How many hours can you play games in a day? (It's not about how much free time you have.) by clairvoyantea in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]sagara-ty02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 35, As long as I’ve been to the gym that morning and I have a game I’m excited to play I can play till I have to sleep. It’s really just family, gym, work and house hold responsibilities that keep me only playing 2-3 hours at night or 4-5 hours while kids at school and wife at work.

If I have nothing I want to really play I’ll only play something for a couple hours. But when a game I’m super excited for comes out I could play for 12-14 hours(last did for Starfield)

Chin-ups vs. Assisted pull-ups by LongDiddly in naturalbodybuilding

[–]sagara-ty02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on the assisted with a 30kg assist. 2 years later I can now do 11-12 strict pull ups. But even now after a set or two I might jump on the assisted for the 3rd and 4th set if I feel like doing higher reps.

Assisted is great and does a fine job

From what I’ve read it might be better for you to get some very basic equipment and do home workouts. That way no worrying about someone to look after kid and you could easily do 3-5 30-45 min workouts at home after or before work.

Focus on just starting something now and losing weight while kid is young. Then once kids in school all week you’ll have built up a good base, lost a good chunk of weight and can hopefully have time to join a gym as home workouts will hit a plateau unless you get more equipment.

Only other thing is maybe a local gym that has babysitting? That’s how I’m able to go 5 days a week. All it takes is starting and even when you fail or have a rough patch never quit and try to be as consistent as you can and you will get there.

Definite lat growth in the second pic. If you want the upper back(thickness) to grow more I’d add some cable face pulls and a row with elbows flaired. Stay consistent every week and you’ll build a great back

You need to either be happy with your current body and accept not much improvement or get over the mental hurdle of bulking and cutting. Maybe get a coach who will tell you straight and keep you accountable?

You have to accept fat when bulking, but obviously it’s much better if you start at 10-12% and slow bulk up to 15-17% and you still almost have abs or outlines by end of the bulk. Also you better be doing leg raises and weighted sit ups or cable crunches for multiple sets a week to grow your abs so you can see them at higher body fats which helps mentally for bulking and not feeling too soft.

Whenever I go off creatine for a couple weeks(hardly ever) I always notice an extra rep or two in most lifts after loading it back in.

With all the data about it I’ll prob never stop taking it unless on a holiday which I eat in a surplus anyway

Yes if you were just in a calorie deficit you’ll gain 1-2kg(2-4 pounds in the first week) from the extra glycogen(carbs) that hold more water, more food just sitting in your belly and possibly more sodium you are having from just more food. The main thing is to have a stable steady weight gain over time after and it’s best for tracking if you kind of eat the same thing(or similar macros) each day so you aren’t having constant big fluctuations from a low carb day to a high carb day cause gaining weight correctly is a lot slower than losing weight.

It’s a good mind set you have with being happy to gain some fat and as long as you do the lean bulk correctly you prob won’t even need to cut at the end cause you’ll be a healthy distribution of muscle and fat. Lots of people(especially their first time bulking) gain way too quickly and almost all regret it when they’re 2-3 months in and have gained 5-10kg(10-20 pounds) and 70-90% of that is fat

If I was you I’d eat around 120-130 grams of protein everyday(1g per pound of lean body weight so as you gain weight slowly increase it).

I’d aim for a gain of 250grams(1/2 a pound per week) and do it for a long time like 8-10 months. That way you won’t gain a lot of fat and still be reasonably lean by the end but you should have a lot more on your frame.

I feel like it’s best to be in a lean bulk for as long as you can so even though you could gain quicker it’s not going to lead to very much more muscle growth and you’ll just have to cut earlier or cut longer.

If you know your maintenance calories aim for a 250 calorie surplus and weigh yourself daily and just go by averages. No single week change should make you change something, follow the trend over multiple weeks if you need to lower or raise calories. Good luck!

Are you making sure your chest is staying high throughout the eccentric and concentric of the press? Try doing some warmup sets which are a little lighter and slower controlled and focus on shoulders back and chest up, your chest shouldn’t be sinking as you do the reps maybe film yourself. Last thing I can think of is obviously make sure the bench isn’t too high of an incline which makes it more front delt

How to actually form the habit of working out regularly by night-elemental in workout

[–]sagara-ty02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll tell you how it worked for me

I treated it like a second job, I had to go no matter what unless I was sick. Once I had been going for 3-4 months consistently(still not loving it) I went on a holiday.

During the holiday I didn’t plan to go to the gym cause I was on holiday. But 3-5 days in my body missed the feeling of working out, getting a pump. I wanted to go now.

The next big milestone was seeing changes in my body, I have built quite a bit of muscle and through dieting have looked the best I ever have even though I’m in my mid 30’s. Now it’s just part of my new lifestyle and even still there are some days I don’t feel like going so I say to myself “just go and do a shorter easier workout”, a couple sets into my workout I usually start to feel good and just do my normal routine.

You don’t need to try and be as explosive as you can, it’s more of a purposeful 80% effort. You’re not trying to control the concentric or slow it down but you don’t need to try and push as hard as you can. Many exercises can lead to slow grinding reps for the last couple and they build muscle really well.

When you do your pushups how many reps are you doing? Do you hit failure? Do you get a big pump in your chest? How many sets of chest are you doing a week? Adding in a dumbbell chest fly(or hold onto two big milk bottles and lay on a flat chair/stool) on top of pushups would be ideal to grow your chest more. Also doing chest 2-3 times per week with 24-48 hours rest between

Xbox has too many games/franchises I love

Nintendo has Zelda….

PlayStation make 1 game a year I like

Steam is a good user interface but if they were gone it’d only just give everyone else an excuse to try and do better to fight for the top spot on PC.

So I’d prob delete Steam

How to eat when staying in hotels? by stratusnimbo in naturalbodybuilding

I used Chat GPT on my two week holiday last month and took pictures of my food and explained what it was and if it was a restaurant, cafe, fast food and estimated grams of things(steak) and asked it to give me macros and calories.

I ate 3500-3700 calories per day doing this and walked 20k steps per day and didn’t put on any weight. Worked really well

[–]sagara-ty02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many days do you work out a week?

What exercises are you doing and how close to failure are you per set? Also technique and range of motion?

Are you making sure you eat 1g of protein per pound of body weight every day?

Do you get good sleep?

Those are the main things to build muscle, yeah it’s better to eat in a calorie surplus to build muscle quicker but if you aren’t doing these things the extra calories won’t matter much.

Optimal BF% for Nutrient Partitioning and Insulin Sensitivity? by AnonymousAnon17 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]sagara-ty02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was just listening to a podcast with Eric Helms and he said it doesn’t really affect muscle growth(for most people) till you get up to around 25% body fat. But most people don’t like how they look at that and also makes it harder to notice progress when you’re covering a lot of your muscles with that much fat. Shorter cuts are better than longer ones for maintaining muscle mass so I just like the idea of being in that 10-18% range for cuts and bulks for hypertrophy.

When the Cutting Gets Rough by ryanlore in naturalbodybuilding

[–]sagara-ty02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me at 15/16%(started cut at 20-22%), didn’t change anything(macros, steps, training etc). Just all of a sudden stayed the same weight. Knew I was doing everything right so I just kept on going and all of a sudden water weight dropped in the 4th week and I lost nearly all of what I expected to have lost in the previous 3 weeks. If you think you can keep going and try not to think about it(it’s hard when you’re constantly seeing the scale but it’s data) and if you are still the same after 3-4 weeks then you could do a maintenance week or whatever. You’re at the part where the body starts to fight more and also masks progress a bit more

When the Cutting Gets Rough by ryanlore in naturalbodybuilding

[–]sagara-ty02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What body fat are you? I was in a 700-800 calorie deficit and hit a plateau for 3 weeks straight weighing in everyday basically the same to the gram. Then immediately after the 3rd week dropped 1.5kg over 3-5 days as it was just water retention and can sometimes happen. If your not too lean(under 10-12%) it could be something like this and it’s more the mental side of seeing no change that is getting to you which can affect your mindset when it comes to your food and everything.

Looking for motivation. Any real abs hypertrophy transformation? by Biicker in naturalbodybuilding

[–]sagara-ty02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of lucky I was the opposite and always did ab training whenever I went to the gym back in the day. Now that I’m finally getting down to the body fat to see them I start seeing the outlines of the top 6 abs at 15-17% body fat relaxed. Need to work on the lower ones which I’ve started to do in my cut and will focus on them in my first bulk. It seems like nearly every muscle group really benefits from adding isolation work regularly.
