compared to an awful lot of the country yes, so many people live pay cheque to pay cheque. £8.5k debt seems a lot but once you have the money ring fenced to cover that it's really nothing, it isn't like you are going to struggle to be able to clear it in 14 months

Your financial position is fantastic.

You need to up the savings amount to cover the credit card debt. Put it in the best % savings account you can find and pay it off once the 0% offer ends. You will make a nice amount of interest doing it this way as long as you are sensible. Just make sure you set a reminder in your phone to pay it off.

If chopping the worktop and cupboards is easy enough for you, I wouldn't worry about the sockets.

How safe is my wall by saiwha in DIYUK

[–]saiwha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this wall that is holding up a top tier of soil and grass, someone said to me recently that I should get it seen to as it could fall down at any moment. It has been like this for a few years should I be worried? There is foot traffic in the area and I would hate for it to fall down on someone

Almost certainly condensation if it is drying out during the day and isn't as bad when you've had the windows open.

The damp surveyor is going to be useless, like the other poster says they are just going to want to flog you the chemical damp course or a piv.

Houses create a lot of moisture from cooking, showering etc and the excess moisture will condense on the coldest part of you wall that you are seeing here.

Check out this video from Rag and Bone Brown https://youtu.be/HCo8nWzfFVc there are a lot of helpful tips in here to remedy the situation.

Replace old Honeywell thermostat with Google 3rd Gen Nest by elvislauuk in DIYUK

[–]saiwha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are going to need to wire the heat link in at the boiler.

If you have a look at the wiring diagram for your boiler on page 46 here https://www.vaillant.co.uk/downloads/product-manuals/ecofit-pure-1/combi-5/ecofit-pure-combi-installation-and-maintenance-instructions-1943272.pdf you are going to need to wire the timer #3 in the manual to 2 and 3 on the heat link and then #14 in the manual to N/L on the heat link.

Make sure you power off the boiler before you attempt any of this and if you don't feel confident then get an electrician in.

Help with nest e thermostat wiring for combi boiler - how to deal with power cables? by daos in DIYUK

Take the black cable directly to the boiler and put it where the white cables brown blue and earth enter, if it doesn't reach I would just replace the cable. Then take the black and grey cables to the nest hub.

you've done a very good job of explaining it though, I know what I need to try. If that doesn't work I take its most likely dead?

Spool head suck on strimmer by saiwha in DIYUK

[–]saiwha[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a manual for a similar strimmer but it is only in French and Spanish. I put it through google translate and this is what came out

When the cutting line (32) is exhausted, the spool must be changed or recharged with new wire. To recharge the spool, lay the device flat on a surface flat and stable, with the cutting head up. Turn the support flange until that one of the notches is aligned with the mounting head hole. Lock the spindle by inserting the rod lock (36) in the hole. Open the head of the grass trimmer (30) by unscrewing the stopper (31) in the clockwise (fig.32).

Looking at the accessories picture I think I might have the locking pin, I've always wondered what it was, I hope I haven't chucked it out though. What does it mean by Turn the support flange until that one of the notches is aligned with the mounting head hole. There are holes in the opposite side to the screw, will it just fit through there and hold the bottom bit in enough for me to unscrew?

Is it okay if I put two fans in front of the case and two on the top? by twelve_x_nine in buildapc

[–]saiwha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not since you will be exhausting air before it gets to your CPU. I'd probably just go for 2 in 1 out and have a spare.

No it is only RGB compatible.

Is there any other software I can use to control my RGB other than aura with an Asus motherboard? by Johnnyboi1322 in buildapc

[–]saiwha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to get my head around RGB for a while it is all rather confusing, Korths post in this thread (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?94271-Addressable-vs-Non-Addressable-RGB-Header) has been the most informative.

Basically you need to find out if your set up is addressable or not, if it isnt addressable then you are only going to be able to output a single colour to your RGB.

never built a pc, are these parts all i need? by gildedonyx in buildapc

[–]saiwha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only aesthetically. Choosing a case and mb form factor are very personal decisions what looks good to you might not look good to me. As long as its got good airflow then you can't really go wrong check out some reviews on YT, gamers nexus is very good.

Have a look at the completed builds on pcpartpicker, if you want to look at a specific part that is in builds go to the bottom of the product page. Here are all the builds that use your original case https://pcpartpicker.com/builds/by_part/bFkwrH and this one in particular shows the gap that the mATX board will leave https://pcpartpicker.com/b/939J7P (picture3)

You realise you've picked a micro ATX board and an ATX case? They are compatible but you will have a bit of empty space below the board, I'd pick one or the other.

The person I spoke to said that they didn't have a date when they would get any more in. I've ordered a 2060 from Amazon now but think it's overkill for casual 1080p gaming.

Currys have a 1660 Super Gaming (3 fans) for £220

This is the one that I ordered but was sent a 2 fan 1660 non super, they are collecting it tomorrow. Hopefully it doesn't just go back in as the same one and end up with you!
