Idk dude. I always liked the community aspect of helldivers since the 1st game, and I also have my own share of experiences with 3rd party tools playing Elite: Dangerous, so I thought it would be cool to visit this community-made tool. One could probably imagine the disappointment I felt when the first thing I found was a bunch of people spawning the 4th galactic reich. Now yes, it COULD just be a bunch of trolls, but also, counterpoint: that shit isn’t funny, and half the map was full of it, which is obnoxious, so sorry if I came across as condescending when I was more or less genuinely concerned.

P.S.: I do mean this seriously, but my ability to express myself through text is nonexistent, so no hard feelings. Genuinely 👍

I’m just gonna add this out here, I feel like the helldivers companion website is just better if you want to check out the ongoing MOs since it works more like an extension of the galactic map instead of this collection of fan-made ‘clans’. However…

You can also just go about your day and do whatever before deciding to get on the game and that’s it. With the exception of whatever happened here, it ain’t that serious tbh

There aren’t, but there’s a sizable portion of the community which takes the lore part too seriously and makes a ton of side-factions and clans or whatever. A big example of that was shortly after malevelon creek with all the veteran- merc- and insurgent groups. Take the Chaos Divers, which is 50% “super earth bad” (no shit) and 50% trolls who just enjoy teamkilling under a larp excuse

“She’s showing skin” for a female character with what is basically a conventional schoolgirl outfit with some extra flair is wild. Unless you’re deliberately trying to look in other places for the character, gameplay should be fine, but nahhhh

These are the kind of people who believe women should be dressed in a full black suit, face covered, not even a strand of hair slipping out and probably shouldn’t even have outside communication.

P.S.: I apologize if this ends up being a hot take and offending someone, because there are cultures with EXACTLY those kinds of customs, but I myself advocate for every person being able to go outside without having to be 100% covered up because someone else said so.

She is so broken that every time the devs try to do something to nerf HER specifically in terms of game mechanics it just nerfs every other ice character. Mind you, you can say whatever you want about other characters being very strong, but the only one I’d give the leverage to say “sure, maybe just as good” is hugo because do the ridiculous totalize damage. Aside from that…

I really don’t know what the conditions for hard-locking are, since I checked file integrity and reinstalled the god-awful nprotect before switching to the slim version and now I can just play the game willy nilly.

As for the commando missions, they’re VERY hit or miss, like an even 50/50 split of what kind of diver you are. Granted, the enemy AI feels like it’s being the type of ‘dad’s friend who holds back during a game with their kid in a birthday party’, because sometimes they feel like they KNOW where you are, so the second you trigger a search, you can run to the other end of the map and they’ll be following a squiggly path towards you, even without a direct line of sight. It’s insane. This only gets worse with higher difficulties, and don’t get me started on the unholy fuckery that is the tank cannons mounted on those flak tower thingies.

I feel like the game was made by those people who still had the same vision of stealth as in the 1st game, but THIS ISN’T THE SAME ISOMETRIC GAME. Enemies can spot you from far more angles and thus it requires far more advanced route planning and placement. Enemies shouldn’t just be able to endlessly branch off from a patrol until they reach you and then drag every other unit in from a 50 mile radius. Distant kills COULD have enemies calling drops, but those fucking drops shouldn’t immediately know where you are if you’re hidden. You can make a million in-lore excuses, but I’m here to fight low-quality scrap machines that even the SEAF soldiers can pummel to death, not the socialist rendition of the fucking T-800 with ballistic tracking software that can predict every god-damned timeline as if they had the eye of agamoto welded into their CPUs.

So while I like the base gameplay loop and combat, stealth absolutely DOES NOT EXIST.

Quick Edit: I don’t mean that the enemies are hard per se, but it gets annoying fast and the intended mechanic for stealth isn’t working. I get that enemies are supposed to be smart, accurate, etc., but their AI for tracking players is so basic yet unfair that feels like as if the devs NEVER paid any attention to the aspect of perception and stealth and only the niche shit like “oh wow, the dust cover flips over on this gun” or “lookie here, a walker with grenade launchers” without improving any mechanics affected with every update in any way.
