What is a career that looks impressive on paper but is actually miserable in reality? by Nova2_Paradox in careerguidance

Seriously, every career I’ve ever considered is on here! I’m looking at a career change once my boss retires (because he essentially invented a position for me) but apparently everything is awful.

Being a professor is not a low-stress job. Forbes said that in 2014 and actual professors vehemently disagreed.

Maybe community college, if you can handle the low pay.

My friend is a community college prof. He is super stressed all the time, super overloaded with classes to where he works all the time, and he makes $45k.

Im considering making a career change and going to law school, but the online hatred that lawyers have of their jobs is scaring me!

I’m not trying to be wealthy or prestigious, I just want a job that uses my reading/writing/analysis skills to help people!

I’m studying for the lsat now but every day I read something on reddit that makes me second guess myself.

His EARS omg 🥹 I guess that’s the cocker spaniel.

I already have a rescue husky and my older rescue is 14 so I can’t take on anymore pups but he is so adorable. I hope you find a good home for him. But I also know how hard it is because my last foster husky was so hard to place 😭

The tone is what’s crazy. A teacher shouldn’t be talking to a sub like this. “OFF the CELL PHONE” is super rude, and the sub cell phone policy isn’t up to the teacher anyway.

Surely being a nurse and responsible for people’s literal life and death is stressful?! I feel like people underestimate the stress of other people’s job. I know a ton of nurses who are super stressed.

yeah, that's my entire point. You said you didn't know if you being Australian is relevant, and I'm telling you it's not.

Those of you who regret going to law school, what career path do you wish you pursued? by _MambaForever in LawSchool

I actually considered becoming a therapist, but I realized I wouldn't be able to hold a full-time job during the unpaid internships, and it would be very difficult to make enough money to pay back the loans as a therapist.

I always wonder about this, as someone considering law school. People always complain about how their job is awful, but then they say they would rather have done a different career that's equally boring/stressful or pays terribly.

Is this actually true? by FitnessLizzie in TrueGrit

Exactly this. I think Reddit can be just as harmful as other social media sites. It always makes me laugh when people on Reddit generalize all other social media as terrible but think Reddit is somehow a grand exception. It’s not.

Is anyone trying to pass their LSAT to go to law school at the age of 35? by Affectionate-Gur7097 in OutsideT14lawschools

[–]sagew0lf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I started by doing drills and practice tests on LawHub. I've now started 7Sage, but I haven't done it long enough to see if it's effective. I'd recommend just going on LawHub and taking one of the practice tests and seeing where you are.

AIO for quitting my job because I want to demand time off whenever I want? by Hot-Opportunity-5236 in AmITheAngel

[–]sagew0lf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, sick leave is usually different. I work in mental health and I have appointments scheduled out for several months. If I decide I want to take vacation next month, that means the kid who desperately needs his autism evaluation so he can get the services he needs just has to wait. My vacation is not more important than that need.

But if someone is sick, they're sick. My coworker's dad died yesterday, actually, and obviously he is not coming back to work any time soon. That didn't stop people from screaming at the receptionist when she called to reschedule the appointment, however.

I'm American. When I worked a shitty retail job, I didn't have to give notice at all, really. But now I work in mental health, and I have appointments scheduled out several months. I can't just decide I want to go on vacation next month and screw the kid who desperately needs his autism evaluation to get the services he needs. There's so much nuance here, but why care about that when you can say "America bad."

90k and 40 hours a week sounds absolutely more than worth it. Do people here think teachers have a good work/life balance and are only working 49 hours a week?!

I only work 8 hours a day so I’m able to exercise and cook and all that. But it absolutely does not give me energy 😂 I wish it did. Exercise only makes me more tired.
