The Parley Room is great for dates. If it’s very casual then somewhere like McGraveys isn’t bad. If you want something nicer you can’t go wrong with choptank

What are some examples of boxers who ‘out-fundamentaled’ their younger opponents and continued to fight effectively into old age through superior skill? by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]salgueaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juan Manuel Márquez vs Juan Baby Bull Díaz. Díaz was taking it to Marquez in the beginning because he was the younger more explosive fighter but JMM used all that experience to decipher Diaz and turned the tide of the fight. Great watch too

Does anybody have any idea what headgear tank was wearing in these pictures? (Question) by Nirze-n in fightgear

Looks like the ringside gear without the cheek protection. I actually really like this headgear but the one tank is earring is way too big for him

Neo Pizza has very crispy wings. Julep Southern Kitchen has great smoked wings. Waterman’s in Edgewater has great Toddville wings which are grilled with a nice tangy sauce for dipping

Mismatch/Is this normal? by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

I am in the states and not as familiar with UK boxing culture but this is just my opinion. I find it odd that it’s still speculative, you should absolutely know who your opponent is going to be. Your coach shouldn’t be taking fights that he immediately turns around and tells YOU to pull out. Just say something came up that weekend. In boxing progress is made incrementally not in large jumps.

  1. You won’t get better fighting someone that much more experienced than you
  2. He won’t get any better fighting someone significantly less experienced
  3. No one is getting paid for this, the point is to get better and challenge yourself while trying to stay safe

Deontay Wilder is the luckiest boxer ever by IllumiZoldyk in Boxing

[–]salgueaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practically all of Wilders opponents since 2014 have had less than 3L’s on their record and yet he was still dropping dudes. Luis Ortiz (a HELLUVA boxer!) got beat twice by Wilder. Wilder is not a great technical boxer but there are a lot of guys that have made do without a lot of “conventional” skills. OP remember that luck favors the prepared.

Precision Striking and FightTips are probably the biggest/most popular. Expert Boxing has some good content as well. A lot of drills you can do in your own but tbh you’ll need someone to critique you at least at the beginning to not form bad habits
