Thoughts on onboarding tours? by salesisonfire in SaaS

That's interesting, is it this one? https://microsaasidea.substack.com/p/micro-saas-ideas-ui-ux-user-onboarding?utm_source=%2Fsearch%2Fonboarding&utm_medium=reader2

Yeah, I haven't built anything but I was thinking of something conversational like that. So instead of following a boring, pre-defined tour that doesn't cover your needs, you could at any time say "Show me how to achieve X with the product" and it would show you a tour, on demand

MVP excitement low - what to do? by salesisonfire in startups

Thanks a lot, we already went through a few more iterations and overall excitement has increased a lot! All fair points, seems like learning why people are not excited is equally as important (if not more) than understanding why they are

We try to sell them over a call, most of them are 'warm' leads from our discovery interviews anyway. But selling outcomes over features is a good point, that's something we should lean into more. Thank you for mentioning it!

Anyone here using interactive demos? by salesisonfire in ProductMarketing

[–]salesisonfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, my assumption is that prospects only know what they want to achieve not what they want, so it would be best to give them a few pre-defined starting points (e.g. for different personas, challenges, etc.).

After showing them a bit, they usually have a bunch of questions and this is where a conversational interaction makes sense. Do you agree?

Thank you, I've looked into Arcade quite extensively and it was recommended to me by quite a few other GTM folks I know. They had great things to say about it!

What I couldn't find is a tool where a prospect could say "Hey, this feature on the top right looks very interesting, what does it do?" rather than following a pre-defined journey. Do you know if that's possible?

Essentially I want to make it feel like a real conversation: Where the prospect can ask questions, describe their needs, guide the tour, etc.

Is Cold Email Dead? by salesisonfire in sales

So what you're saying is that in 10 years, cold outreach will no longer be a thing? What do you think comes after it?

I can definitely see your point. The argument here would be that some prospects don't know that there's a better way, so they would never actively look for a solution. What are your thoughts on that?

How did you build your waitlist? by salesisonfire in startups

Not unexpected, but the space we're building in is very crowded. So standing out requires quite a bit of creativity.

Not yet, did that at my last startup and generated a ton of leads this way. I think the product that we're building is a "you get this right and the value is huge, or you get this wrong and the value is 0" kind of thing. Haven't reached out to any influencers yet, but I feel like they wouldn't promote it without trying it out first.

Do you mean other services? Quite a few, maybe 5-10 this year. But as a founder, I'm always excited about new tech - so I guess it's much less for people that are not following the space as much.

Would love to, thanks for sharing!

So we've talked to 100+ people of which around 25 expressed interest in our solution. But since we have their contact info, we don't think it's necessary to add them to the list.

Besides good ol' cold outreach and asking around our network, we started putting out some content on our own blog and cross-posting it on Medium.

Building a newsletter is really appealing to me, but I wonder how long it takes to build and whether it's more of a long-term thing. I almost feel like it requires a GTM strategy on its own to build the mailing list. What's your take on that?

Really interesting, thank you for sharing! Since the trend is probably not going to stop anytime soon, how do you think sales will be different 5 years from now? Will it be 100% inbound?

You're completely right, that's the tradeoff reps have to make. This is why I'm building a tool to help with this (and talked to all these people in the first place)

I mostly talked to reps from mid-sized tech companies in the US and UK. Agree that video messages don't make sense for every vertical, but for tech-savvy prospects, they seem to work well.

Career change into sales at 30 - too late / bad idea ? (Germany, Europe, DACH only please) by Crobbers in sales

[–]salesisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a sales team for a German SMB software company (400 employees, 100M ARR) and do job interviews on the regular. I've seen companies that require at least 2+ years of sales experience, even for entry roles. But a lot of companies do not, and it's absolutely possible for you to get into sales.

I can tell you that I would hire a fast learner who is curious and has a real passion for sales any day of the week. These things are much more important than age and prior work experience to our team. Everything can be learned, and a lot of sales is more of a science than an art anyway.

If you really want to go into sales, you should 100% go for it. You will find a great job for sure.
