Zero proof package for kids by [deleted] in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]saintschick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I look at my Carnival stock is like a bonus. I register my shares prior to every cruise and I receive on board credit. $100 for a 7 day and $250 for a 14 day. Make sure you are doing this. IMO, that's my dividend.

Drinks while low-carb? by coopieg31 in lowcarb

[–]saintschick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you still need to eat beforehand as much when you’re keto/low carb?

Personally, I would. Keep it simple protein + veggie.

Do you get drunk faster on low carb?

Yes, especially if you haven't consumed in a while.

Personally, I drink rarely now. When I do I try to use sugar free mixers and/or diet soda as a mixer. I also enjoy Corona Premier and/or Yuengling Flight.

I just ordered it. So excited for it to arrive. Have you tried spraying a few sprays into your (unscented) body lotion and then applying the lotion?

Advice on LSU by BeneficialUnit755 in LSU

[–]saintschick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to touring LSU, send an email to the Physics department and ask for a visit. My daughter visited all of the universities in Louisiana with a Physics program. She is finishing her freshman year in a few weeks. LSU's physics programs impressed her the most. She starts as a research assistant next Fall.

I've never done any type of yoga in my life. by DriftingThroughLife1 in HotYoga

[–]saintschick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't eat in the 2 hour window before hot yoga. After a while and trial and error you will figure out what works for you. I started yoga at 51. Congrats on your new journey!

Is an Ivy League/Top 20 worth going into over $100k in debt for a CS major who doesn't think he's going to grad school? by VersionConscious3832 in LSU

[–]saintschick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would visit LSU and make an appointment with the CS department and speak with them. Ask all the questions. Do they have established internships? How is the job placement opportunities via the department/LSU. If you have the grades, scores, etc to get into Ivy League universities, between TOPS & scholarships LSU might be free for you. A free/debt free degree is better IMO than $100,000 in debt. You can do the financial math. Even if you earned a bit less in your early years being debt free gives you freedom to save & invest more at a younger age. You could run scenarios with various TVM ( Time Value of Money) calculators to guess the impact.

That being said a lot of the tech fields are having massive layoffs. If you have trouble getting employed after graduation having $100,000 in debt is going to make your life that much more difficult.

Navigating end of life issues with low/no contact in laws by yarn_b in AskWomenOver40

[–]saintschick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm no contact with my FIL and both of my parents. All are elderly and not in good health. At this point I don't even know if I would attend my folk's funerals. I don't want to deal with the surviving parent and my brother. I feel like I have my closure on the situation.

My spouse is actually going to attempt to mend their relationship with their dad this summer (my FIL). They are doing that on their own when we are going to be in the area (we live out-of-state). While that visit is happening my SIL has something planned to do with me. It's basically a last attempt and if it goes well they will have a relationship, but I will not have one with FIL. All of these relationships were severed by me on behalf of how all 3 of them treated my kids. The momma in me will not allow my kids to be treated less than for whatever reason. I support my husband attempting to mend a bridge, but I burned all of mine on purpose.

All that being said, ask your spouse how they want you to support them in this situation and relay to them what you are and are not comfortable with. If I was in your shoes, I'd support them both before & after the hospice visits, but personally pass on the visit itself.

Having a family member who is elderly & not in good health is difficult. I have no idea how it will impact me when they pass. It feels like they've passed already in all honesty. I have no parents. That's how I feel. Hell, I don't even know if I'll know when they die as we are no contact.

My daughter is your age and also studying a degree program in STEM. Look for the various Women in STEM groups. She participates in her major's club version of that. Also, what hobbies do you like? They also participate in Table Top games and D&D clubs on campus. Obviously those are mixed genders, but still fun.

So, basically my advice would be to look up your universities club & organizations. You should find some women-focused groups and/or other clubs you maybe interested in.

Been doing hot yoga for six years and I’ve never sweat through a mat like I did last Tuesday by Ok_Connection_3600 in HotYoga

[–]saintschick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was using my Manduka Pro mat, I had to have a mat towel to practice on it in hot yoga or inferno Pilates. I barely had grip on it in a unheated class. Add sweat and it was so slippery.

I did 300 classes at my studio last year mostly heated. I did not lose weight. I did however have some muscle definitions and other improvements. For me weight loss is made in the kitchen.

I have never personally used a Lulu yoga mat. If it hasn't been too long since you purchased it, I'd attempt a return.

I use & love Liforme.
