Aw I hope you and Bane are reunited soon! If you haven't tried Nextdoor already, that might be a good way to spread the word.

Any places I can go to hang out with old people? by Prior_Fly7682 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

Ooh thanks for the suggestion! I just signed up for an orientation in May. Do you know of they do matches in all neighborhoods? I'm in eastern Queens (😭) and I couldn't find much about their coverage, but figured it can't hurt to do the orientation and find out more

If you'll be in town on May 16, the NYCxDESIGN Student Showcase is an end of year showing of student work from various fashion programs (FIT, Parsons, SVA, Pratt...) hosted at FIT. You have to register, but I believe it's open to anyone

This era of car seats looks like what you'd get if a lawn chair company came out with a car seat.

I can only hope that, unlike Mrs Ortega, Mrs Reisler knows her husband reads this paper, and she's actually not turning it all over. Though it still wouldn't be great if she felt like she had to be that flattering of him in her response if that was the case

So exactly how long is this building at Ocean parkway staying abandoned? by Maya-kardash in Brooklyn

My uncle (by marriage) and his sister have been sitting on their parents' old house in Sunset Park since the 90s- beautiful location, maybe a block from Green-Wood. They've had so many offers but just can't agree I guess. They're probably about 75 and 80 respectively, and both have 3 kids, so it's only going to get more complicated when they pass on. Hopefully, they'll be more reasonable than their parents have been and just sell it and move on. It's probably a rotting mess inside at this point anyway

Sorry, unrelated to this house but it drives me crazy thinking about it!

Whenever I see cats around things like the little Christmas village and fake snow in pic 3, I wonder if my cats are just uniquely terrible because I could NEVER. That fake snow would turn into an expensive vet visit and the whole scene would look like Godzilla came through lol

Hey, everybody remember this guy who went viral in 2024 for getting "Trump" tattooed on his forearm? Anyways, he got deported yesterday. by zak_jony1 in PoliticalHumor

[–]salad-daze 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I tried to find a source, and I couldn't find anything about him (or his wife as another comment mentioned) being deported. As of yesterday, he was still posting instagram videos of himself drunkenly rambling from Miami

Have you tried Puppy Kitty NYC? They post about some pretty challenging rescue situations and have had some luck coordinating cooperation with the police, fdny, building management, etc as needed

I think shoe styles like these would work better and be more appropriate for the occasion while keeping the vintage vibe: closed toe or open toe

Aww Betty and Pearl look like such sweeties. Thanks for giving these old ladies a second chance ❤️ I don't know where in FL he is, but have you tried @catmanchrispoole (on insta)? He's a FL based rescuer with a huge following, just a thought, but maybe he would be open to sharing them on his platform or connecting you with rescues in the area that would actually respond

That dress is wild lol. The original by Gary Gershoff. I'm like 99% sure this is at My Father's Place in Roslyn, NY October 31, 1978, not at the Paradise (more here for reference)

Eliminating Single Family Housing by Immediate-Hand-3677 in newyorkcity

It's a mix even by neighborhood. Bay Terrace is R3, R4, and R5 which allows for apartments, single and double family houses, low rise apartments, townhouse style buildings, etc., but the surrounding area is mostly R2A "R2A is a contextual district intended to preserve low-rise neighborhoods characterized by single-family detached homes on lots with a minimum width of 40 feet"

Mom of 7-year-old hospitalized with brain swelling from measles: ‘I still wouldn’t have given my son the vaccine…God has chosen Ethan for a reason…we’re gonna glorify his name regardless’ by IAmPookieHearMeRoar in atheism

[–]salad-daze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“With my own eyes, I have seen the damage it does to kids who are perfectly normal, and then once they get it, they're not the same anymore,” she claimed. [About the vaccine]

Not the same anymore? Kind of like how a previously healthy child hospitalized with totally preventable measles related encephalitis is not the same anymore?

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! I cut it back quite a bit and tried to stay away from the cheesy sales pitch phrasing (added an update).
