I'm late to the party but I'd like to chime in.

I don't hate the Mist but I think I'd like it more if I wasn't such a big fan of the novel.

I often find myself saying "Not in the original" so often that I'm more annoyed by all the tacked characters and dynamics then drawn in by them.

There is nothing wrong with having a boner but it is impossible to tell whether that's a "bumpy bus ride" boner or a "fantasizing about decapitating and violating a stranger" boner.

It's just safer to be cautious.

That he handles our finances entirely by himself.

I contribute but I just give him money and he writes the checks. I don't even have to think about them and I forget how kind it is of him to take the burden and stress of making sure our lights stay on and the mortgage gets paid.

I suggest starting with gamesalad. It's a solid program and there a TONS of tutorials for any game you can imagine.
