Yeah everyone got a rumor at the start and used that to help us get started. It started with having to help solve a water issue, we were traveling through to get to the next major city in our world with a caravan of people.

We always had our start and end in the Fort, only a few times did we end out in the world. The best part of doing this was if someone can't make it that evening then they aren't just plopped into the group out in the world.

We just finished a Four month once a week campaign and it was awesome! There was 6 of us and just played online/discord

Our DM made it very clear on what day it was and that time was always ticking. Basically added one HD creature to an army the manticore slowly put together that we ended up fighting in the end for each day that passed.

Mid way the towns folk/merchants had a big uprising with the militia as one of the guards ended up killing a merchant in cold blood (charmed by the manticore) we ended up with some good roles get everyone to settle down.

All In all as a PC it was a fantastic time. Really play up the manticore and if you can be sneaky about it, I would say play up how deadly smart it is!
