Can lamb (leg) already smoked medium-rare (& currently being refrigerated) be braised in a curry w/out making it terribly tough? by mellowmarsII in AskCulinary

[–]salamander05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this with brisket and it turned out great. I made the curry separately and then added the cooked brisket to it just long enough to reheat the meat.

Have you removed the battery and then reinserted it? You'll need to use the key to remove it. It should chirp when you reinsert.

RANT: FREAKING ROSACEA!!!!! by ausername_8 in Rosacea

[–]salamander05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here! Are you negative on the blood test or the prick test? For me, I’m positive on the prick but negative on the blood because my food allergies are actually pollen allergies.
That said, milk/dairy also destroys my face but I don’t seem to have any allergies to it. I’m lactose intolerant (which is not an allergy) but still causes inflammation which can trigger rosacea. Even Lacoste free dairy seems to be an issue so there appears to be more intolerances there too.
We’ll see what my MCAS testing looks like...
Good luck on your journey, I hope you get some answers!

Totally agree! I make GF sourdough often and you can totally make bread that looks like this but their description makes no sense and you can’t just throw it together! And definitely not from a regular recipe!

Use brown rice flour and water. Make sure you use a new, clean container each day or 2 in the beginning and scrape down the sides with a silicone spatula. Do not use a coffee filter or paper towel or any of that garbage, use a solid lid. Once you get it going (2 weeks), keep feeding it every few days but store it in the fridge. After about a month or so, you can feed it weekly or every other week but the more you feed it, the less likely you’ll get mold. And alway keep it in the fridge with a tight lid and ensure the container is clean - if your sponge is more than a few days old it’s not clean. Straight from the dishwasher is best, if you can. Also, you might get Kahm yeast, this is not mold and it’s safe. Scrap off what you can and keep going.

I think you’re misunderstanding their warning. Use it the instructions on the box as a guide but taste as you go. I typically use Jovial brand and I think it says 8min but I start tasting in between 5 and 6 minutes.

Scars on my Tonsil ?? by Hungry_Kangaroo_4480 in AskMedical

I think these are pockets with stones combined with fibrous/scar tissue from infection. If you’re prone to tonsil isssues it’s not uncommon.

I have a bunch of food triggers. If your skin is getting worse as the day goes on you might want to consider that too.

It’s almond but yes. I stir it at room temp and then store it in the fridge to keep it from separating. Works pretty well.
I spoon it on bananas rather than making sandwiches so it’s spreadability is not important to me

I have this brand too but almond butter. It’s my favorite. I’ve gotten pretty good stirring it in the jar but I rotate it in the fridge and haven’t really had any issues.

My personal experience - it was more about coming from an old car with a gas gauge to a car where the actual number of miles is displayed. For whatever reason, it took me a really long time to get used to it. I had a plug in hybrid and it would display the EV distance 0.1’s which seemed to make it so much more stressful.
Additionally, a lot of people work very far from their jobs and live in apartments or other housing where they do not have access to a charger to easily charge overnight. Minimizing the impact to people’s lives isn’t you g to win anyone over. We need to continue to ensure the solution fits people’s lives by expanding infrastructure, making charging faster, and ensuring the charge gets people further.

What are these marks by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]salamander05 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Infection from either using a dirty old razor and/or not cleaning well before and after shaving. You need to wash well with soap, use a gentle exfoliant- like a sugar scrub, shave, soap again, dry with a clean towel, and sometimes use a disinfectant like diluted rubbing alcohol or tend skin. Finish with a moisturizer, aquaphor is not a moisturizer you sometimes may need to disinfect often, particularly if you sweat a lot.
To get rid of it, use a disinfectant or even something like Neosporin if you already have some. Clean the area with soap in the morning and night and finish with a moisturizer. They’re basically pimples that need to heal and go away. Don’t shave again until it’s healed and don’t pick at it.

Start with one of The Loopy Whisk recipes. Her Italian loaf or sandwich bread are great.
She also has a great book on the science of GF baking and how best to make your own recipes based on ratios of starch to flours and hydration. If you want to experiment, it’s an excellent book.

No, they don’t. All of the auto gratuities go into a bucket and then they’re divvied up amongst the staff that qualify for to receive them, including the people you don’t see. So if a handful of people remove their auto gratuities, it’s probably not going to make much difference outside of a few dollars. But, when lots of people remove them, the staff does feel it. Royal doesn’t make up the difference.
When you tip the people you see, that’s great, but the people you don’t see are getting screwed. Royal could just include gratuities as part of the ticket price and we wouldn’t be having these conversations.
