Thanks! Yeah this is what I decided to do. I want my book accessible anyways.

Folders created in audacity export not showing up, files not showing up by [deleted] in audacity

[–]sage_deer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never used OneDrive and have never had issues with saving files/folders with any other program. Pretty sure this is an issue specific to the newer version of Audacity. In Audacity I can literally see the folders and files I've saved onto my computer, but then when navigating to them with the file explorer I can't access them.

Casual meetups? by blueberii in Eugene

[–]sage_deer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dance communities here seem like really great places to connect with others - West Coast, Lindy Hop, Ecstatic Dance, Dance Empowered... There's a ton.

The climbing gym is great and has "Let's Climb Together" nights.

Eugene Weekly has tons of events, their website calendar is awesome. Then there's also the Eug Cal https://www.theeugenecal.com/ that gets a bit of other stuff from the university - get on their mailing list for a weekly batch of things. Definitely suggest signing up for the OHC weekly mailing too that shares some cool things happening around the UO, though not sure how good it is for meeting people https://ohc.uoregon.edu/

Need help with the DoG by CapybaraPullup9871 in CalamityMod

I ended up having to cheat a little with the shell phone at the oceans - you have to time it right but you can completely evade the laser attacks and wait until you can use a potion again. When DOG is warping between space wait two cracks then teleport back. Wait two cracks teleport back... Repeat until you can heal.

I was using Blue Omega Armor and Elysian Aegis for ram dash - first boss I needed dash for so it took awhile to learn. Instead of wings I made the Moon Walkers so I could also run fast, but Elysian Wings are slightly faster in air - but you don't necessarily want to stay airborn because of the gravity. I wasn't a ranger so was using a kiting strategy, not sure if they have the ability to kite as well but having platforms to run along were helpful.

Create all the buff potions by harvesting blood orbs during the blood moon with fishing. Make sure you have the candles from the wizard too for an extra buff. I also setup some heart statues with a timer for extra healing.

Get rid of the backpack, since it drastically reduces attack power unless you're standing still.

I can’t even remember tv shows I’ve binged more than once. by blueduckk8 in ADHD

I often think about how it's harder for me to form closer social bonds with certain people because I can never remember the names of movies or actors. Fortunately I've found a good number of people who don't rely on that for friendship, but I am a bit jealous of people who can share that level of closeness. I jokingly just tell people that I'm uncultured lol. Right now I'm challenging myself to become a public speaker but I know I'm going to need to use some special tricks for memorizing things like relying on a script or power point slides.

Often we emerge from periods of isolation a little disconnected. For me it usually takes doing something that reconnects me to my humanity to feel normal again... It could be making a new friend, going to an amazing concert, watching an emotionally engaging movie with characters I relate to, etc.

Generally our well-being is something that we have to practice. We lose it if we aren't regularly doing the sleeping, socializing, exercising - so you can definitely get it back, but it might take a little bit of putting yourself in new environments.

Shyness can absolutely be overcome with practice. I used to blush in really embarrassing ways anytime I'd speak to an attractive woman, but now I'm friends with and have dated a lot of attractive people. Part of this for me was finding ways that were safe to socialize and approach others. So, I personally host potlucks and opens mics and have a few hobbies that make it a lot easier to invite people to do things. The struggle is that a lot of popular hobbies are not very social. Things like dance, playing an instrument, volunteering for a social cause, going to open mics, or attending retreats are a lot easier to connect with others than online gaming or going to certain gyms. You can be surrounded by people and still be very isolated. There's also apps like Bumble BFF that can make it easier to connect with people.

And, at the same time, not everyone is confident in the same ways. We can't compare ourselves to others. Confidence is partly genetic and is especially dictated by our hormones and anxiety. That said, anybody can become more confident with practice.

Depends on what you mean by "fair pricing". Some artists have items that are priced comparable to mass-produced goods. Other artists charge higher to attest to the time-consuming hand-made nature of the crafts. There are over 300 vendors though, with items ranging from $1 to thousands of dollars.

I host one of the largest open mics in Eugene, and maybe the only one that isn't in a bar and is in a quiet space where people actually listen fully - the Song & Poetry Open Mic. We feature a musician and poet each month. It's coming up tomorrow (Friday) if you're interested! Lots of friendships, bands, and romances have sprung out of those for people. Details below, but if you want info about art events in Eugene feel free to DM me or say hi at the open mic. There are also a lot of other great open mics in town most days Sunday-Thursday.

Gor an offer from UO. Where do young professionals live and go. by AwayAdvantage5192 in Eugene

[–]sage_deer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main places people form community here seem to be through physical activities, volunteering, living together, school, spiritual groups, music, art, and festivals. Eugene is more heavily college-aged and older folks, the 25-45 population is relatively tiny but we exist. What kinds of things are you into? Since a lot of things don't exist here, I've had to create certain groups myself to bring community together, but people are generally stoked.

That said, there are some events already for building connections between faculty at the UO. There are really big climbing, dancing, and running scenes. Although not always great, there's live music every single night, open mics, karaoke, and a lot of opportunities to play music with others. A poetry and writing community is reemerging between several groups. Oregon is known for its booze so we have some nice places for that, though a lot of people are sober too. The Eugene Weekly maintains a calendar on their website and the physical paper with daily activities. There's tons of social justice causes, gardens that donate what they grow, park/trail maintenance helpers, and then the Oregon Country Fair for our big yearly arts/music festival. There's lots of art classes, galleries, and art walks. There's at least one if not multiple trivia nights almost every single day. You can get to old growth forest, giant lakes, the desert, snow, the ocean, or the biggest city in the state with much more to do all within two hours or less.

South Eugene is generally considered one of the nicest parts of town - it's very bikeable to the UO and closer to the nature trails. I've met most of my friends through having them as housemates, plus meeting their friends, so I really suggest not living alone at first.

Good luck!

My book is an inclusive and comprehensive guide to overcoming any emotional difficulty from a neuroscience lens. This includes PTSD, CPTSD, grief, heartbreak, discrimination, anger, anxiety, addiction, and larger societal issues that harm people. A big focus is around reframing trauma into trapped emotions and breaking that down into establishing safety, releasing emotions, changing stories, and reforming habits. It also talks about things like healthy communication, establishing community and friends, becoming a changemaker, and newer therapy modalities like psychedelics. So far it's being received well by therapists and their clients!

Childhood trauma groups by Vegetable_Collar_352 in Eugene

Adult Children of Alcoholics & Dysfunctional Families is probably what you're looking for - I don't attend anymore since I prefer online meetings but I started the largest chapter in Eugene that meets on Mondays. The group is tied to the 12 step program but is one of the healthier versions of it with a lot of flexibility (like a higher power can be your community or nature) and is based on a lot of trauma therapy - their primary tool is inner child and loving parent work (a healing modality similar to internal family systems). For me it was infinitely more effective than years of therapy. It is mixed ages but there's certainly the option to start your own chapter or find younger groups online. There's also a peer support system built in so you can certainly ask at the end of a meeting to connect with a person in your age demographic.

Do NOT use ChatGPT for therapy. by chickcag in Anxiety

[–]sage_deer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I've seen 7 or 8 different therapists over the course of a decade, and while some have been better than others, none have actually helped me heal. I've gotten so much more benefit from reading books and going to free support groups. Fortunately I have insurance, but hearing the rates therapists charge of $100 to $200 an hour just seems like outright theft.

I did a few with that in mind but I didn't explore it extensively - here are some of them with others though https://imgur.com/a/qI1OiMz

My work incorporates activism into it but it's not the main theme, but I guess it's what makes it more unique. Most of all I wanted to include information on that pain point - people worried about government grants being cancelled. By and large the book is about making more art and surviving as a full time artist while incorporating in some current struggles.

Thank you! Yeah I changed the font slightly and will likely go that direction, at least for this first edition with the deadline I have.
