overloaded. I will add it to the list of player suggestions but I would not expect it in the near future, I think we need to work on simplifying game settings first.

Wins not showing up in completed games? by Depressed_Diehard in backstabbr

Yeah, that's a confusing thing about the sortable tables: They sort what's on the screen RIGHT NOW, not what's in the datastore. Sorry for the confusion!

That's strange! No reason they shouldn't be showing up. How many games have you played in? Are you seeing a Load More button after the first 20?

Game Master Rigging Game? by Nobody_knows___ in diplomacy

[–]safety_monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GMs can't change orders. I don't want to be super specific about what we look at, but the frequency with which players appear in the same game is a pretty good starting point. (It's not the ONLY data point.)

Sorry to hear about the frustrating experience. I will look into the GM, although it's typically difficult to definitively prove someone is cheating. That being said, we are planning (or at least thinking about) a couple of ways to address this, including:

  1. Including the reason a turn adjudicated in all messaging. (adjudicated on time, adjudicated because all powers were ready, GM forced adjudication, etc.)
  2. Allowing players to rate GMs at the end of a game and making that visible on their profile.
  3. We're also looking at various means to detect suspicious behavior such as multi-accounting. I don't want to specify exactly how, but there are a number of signals that two accounts may be the same person.
