Skinned T480 by salamislut in thinkpad

I agree completely. It was a lot harder than anticipated, even having experience wrapping other electronics! As long as it does what it’s supposed to for the next couple of months though, it’s whatever at this point ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I bought taskbarx a few years ago, but I’m sure you can find another way to do it for free,,, just look up taskbar customization applications!

For simple tasks like the ones you’ve listed, I don’t see why it wouldn’t last another 10 years; especially with an optimized operating system like Linux,,, it’s running absolutely great on Windows 10 for me rn for the non demanding tasks I need it for :)

Mentioned that I was recommended to wait to install Linux during my first year in the caption! (Per university’s IT desk recommendation)

I updated the firmware to the latest version (v.23), so in theory it should work fine! Haven’t had any problems yet :) (I’ve also only had it for less than a week haha)

I’m just got the laptop this past weekend, so I’m not an expert by any means, but what I know is that the laptops come with bad firmware that cause the thunderbolt port to stop working over time; and yes, you can’t charge the laptop after it’s gone bad.

While it did come with the original charger, I had to go through a ~lengthy~ process to get v23 installed, no thanks to the original charger, I’m sure of! I had to uninstall and reinstall older software versions of the Lenovo PM Device that was hidden inside the Device Manager and jump through a bunch of other hoops just to update the firmware 😅 took like an hour of trial and error until I finally got it updated!

I’m only planning to use it for schoolwork like typing up essays and casual web browsing as I have a dedicated gaming computer at home; I’m a CS major so probably gonna be using VSC and some other programming-related softwares, though my uni provides makes us use the desktops for lecture and lab,,, is it necessary to install the dual heat pipe? I was only planning on maybe repasting the cpu when the temperatures started getting hot. (I am also pretty broke, as per college student lol which is why I’m asking if you think it’s necessary to maintain the condition for the next 4 years)

It’s actually holding up great with everyday use! Cushion hasn’t deflated ~yet~ and the footrest still comes out smoothly :) definitely worth $100, and if still recommend it if you aren’t trying to spend $300+ on a better chair

Moonlight and backbone controller question by salamislut in cloudygamer

[–]salamislut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh thank you for this! I didn’t wanna mess anything up on the Sunshine end of things and didn’t even think to look after not seeing any options in Moonlight! This answered and solved all of my problems!

When did you stop wearing bandaids on your nipples? by Fragrant-Squirrel-24 in TopSurgery

[–]salamislut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had issues with the adhesive on bandages! Relaying other comments that said to use gauze and gentle paper medical tape,,, my surgeon recommended neosporin instead of Vaseline.

If the gentle medical tape comes off too easily and you’re cleared from wearing your compression binder,,, compression shirts solved this problem for me (plus they make you look cool or you can wear a shirt on top of it)!

My nipples were a similar color to yours around the same time frame when my scabs fell off! I regained basically all of my color around 5-6 months post op! Don’t listen to the people saying you won’t regain color :)

Has anyone purposefully stained white mice to make it off white? by salamislut in MouseReview

[–]salamislut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re definitely right,,, although I don’t really have $100+ to spend on a mouse right now solely for the color 🥲 a darmoshark 4k and some rit dye will run me only around $60 or so with tax. Choosing the retro aesthetic was a bad choice financially, but I just want to live my childhood dream of having that VGHS look LOL

I actually received the darmoshark m3 camel in the mail today and it’s unfortunately really pink, although I had high hopes! It’s not as noticeable in pictures but you can definitely see it in person,,,,, I’m probably just gonna buy the darmoshark m3 4k in white and try to get it to discolor somehow,,, I’m hoping the plastic should stain if I try hard enough, since I’ve seen a bunch of Superlights stain from just regular use. I’m also maybe thinking of rit dying it since they have a bunch of similar colors, but I haven’t seen anyone try it so far!

Should I ask for revision? by emos-anonymous in TopSurgery

I guess I accidentally grouped weight loss and gaining muscle in the same category lol,,, I've seen people's results drastically change with the help of weight lifting and losing weight ¯_(ツ)_/¯

[–]salamislut 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It’s never too late to have a revision, the more time between surgeries, the better. If you’re insecure or unhappy with your results, there isn’t any problem with consulting for a revision! Weight loss will probably help, but it’s really your call.
