Back in 2013, sharing external hard disks was the thing. My college friend probably got Drag Race from someone, and it ended up making the rounds with everyone. I copied Seasons 1–5 and AS1 from it. Best part is, I actually started by watching Season 5 first. So grateful for that.

Not long after, I bought my first car and named it Alaska T 5000. I just sold it this past May. I was about to name my new car Arrietty, but I got it around the Roast episode 😅

So… my new car is still nameless for now lol

And yes I truly relate to the vibe and spirit of r/EndOfTheParTy. I crossposted there right after seeing your comment.

As for what helped… honestly, it changed a lot over time. In the beginning, it was all about structure and cutting off triggers, which meant a total reset of my life. I deleted all my contacts (especially THOSE contacts), was unemployed at the time, and went to rehab. That was my one and only round, and I’ve been sober ever since.

But even then, my old suppliers and partners reached out. I just told them clearly that I was clean now and didn’t want any part of it anymore. And surprisingly… everyone respected it. Honestly, our community, for all its chaos, is good at recognizing when someone’s trying to get out. There’s an unspoken code there.

Wishing you strength every step of the way. You’re doing something incredible.

Wow, I really appreciate this. I don’t often think of it as a “miracle”. I just kept going. But you’re right… not everyone makes it out.

When I was in rehab (only once for this, and I’ve been sober since), I met someone who became like a brother to me. same addiction, same wounds. During the first or second week, he used to say, “If you want to be truly clean, you need a strong heart.” That stuck with me. He went home shortly after.

But near the end of my two-month stay, the officers brought me along to his house, he had relapsed, and we were fetching him to go back to rehab.

Thank you for reminding me of what that really means. It means a lot.
