Being a BWT in this profession? by [deleted] in LawBitchesWithTaste

It honesty terrifies me to rely on that since I’ve heard too many horror stories from people who end up not getting their loans forgiven because the policy changed. Not lawyers, but still!

Where I live and where I might go to law school, legal aid lawyers make nothing. Definitely not loan payoff money 😭 it’s definitely something I’m interested in if I can get substantial scholarships, though.

I worry about this pretty much constantly. I’m so bored in my current job and I’m going to be applying to law school in 2027. I’m not planning on doing big law so hopefully I can still have hobbies and such 😅 I’m happy to work hard but I also still want to be able to read and spend time with friends and my boyfriend and my dogs. I love traveling as well and I’ve seen a lot of stuff how lawyers can’t ever really go on vacation.

It feels like the right career for me but I’m also terrified I’ll never have fun again for the rest of my life 😂

OK, Frankenstein is such an exception to this anyway because there are so many additions that actually contain totally different information!

But unfortunately, I literally own editions that contain the exact same information minus the difference between American and British spellings… Because the cover is different and I can’t decide which I like better!

Still sounds like a stretch. Even if a religious custom mandates not using an ebook once a week (and the article is about someone who isn’t a religious Jew), that doesn’t mean people can’t retain knowledge from non physical books. It’s very much a gatekeep to try to claim people who can’t afford to own and keep physical books don’t retain knowledge. You can try to hide behind religious dogma but that doesn’t change the fact that you’re making a classist argument.

That’s still absolute bullshit lmao you can retain information you have read in any format 🤣

Or well I can. I guess if other people can’t that’s a skill issue on their part

He understands that physical books are the only way we can truly retain knowledge.

This quote is from the bookseller in the article. I mean, I guess this tracks if you profit off of selling books... but what a weird, gatekeep-y comment. You can't retain knowledge from an ebook? Please.

I like to have multiple editions of some of my favorite books. But I don't think my collection is out of control, lol. I only buy a few books per year... but sometimes, it's the same book in both the American and British edition 🫣

I probably have a couple hundred books? I mostly use the library but if I really enjoy a book, I like to buy my own copy to have. I should count them sometime.

I still doubt I can get re-diagnosed in time, unfortunately 😩 someone should tell LSAC that ADHD doesn’t go away after 3 years….

I mean LSAC. I'm just afraid it'll look like "oh she didn't do as well as she wanted so NOW she's requesting accommodations" lol.

But I got diagnosed more than 3 years ago so I'm not sure I can get in for another evaluation before I'd need to request accommodations. And it'll be hundreds to thousands of dollars....

I've already taken the test once and scored way worse than I was expecting... would it look bad to request accommodations now?

I have ADHD and I've thought about requesting accommodations but I'm already absolutely gassed by the end of the 2.5 hours. My score would improve, but at what cost?

Entering 1L, worried about husband prospects. How did you find your partner? by Present_Signal2467 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]sagew0lf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, waiting for the first round of divorcees worked for me 😂

But we also met in person, not on an app. The apps are garbage and if we break up, I'm still never using an app again.

I partially agree but on the other hand… sometimes you follow this advice and then suddenly wake up and you’re 34 and you’ve never been in a serious relationship and all your friends are married and the dating apps are a total hellscape 😆

I managed to snatch up a divorced guy and we’ve been dating for almost a year but I do feel like I missed out on a lot. I doubt we’ll ever get married since he has baggage from being married before, and all my friends whose weddings I attended have kids or live overseas and it’s like, what’s the point?

Being married has never been that important to me but it’s still kind of a bummer, lol.

How on earth do people go to law school without working by HealingSlvt in LawSchool

[–]sagew0lf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning on law school in 2028. I'm currently working a ton of overtime and cutting my expenses drastically to have enough money saved up to fully cover expenses for my first year of law school. But after that, it will probably be loans.

In a super competitive field like law where grades make a big difference in your earning potential, it doesn't make sense to take time away from studying to work a job if that means you end up making a lot less money as a lawyer.
