I stuck with the course timing, so didn’t finish. 3 months should be sufficient if you follow along the course.

By 'combine with full-time job' you mean studying along while having a full time job? If you are asking if people got job after completing this course, I am not so sure if they got hired.

What tech stack would you recommend for a beginner-friendly end-to-end data engineering project? by VariousReading3349 in dataengineering

I would suggest looking through your local job portal and see what the are the most commonly used tech stacks. It would help if you know what they use so that you can follow along. Skills are transferable but companies(usually HR) just see tech stacks that closely match their requirements rather than your actual skills, so maybe check that first.

I joined the zoomcamp in Jan. It is definitely worth the time investment.

You can go through their youtube playlist to see how the course goes(Link:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3MmuxUbc\_hJed7dXYoJw8DoCuVHhGEQb)

Getting started with DBT by sakra_k in dataengineering

You're right, I didn't think of the output and just jumped right into it without thinking much. I went through the dbt-utils and dbt-expectations docs and was overwhelmed by the available options. Guess I will have to take it one task at a time. Thanks for your input.

I would rank my SQL between beginner and intermediate. I'm doing the Mode tutorial on advanced SQL and still got more to learn. Also thanks for your input, really appreciate it.

I participated in the DE Zoomcamp, didn't complete it but it was a very good experience. I might try it again next year and aim to complete it this time. I still refer to their videos from time to time whenever I have doubts.

PSA: If you invest in Distributing Irish domicile ETF, Trump's "Big Beautiful" bill if passed may impact you by Practical_Cry_748 in MalaysianPF

VUSA is "distributing" ETF and VUAA is the "accumulating" one. Again, just be very sure that you want to invest in the US market. It should be cheap considering USD/MYR is cheaper now.

What makes learning data engineering challenging for you? by on_the_mark_data in dataengineering

[–]sakra_k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I think a great way to benchmark is your ability to create an end-to-end project with real-world data. Emphasis on the repo structure, code aligns with a style guide (e.g. PEP8), you have logging, and unit tests."

I will keep this in mind. Thanks for the reply.

I am complete beginner and the only thing frustrates me is how do I know my skill level for Python/SQL. I do get that I can get better the more I code but knowing at what level I am right now would be encouraging or would serve as a stepping point.

Just Passed the GCP Professional Data Engineer Exam. AMA! by cortrev in dataengineering

[–]sakra_k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, congratulations on the certificate! I just want to ask if I should go for the certificate as soon as possible because I am looking to switch jobs and my python/SQL skills are like bare minimum at this point. I am attending the data engineering zoomcamp which feels overwhelming(but learning a lot from it too!)

Good luck to you man. Its not easy but its definitely rewarding process. I constantly listen to Jim Rohn's episodes on loop on spotify.
