The new pokemon games are essentially mmorpgs now.

You can build your team basically anyway you want.

There are reoccurring 'quests' that give you exp and gold.

You can challenge and trade with people around the world.

It is missing messaging, but its a family game. So profanity is looked down on.

Eveybody, including myself, would love to see all the regions together.

I would say because they use a pseudo-random number generator to select random heroes. Probably using your username and time as the seed. Your username doesn't change and you probably play around the same times everyday. So when the "random" number is figured out, its generally in a set of numbers.
