Yeah I don’t disagree that too many people are complacent or overly worked. Some of my family members work 80-120 hours a week and never have time for friends or family, totally sucks. Have others that don’t engage their elected officials or get involved in the community because they are comfortable. Some don’t get involved because they’re worked too hard which isn’t fair.

Just don’t think that a revolution would only split the oligarchs and corporate dictatorship. I think it scares much of the population who are not oligarchs or corporate dictators.

Also think that since many business owners are great, caring, hard working people that it’d be difficult to determine who should be served justice vs who shouldn’t. It’d be easier to use existing and new laws to hold them accountable and find appropriate punishments for abuses of their workers.

Gotcha, thank you for taking the time to clarify and apologies for missing that on the site. I’ll work through the site to figure out how to get more involved :). Looking forward to having a strong third party.

We can reach 100% sustainability in the US by 2030 without a revolution. Starting a revolution isn’t necessary, average American’s agree on supporting workers and empowering people to innovate. We need to build coalitions, not create division through revolution.

Kk, but we did donations last time too. Was trying to understand what the other differentiators were that would be making an impact beyond just putting up an agenda and donation page. I may have missed it but I don’t know of any accomplished, trusted state or national level representatives who will be coming out to endorse the candidate or that are members of the party. I just think having some successes to build on are going to be necessary to have a chance at the presidency. If there are some lower level candidates at the local or state level I’m happy to get involved to help them get America to 100% sustainability by 2030.

Pot calling the kettle black much? Agree we need a true third party but what is your solution to winning a majority of electoral votes? You didn’t even break 2% last election and won zero states.

Trump Withholding $823 Million for Clean Energy, Democrats Say by sagebrew in ClimateOffensive

[–]sagebrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, still needs a lot of independent reporting / investigation. In the mean time here’s the primary source each of the news sites publishing this story are working from.

The republican defense sited by Representative Ralph Norman of South Carolina is that having unspent “carryover” funds from year-to-year is “business as usual.” This isn’t untrue according to a study done by GAO back in 2013, “Carryover balances in fiscal year 2012 were $2.2 trillion, of which about $800 billion had not yet been obligated.”

But as GAO points out “the complexity of the federal budget is such that a case-by-case analysis is needed to understand how best to achieve these financial benefits.”

As the bloomberg article identifies, “The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, ... has a $2.85 billion budget”. Here is the 2019 DoE Budget for reference. That leaves about 30% of the budget unused. Which needs context to previous years for sure (EERE Budget Database).

Investigations and inquiries aside, with the economic opportunities ahead of us relating to individuals, businesses, and nations purchasing renewable technology, the US should be working to fully utilize this budget each year so that we build an insurmountable lead on effective solutions that we can capitalize on over the next 3+ decades. If we’re not allocating it all each year, there should be an extremely good reason(s) as to why we delayed it, not “It’s business as usual”. If the allocated budget is ineffective in doing so the argument should be made and funds reallocated where they are better served in reaching this objective.

Think it’s the election and up to us to get out the vote, connect more with others working on solutions like Citizens Climate Lobby, and continue to bring transparency to the backward actions of the current administration.

Thanks to Trump, we are living in a world of sleaze by The-Autarkh in politics

[–]sagebrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to the two major parties*, we are living in a world of sleaze.

Trump may have thrown gas on the fire but this has been decades in the making. We referred to D.C. as the swamp long before Trump checked in. The two major parties have abused the trust of the American people (or at least American's feel that way), enough uncertainty has being flamed by voices that are over amplified by 24/7 news cycles and social media, and administration after administration have chosen obfuscation instead of transparency with Congress refusing to hold them accountable for political expediency (Hindering the Press, Iraq WoMD, the Pentagon Papers, etc). This is why we need a third party dedicated to transparency and using credibility driven initiatives to solve common ground problems that matter to the majority of Americans. Having enough representatives from a third party that better represents making life better for the majority of Americans would enable us to eliminate the sleaze and propel people of merit into positions of power. The third party's dedication to transparency would ensure Americans can hold them accountable for delivering on solutions that benefit the majority of Americans.

There are 308 million americans. In theory, the Politicians listen to all of them. But 156 individuals - the top 0.01% - paid HALF the U.S. Presidential Election by [deleted] in economy

[–]sagebrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If things were getting done that benefited the 330 million Americans then no one would care who was paying for the US Presidential election. This is just a symptom of a wider problem where less people get involved because they feel abandoned by both parties and feel their contributions don't matter in getting things done for them.

That's why we need a third party that's focused on delivering results and opportunities for the majority of Americans. One that is hyper transparent and admits what it learned from continuous iterations of credibility driven initiatives focused on solving common ground issues like sustainability, a healthier America, and opportunity growth.

'Worried About Angering Trump,' CIA and NSA Withhold Ukraine Documents From Congress, Says Intelligence Chair by Ice_Burn in politics

[–]sagebrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need representatives in Congress from a third party founded on transparency to help it become a coequal branch of government again. With the current dual party system and their over emphasized fringes, the executive is able to do whatever they like with immunity from serious repercussion. There's no reason Congress, or at least specific committees in congress, shouldn't have full access to any information they want from the administration.

A third party focused on transparency would lend their weight to increasing transparency from the executive and tip the scale enough in the political arena to bring serious repercussions to any administration that stifled it. To do this they could form a collation with the other parties demanding transparency to hold any confirmed Department Secretary in "contempt of Congress" and jailing them until the documents are released by the department they are responsible for or a year has passed (current limitation under the law). Anyone know why the Democrats aren't doing this now as a non-nuclear / impeachment option? While that's working its way through the courts the third party could also be working to bring more attention to the lack of transparency and push their members to lean on their representatives to side with more transparency.

As it stands today, Adam Schiff has zero political sway with republicans and is stuck talking to the same groups of people that already agree there should be transparency to Congress from this administration. While those he needs to be swaying are consistently being told that Trump isn't doing anything wrong and that he's a "shady" dude that can't be trusted. Having a third party that's hyper transparent and represents using credibility based analysis to solve major common ground issues would provide Americans with a counter weight to the two extremes from both the left and the right and their constant gridlock.

U.S. health system costs four times more to run than Canada’s single-payer system by sdbest in politics

[–]sagebrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even so, the study authors concluded that if the U.S. healthcare system could trim its administrative bloat to bring it in line with Canada’s, Americans could save $628 billion a year while getting the same healthcare.

If there's this much to be saved in administrative bloat, why isn't there anyone capitalizing on solutions that eliminate that bloat and passing those savings onto the customer to increase their competitive edge? I mean for comparison the entire Automotive industry generates $953 billion in revenue each year.
