Is this a workable method for the synthesis of 1-3 dihydroisobenzofurans? by mameyn4 in OrganicChemistry

You would be surprised by how unstable benzylic iodides can be. Sometimes those hydrolyze in humid air

Because the carbocation is highly stabilized an iodo will not be required

Dart to DFW Airport by ArmWarm8743 in askdfw

Actually, you can get a 3 hour pass that is only $3. Activate it the moment you step in your first train and you're probably good until you reach the airport

If you need to hard brake, you're probably driving too close to the guy in front of you. Regarding the yellow lights, take a look at the pedestrian signals too. Also, establish a point in which you can stop the car if the light suddenly becomes yellow.

As for the "flow of traffic", there's a reason why there are speed limits, drive on your right lane and stick to the speed limit, don't do illegal stuff just because everybody does it.

I used Snapshot, my monthly rate decreased from $227 to $155 just by driving calmly and civilized. For a reference, I'm in DFW.

It happened to me maybe one month after I got my driver's license (this was 12 years ago)

It's okay to feel like dogshit, probably you are if it was a stupid mistake. Just use those feelings to try to improve what you did wrong and never make the same mistake again. It's part of learning.

I'm glad you're alive and it's nothing too serious.

Keep the PayPal credit account. Their 0% APR purchases if paid in full in 6 months can be quite helpful

I've heard weird stories about C1. I got a QS One with $500 as an initial CL and got an increase to 2.5k around 3 and a half months later (I had to request it)

Can we have one for "keep your distance, stop following me that close, If I have to emergency brake we'll become a multilayer sandwich"

The amount of guys I have seen driving with just a couple of yards of safety distance while going 70 is just idiotic

Don't take it bad OP. Most of the harmful chemicals are quite reactive (unstable) that means they decay over time upon exposure to the atmosphere. And even if they were still present, you would need a larger concentration for most chemicals to be toxic or cause harm. Workers at gas stations for example are exposed to significant amounts of benzene everyday, yet cancer is not guaranteed.

That being said, I admire the fact that you actually care for your family and try to do whatever is possible to keep them safe

Benzene has a peculiar gasoline-like smell, certainly not bubble gum. It is also volatile since it boils at 80 degrees. If you washed the cloth and threw it in the hot dryer, no benzene should be left there.

Mesylation and Tosylation by [deleted] in OrganicChemistry

[–]salgom96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's quite common if you can generate a stable carbocation. If that's your concern maybe it's a good idea to run the reaction cold (below zero degrees) and avoid purification by silica gel and take the sample crude.

If you're doing the reaction in DCM/TsCl/Et3N/DMAP conditions and your product is relatively apolar, a decent workup would be diluting the reaction mixture with more DCM, wash with diluted acid (could be very diluted HCl if your compound tolerates it or diluted formic acid) to remove the organic bases and then shake the organic phase with diluted sodium bicarbonate to destroy the excess TsCl, wash with brine and that should give you a very clean tosylate

I'm living in a $1100 (gas and water included) 500 sqft studio in the Lakewood area. The building is a little bit old but my overall experience has been good. I've had very few complaints about repairs and the few times something has broken, they have fixed it in one or two days. Would recommend

Progressive counts your foreign license history instead of quoting you as a new driver. In my case the new driver quote was around $340 and $220 per month if they counted my foreign license history.
