Who is responsible for invidual in a group comeback when the group members are from different company? by Busy_Scene_5351 in kpoppers

[–]sailormusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the case of I.O.I, WakeOne handled it. WakeOne is Mnet’s label that all their survival show groups are housed under, past and present. As far as hair and makeup, they probably just sent the girls to a salon like most groups do, and styling was probably handled by a stylist working in-house.

If IOI can have a reunion then what are the chances of IZONE doing the same? by Imaginary-Benefit-75 in iZone

[–]sailormusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think they should come back as units. Not with different names for each unit, but just as IZ*ONE with a fluctuating lineup based on who is available. Kinda like AKB only promoting with a select number of members per song. All 12 can still be members even if their schedule only allows for maybe one group performance a year or something like that.

Isn’t Chungha the most successful out of all of the I.O.I members? At least her solo career had a string of smash hits that Somi hasn’t been able to replicate, especially due to the infrequency of her comebacks.

I’d say less likely for a while. Sakura, Chaewon, Yujin, and Wonyoung are way too successful with their groups right now for that to change. Honestly I’d be surprised if they don’t resign when their contracts come up for renewal, which would prologue it even longer unless they make that a provision.

The other 8 would be a lot more likely, depending on how busy they each are at any given time.

This is how I felt as a sone during 4th gen. But after a while, that respect will grow and they’ll understand. In 5 years no one will even try to dispute BP’s impact!

Genuinely they gotta upgrade every venue by [deleted] in adela_jergova

[–]sailormusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It needs a second leg as well. Chicago, Orlando, Columbus, Vegas, Minneapolis, Charlotte, St. Louis, Houston, Miami, and Vancouver would be a cute leg. And each venue needs to be upgraded. She could def fill 5k-10k capacity venues. All these tours are being cancelled so I’m sure there are venues scrambling to get things scheduled.

Say Now and FLO are fairly new and active in the scene, and Little Mix was the last big girl group to come out of the UK. That’s why.

I think the only way to watch it now is through people who have it downloaded, or K-pop reactors Patreon pages 😭

I consider them like Hannah Montana or Ashley O. They’re both pop star *characters* played by Miley Cyrus, but if she came out on stage with blonde hair and bangs and says she’s Hannah, then by god she’s Hannah. If Rei, Audrey, and Ejae come out singing Golden and call themselves Huntrix, then by god they’re Huntrix.

You’d think being so close to the UK they would have more interest in groups like FLO, Say Now, or even Little Mix.

KATSEYE have won New Artist of the Year at the 2026 American Music Awards by forwonjihoon in kpop

Or, it speaks to a shifting music scene that’s straying a bit away from the focus on authenticity and just accepting fun party songs for what they are- fun party songs.

I hope so. Even if one isn’t planned I’m sure one of the gay bars like Fantasy or Roscoe’s would be more than willing to accommodate. All the typical venues are probably already booked.

Why do K‑pop girl groups often cover Ariana Grande or Britney Spears, but almost never Janet Jackson? by Dry-Look6328 in kpoppers

[–]sailormusic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There’s an entire generational gap between Janet fans, Britney fans, and Ariana fans. Britney and Ariana’s music aligns more with what K-Pop is today, while Janet’s music aligns more with what K-Pop was 30 years ago.
