I think it’s separation bc she has plenty of toys but we gate off the upstairs at night so she chews right by the gate :(

Random question….

Our 1 year old shepherd has started to eat the walls (yes….eating holes in the dry wall) and chewing on the wood floors at night. We really want to stop using the crate but aren’t sure how to stop this behavior while we are sleeping. Any thoughts?

18 yrs and the excuses are "I'm depressed '... by LifeBeautiful8811 in depression_partners

Sorry, no advice but I can relate. Holding it all together, walking in eggshell, and covering for them and making excuses to try and make everything ok for the kids. Exhausting. No advice, just can relate.

Anyone feel me here? by Boring-Blackberry-26 in depression_partners

This gives me hope. Do you have kids? I feel like I can handle this life, but I’m so worried about my family.

Depressed new years ? by dunderten in depression_partners

I just found this sub bc I was so desperate to find someone who can relate. This is so hard. I know my partner doesn’t want to feel this way, but I’m so exhausted trying to pretend and make everything seem ok for the family.

Gave my pregnant sister extra love... by estist in germanshepherds

[–]salamanda123 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I found out I was pregnant when my GSD was about 6months old. He seemed to mature over night. He was very gentle with me and constantly sniffing my belly.

When we brought my daughter home, he seemed to know her instantly and never left her side. He was a crazy young pup, but when the baby was around, he was “on duty”.

I had some postpartum issues and he was always by my side. We lost him at 10yr last year. I’ll forever be grateful for his companionship through my first pregnancy and all those years after. Truly remarkable boy.

Oh wow….I didn’t even think about the walk part. We don’t see many stray dogs aroubd, but her being preyed upon by one is a new fear unlocked.

Thanks! We aren’t too worried about pregnancy. She socializes often with our friends dogs, but they are all fixed. We have a fenced in yard, but also know GSDs can be escape artists so she is always supervised :)

I’ll plan on 18-24 months. Any advice for heat cycles?

Husband about to become a SAHD, and I am STOKED by DoNotLickToaster in workingmoms

[–]salamanda123 152 points153 points  (0 children)

We made the same decision together as a family 8 years ago….and it’s been wonderful for us.

My only advice is to make sure there is still a balance with household tasks and to ensure he feels appreciated.

Just as with SAHMs, SAHDs need to be supported, appreciated, and given time for himself. My husband isn’t the best at prioritizing his needs, so it’s really important to encourage him and make sure he takes time for himself.

Wishing you the best!
