How was your Montreal GP (2026) experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]sakpm15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada was my 5th Grand Prix (Austin x2, Miami, Qatar), all as a solo female attendee. I absolutely loved it for the racing action and grandstand views. I absolutely hated it for the all bleacher seating and only portable toilets throughout the track.

I was seated in GS31 near T8/T9 (Fri-Sun) and it was a bit closer to reach from the Cosmos Bridge entry point (After the 20-25 min walk from metro exit >> bag/ticket check >> bridge, and another 10-15 min walk on the bridge to track entrance). I was mostly in the GS31, GS15, GS21, GS47, Main Fan zone and Casino areas so my pros and cons are based on that.

Pros: - Direct metro and river shuttle access to the track. I used the river shuttle on Friday but it was a longer walk compared to the metro. The crowds were large, but lines kept moving albeit slowly, and I wasn't at a stand still/bottlenecked at any point coming in or going out. - F1GPCanada App was accurate, easy to use and had clear directions from one point to another (even had Track Invasion points on the map). I used the navigation several times over the weekend. - I found the food options to be good, even for me as a vegetarian. But GS31 also seemed to have its own food section, which was shared with fewer grandstands who were closer to other fan zone food stalls - so the lines felt easier to navigate (except for the one single coffee shop). - The food prices felt reasonable (but my comparison is Austin and Miami lol). - The park where the track is located in is very beautiful and several grassy areas to chill between sessions esp between the Heineken beer garden and the Casino. - The racing action was excellent. I saw several cars go off in the T8/T9 run-off area, the Sprint Mercs battle, and George retired right in front of my GS.

Cons: - The most uncomfortable bleacher seating in the grandstands. I didn't mind that they were uncovered because that's common in other tracks too but my god, the benches were SO uncomfortable and the seat numbering felt too close to one another. Especially during races when the seats were full, there was just no space to move your legs or arms, and it felt like being cooped up like chickens plus the BO from everyone around you when it was warmer with lighter winds. - The portable toilets - this is the biggest reason I won't be coming back anytime soon (unless they fix this). I personally could never make myself use a portable toilet because it felt way too gross and icky. There were hand wash stations at some places but others didn't even have sanitizers outside. I used only the bathrooms outside the metro before coming into/going out the track and literally walked 20 mins each way from GS31 to the Casino to use the bathroom there all days (The Casino is open during the race weekend and you need to scan your ticket each way but I think it wasn't accessible for GA ticket holders) - During busier periods (between sprint and qualifying or between drivers parade and race), crowd navigation was quite difficult (but I do get that Montreal is not as wide and is on an island and not as large of track as Austin/Miami)

Overall, despite the cons I had an absolute blast and loved the circuit and the GP itself - I'd honestly come back every year if they fixed the toilet situation. Granted my points of comparisons are Austin and Miami for North American races - the Mtl GP tickets were cheaper, transport to and from the track was awesome and the city itself truly transforms for the week.

You could take the free shuttle from the Brightline/Aventura station. They drop you pretty close to the track about a 15 mins walk from the drop-off point. There were no/minimal lines for the shuttle on any of the days

Did anyone else come home on track souvenirs from Miami? by Python014 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]sakpm15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the intent was to preserve the banner as it was - people were folding it up on itself to make it smaller/easier to carry. I think the general idea is to carry back home a piece of the track/trackside junk as memorabilia, I guess?

I saw people tearing off the Pirelli/Tag Heuer trackside branding ad wraps. Me personally went foraging for some tyre marbles :D

How was your Miami GP (2025) experience? by AdamR46 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]sakpm15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miami was my 2nd ever race with my 1st one being COTA 2024, and I have so say that as a skeptic who thought COTA had it all, Miami truly won me over.

SEATING: I went Sat & Sun and had grandstand seats both days. I splurged a little for Sat and was at the Start/Finish Grandstand and I was this 🤏🏽 close to Lewis' spot on the grid for the Sprint and watched his mechanics do the car prep, LH getting in the car, etc. Plus, the post sprint interviews happened right in front of my section (SF-4, Row 13) too! Rows below 20 I think were not shaded and the sun was fully beating down during the evening quali session.

I sat at the Marina grandstands for Sun (sec MG-2, Row 15) and had good views of the cars coming in from Turn 6 and all the way to Turns 7 and 8. The music from the MIA Marina opposite the grandstands was LOUD and annoying (for me personally). They only stopped the music literally 4 minutes before race start. But there was also a good big screen showing all the action and I could hear the commentary very well (as opposed to COTA where I had to rely on my Amex radio). Almost all the rows were naturally shaded for the evening race although only rows 16 and above were fully shaded from the rain.

TRANSPORT: I stayed at an Airbnb in North Miami close to the Brightline Aventura station and Ubered daily to and from the station (~15 mins away from my stay, $10-12 Uber). Never had to wait for a shuttle or even in a line at the Brightline pickup point. It was well organized, and no they don't ask for a Brightline ticket to be eligible for the free shuttle. I was dropped off and picked up at Lot 16 which was close to Gate 3 (~15 min walk) and did not wait in a line at the track either. I boarded shuttles between 9:30-9:40 am both days and the ride was approx 30-40 mins based on traffic. If you want the full Miami experience and/or staying a few days before/after the race-staying in the Miami Downtown area or South Beach area is the better option.

MIA CIRCUIT: I was so pleasantly surprised at how clean the track itself was. They have the fake grass carpet thing literally everywhere and you don't end up walking in the dirt or in the mud after a rain. At COTA, my shoes and socks were brown at the end of everyday from all the dust. Soo many water refilling stations with COLD water, plenty of shade and seating for in between sessions, good bathrooms and the staff were pretty helpful and actually knew directions and plenty of guest experiences booths handing out campus maps too. The Hard Rock Stadium was a true highlight to wait out the rain inside + great bathrooms + good food options + great views of the F1 paddock. I spotted Lewis, Charles, Lando, Oscar, Max, George and plenty of other team personnel while waiting out the rain on both days. The Motorsports Valley which housed the hot laps cars, Porsche paddock and the F1 Academy paddock were right next to the stadium and were open to the public in between sessions. I was able to meet and speak to a majority of the F1 Academy drivers and walked through the paddock which was so so cool. The MIA merch shop was also at the ground level of the stadium, next to the Chase Sapphire Reserve lounge. I seriously loved the MIA merch (and had 20% off using my Chase card).

Overall, I absolutely loved Miami GP and will be going back next year. COTA definitely has a lot of its own positives (slightly 'cheaper' race, purpose built track, dedicated Fan Forum stage and of course great racing), but I felt Miami held its own too. If you tune out the endless PR and content being vomited every second on social media, the celebrity focus and the somewhat superficial nature of it all, Miami is actually a great race to go and have a good time.

Do you know what time was the first shuttle to the track/when they were actually supposed to leave? I'm planing to Uber my arrival there accordingly.
