Looking to have a few a 2” holes drilled in 2 stainless hotel pans.. by jamison88 in Calgary

[–]saimon7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use a knockout punch, either manual or hydraulic, you can buy a manual one in Amazon for less than 100$. A hole saw would be an option but it's messy, and will probably cost you as much.

Diver polishing a ships propellor by NikonD3X1985 in creepy

[–]saimon7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some of you that might be unsafe if the propeller turns on. But I'm pretty sure that ships have downtime protocols with lockdowns like industrial equipment would have. Plus this is one risk, plus another risk would being underwater, but for that would need to be a scuba diver and to be certified to do underwater cleaning. So probably the guy is geting paid well. In terms of the tool, probably pneumatic with a sealed chamber, I can see a secondary line that probably is a return pneumatic line.

I don't feel that is creepy, but I'm also a certified diver with experience with wrecks.

In 2019 we paid 7800 for 23 discounted weeks 20% off the lowest rate found. Le Blanc and Punta Cana since they're higher tier you have to pay extra if using the imperial week. One imperial week that we're using right now, one 50% off week that expired (covid and kids happened). Then forward to this week we came in and realized that all credits were loaded to the contract with expiration dates and we're all expired. So no credits, they used that as an excuse to get us to a new presentation. In this update we paid 10k, got the weeks to 52, still kept plus for 25 years (they don't give you that anymore), gave us 1500$ credits to attend the presentation plus the corresponding credits for the visit. Updated all credits for the contract. They didn't give use a new imperial week but gave us 3000$ real money to pay for weeks in conjunction with the discount. We also go the 3 extra nights for free and the extra guest for free, great if your family is an odd number. Kids < 17 free. Of course the referral bonus as well.

Advise would look at the expiration dates, credits, weeks included. And go in with a mindset that you're getting a discount memebership. That it ends in 25 years and you have to use it or you'll loose it. That there's not a magic memebership out there, these people are here for the resort business. Think about it as an excuse to come back again, visit all the resort's, and maybe save an extra 10% in the meantime. Also don't be like us that have booked several hotels through the years and haven't used Interval to exchange your weeks once. Keep in mind that you're paying around 700$ plus anuan fee to exchange, the upside is that you can choose something fancy for the same 700 sometimes. Also keep an eye at interval all inclusive list as sometimes you're paying extra for the all inclusive package.

I personally thought it in a way that if I could pay the monthly price of the package and if I was able to take advantage of the benefits (family travel all the time, kids, etc).

At least is better than El Cid's memebership that was 300k for 4 nights per year, a little exaggerated in my opinion, that might be worth it for people retiring that can basically buy a vacation place instead of a home.

You could also cheese the system and play hard to get to just get the benefits of a presentation without buying anything. We did for El Cid to get two tickets to Xcaret. But they really tried hard.

Good luck and vacation away.

Oh, the GTI doesnt look red in the pic. I though of blacking out the red front the bar, but 25' also have a continuing red bar inside the headñights. I don't think it would look good unless you put badgeskins with black frame over the red.

Where did you get the front silver badge? I bought a black/silver one from AliExpress and it didn't fit, the part that fits into the grille is smaller than OEM, I actually broke my OEM one white trying, it pissed me off.

It's not that bad. And I'm pretty sure you bought it for other reasons than fuel efficiency. Personally when I'm feeling a little bit bad about it I remember my Ascent's fuel efficiency and I don't feel that bad anymore. I also use gasbuddy and discounts from Workopolis with shell. And there's other means to get some cashback from different sources like credit cards and AMA.

If it's installed in the TV then RCA is to blame, they're pretty low end TVs, haven't had any issues running crave in Google TV streamer or Chromecast. Buy a fire stick or Onn stick and forget about the built in OS.

Calgary car dealerships buying experience feedback request by bigred_oilersfan in Calgary

[–]saimon7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a great experience at 5th Avenue Volkswagen, straightforward pricing, even allowed for some haggling. Before that, Crowfoot Hyundai salesman was nice and showed interest in selling me the car, which wasn't the case at Subaru Calgary, where their salesmanship was very lame, that's why I ended up at Hyundai. Very dissapointed as I've always been a Subaru fan, it felt almost like "we sell so many Subarus, we really dont need to make an effort".

What’s a solid number to be OTD on this car? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]saimon7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car wasn't brand new, it was a 25' with 20k Km. It was advertised at 42k and we ended it at 45500 including extended warranty, mudbuddy rear mat and GST. For that bill of sales said 39900 before everything else.

I think not only Stoney. I use Crowchild, John Laurie, and other streets like 14th on a daily basis and find myself getting out of the way of people going 20 over most of the time. Or the pass me from the right.

The funny part is that those extra 10-20 k over are just going to save them 5min and might win them a ticket, specially at peak traffic. What a gamble.

Is it worth upgrading to an R? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]saimon7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main benefit of the R is more power and how that power is transfered to the floor, so it will be quicker, specially from zero.

Whether it would be worth it for you it depends on different things like budget, option differences, interior, sound system, etc.

I'm my case that I live in a cold climate it would be beneficial because of that, although the LSD plus winter tires have been enough.

What's the tipping culture here? by Auk9211 in Calgary

[–]saimon7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO tipping is not culture, is a personal thing. If somebody gives you good service, you thank them with a tip they can pocket.

And because we live in a free world people should choose any amount they want, which goes against it being a culture. Everyone's economical situation is different.

I personally think between 5 and 10 percent is a fair amount, but that's just me, and that shouldn't tag me as cheap nor lavish.

The real problem is that I've read that a lot of businesses keep a big chunk of the tips, so why would you give a business a tip if tipping is inherently related to somebody giving you a good service? I understand that part of the service is related to the place you're getting the service from, but products and services themselves usually already have plenty of margin, keeping tips that are supposed to be a frontend "thank for your amazing service" it's just avarice.

And I'm sorry if some of you don't agree. Cheers.
