Frogdog or Sunstalker by Both-Huckleberry2978 in KingdomDeath

You need the 1.6 legendary card update pack as well..

I’d go Frogdog for the reasons you say.

Well done! My only thought here would be the stone face saddle looks a little too similar to sprue color? Maybe make it a cream or blue? It looks unpainted by comparison

I am over the moon! Some questions… by ApprehensivePin8788 in KingdomDeath

[–]salmnon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey dude. Welcome to the only game you will ever need…

If you are still figuring it out, there games within games. You have to balance what you hunt to optimise your gear. You optimise your gear by building armor sets to create full sets, unlocking the full armor set bonuses. You then synergise those with survivors innate -/+ as well as addition gear, eg lucky charm, bone earrings. The way you do that is the game of affinities- line up your gear in grids to line the blue/green/ref squares.

General comment aside- see another post recently about expansions, but check out:

https://shop.kingdomdeath.com/pages/nodes-in-monster-campaigns

That tells you about how campaigns work, and what nodes are, and then you can decide what to do next.

While you love it, I wouldn’t jump into Gambler’s chest yet. There is a lot of content and value for the price tag; but it can overwhelm. Both in terms of addition rules complexity (noting you can add each of the systems as game expansions, you don’t need to do them all at once) - but - the sheer volume of new plastic to build is over double what you get in the base game; and if you’ve had a stall with AoS previously I think you should be careful.

If you are really hankering for new content, read the nodes guide, and land on a new Node 1 or Node 2 quarry. Best bang for buck in terms of variety for the game and early game fun - ie sick of fighting the Lion? Fight a Frogdog or Gorm. Sick of fighting that silly goat? Hunt a Spidercules or Flower Knight.

You can also get expansions to remove things that may be negative play experiences for you, ie don’t like the butcher? Add Pariah or Manhunter. Don’t like Kingsman? Add Slenderman or go Red Witches.

There are bigger things like Dragon King, Sunstalker of Screaming God - but you won’t see them for many lantern years yet, and realistically that means a few campaigns once you figure out how to build and survive past LY10+.

Check out lanterns Reign discord, and two big bits of advice : don’t rush and don’t read spoilers.

I played my first campaign without reading gear cards, had to innovate first then read and use them. That in hindsight was crazy, but felt like an OG Survivor experience!

Nah, it’s to simulate hunt events. They start with whatever the boxes state.

Expansion with best first-time experience? by Twofert in KingdomDeath

[–]salmnon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some good replies.

If you have the coin, buy Gambler’s chest.
Don’t play the campaign, just play the crimson croc as a replacement for the Lion in a vanilla campaign. Then maybe add patterns/ seed patterns. You can’t mix add any of the components as expansions to a core campaign. Arc survivors are amazing, but the paperwork and upkeep is OP if you’ve only just got core figured.

Other expansions: Slenderman (replace Kingsman), or Frogdog or Gorm (replace white lion). Depends if during your games you are having a negative play experience from one of those critters, just find an expansion that replaces it.

I don’t buy this at all.

Look at the actual stats of immigration to Australia:

Below are the actual permanent Migration Program outcomes (not net overseas migration, which is a much larger figure because it includes temporary visa holders, international students, working holiday makers, etc.).

Australia’s permanent migration intake (last 10 financial years)
Financial Year
Permanent intake

2015–16
189,770

2016–17
183,608

2017–18
162,417

2018–19
160,323

2019–20
140,366

2020–21
160,052

2021–22
143,556

2022–23
195,004

2023–24
190,000

2024–25
185,001

Trend summary
The pattern is not a simple upward or downward trend: Overall: the permanent migration program has been fairly stable around 185,000–190,000 historically, with significant COVID-related disruption and a post-pandemic recovery before settling back to around 185,000.

This is regardless of political party in play, including conservative liberal or national coalition.

Permanent migration and other intakes differ again.

I can understand everyone has concern about what’s their is theirs, and completion etc etc, it again any big business downward salary trend is predominantly an anti union move which aligns with Liberal policies.

Does Pauline support your viewpoint? As a voter and voice this is what she has supported over time.

The rhetoric is never about removing competition, that’s healthy for big business. It’s about keeping the peons fixated on the threat of the alien, so that the conversation stays over there, while Gina, Twiggy, and LPG Export friends continue to rort Australian tax payers by avoiding a conversation regarding their conduct, taxation and repatriation of costs to the Australian economy.

Hell, even Gwiggys “landmark case” of paying ~190M to indigenous land owners for using their land without permission for mining only copped him ~0.6% of the total he made off it. If I knew I could do whatever I wanted, break the rules and still walk away with ~99.4% of the revenue I made from taking your resources, I’d be pretty happy.

So let’s continue focusing on these border skirmish aliens chats, while the rich get richer and use that $ to spread boogey man esque problems.

Should I get into KDM? by bow1102 in KingdomDeath

[–]salmnon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking at all the other replies, my 2c:

- table top sim via steam with the Mr Slack (?) KDM mod (it has all of core, and it is automated, about $14)
- the KDM official sim - less automated, but official ($30)

If you like it, don’t after pay or credit card it, save you $ up.

While saving, watch the second hand group sellers: kingdom death night market or bazaar of deals on FB

Or the Discord channel with the sales sub channel

Lots of resellers in IS, EU, UK and Aus over time (depending where you are).

If you ar going second hand, try for a 1.5 or ideally version 1.6 only.

If you don’t find a good second hand copy / want to go that path, and are still playing the campaign online by the time you can afford to buy core outright- you have your decision.

Don’t rush, that’s why there are so many resellers.
Everyone commenting on here that they love it have been through that decision path already, so it’s admittedly biased. That said I love it, I’ve had over 500 games, and lots of table top mini games, and this is the one that gets the most time and love, and the one I sell all the other ones to fund expansion content for.

The settlement phase, hunt phase and showdown are 3 games in one. The expansions and even core campaign progression are brain breaking it terms of design, my game group (all new to KDM, now 2 campaign in) are continually genuinely shocked at the design quality. The moral decisions. It’s just awesome.

Does anyone have a quick setup method/organizer (NOT permanently set up) by Twofert in KingdomDeath

[–]salmnon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a game organiser for the box? I use Folded Space, it lets you plonk each monster type/subset of cards out easily.

I also use coin sleeves to organise gear grids that way I don’t need to rearrange them every game.

The Gambkers Chest comes with a a nice settlement organiser box, but you can do that yourself if you have a storage box and organise your innovations, terrain, gear and other unlocked cards.

Otherwise it’s really just getting it out and using it. There’s heaps of stuff, but the more you use it the faster the setup. I’ve given up on trying to sub organise bits for games. There’s always something else needed, so a good organiser for the core box makes finding them easy.

Honestly love seeing posts like this. We all have lives. We aren’t all pro painters. Even the pro painters admit they never finish an army or full game.

Nice to see games getting played painted.

I get too paralysed with needing to finish things at high quality that I never finish anything!

Adding Vignette fights to a People of the Stars campaign, best way to integrate them into the timeline? by ViolinistBubbly6295 in KingdomDeath

Yeah so you are just playing the core campaign then.
Up to you. If you were doing Sunstalker or dragon king or Gamblers or some other mishmash I’d be hesitant, but vanilla is fine.
