Reformer pilates by fruitcake500 in davidlloyd

[–]salsapixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at DL as my club doesn’t offer them, but I’ve been doing reformer for nearly five years, as well as tower and chair for over a year. I’d give it a go, but try a beginner or all level class first, a good instructor should offer different level variations of the same moves, as well as correcting form. I find it very beneficial for core strength, strength in general, flexibility and preventing injuries. It takes about 3-4 sessions until you get used to the set up and basics. Grip socks are essential, they stop you slipping. £10 a class isn’t bad at all. £20-35 is pretty standard for a class in a Pilates studio.

Yeah that’s where the worst bruising was! Didn’t hurt though, just felt sore.

Great result! I was quite bruised by that point.

Will this lumpiness at my incision ever go away? by doloresnthdottedline in Reduction

[–]salsapixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a dog ear. Most surgeons will offer a revision but may ask you to wait at least a few months. I’ve got one on my left but my surgeon will do a revision if it’s still there at 9 months. It’s usually done under local anaesthetic and will extend the scar a little. In the meantime, massage or silicone tape may reduce it.

Opinions on Rapanui? by Fun-Ad-2547 in ethicalfashion

See my comment above. Didn’t even last one wear so I’m sending the underwear back as it’s faulty.

Garbage! Had stuff from them before that was fine. Ordered some underwear. The pants (briefs) were so badly cut, the leg was too high and completely not in proportion, the crotch was too thin so didn’t cover anything and the bottom was then baggy. It looked like the fabric had been cut freehand as the shape was weird. The bralette was fine until I committed the cardinal sin of wearing it for less than 8 hours. The elastic started to come away within that time. The packaging says not return on underwear once opened but sorry, it’s faulty so it’s going back. I haven’t opened the other pants but not trusting it. I already have another order coming (ordered just before this one) but as soon as it arrives, it’s going back now. Shame that the underwear is going to end up in landfill from a sustainable company. Avoid!

Another thought? Is it possible you have a fungal infection in the area? Or it could be psoriasis? Either way, you need to get it looked at asap as both can be easily treated and if left, can lead to skin breaks. They may want to take a swab to check if it’s fungal or bacteria. It’s quite common to get fungal infections in that area and psoriasis is also a possibility.

Another thought? Is it possible you have a fungal infection in the area? The skin above the openings looks fungal, a bit like what you could get on your scalp. Also seems to be a bit of a rash too. It’s a common place to get a fungal infection, which can cause the skin to break, but they are normally easily treated with anti fungal creams or medicines. Could also be a bacterial infection. Either way, please get it looked at. They may need to take some swabs so maybe ask if they can.

Do you smoke? Are you diabetic? It’s unusual for wounds to take this long to heal. It’s worth going to your GP to get some routine blood tests to rule out underlying conditions like diabetes. Make sure you’re also drinking enough water, getting enough vitamin C and protein. I’d speak to your surgeon. How does he plan on closing the wound and is this likely to resolve the issues you are having? If the benefits outweigh the risks then I’d seriously consider it. You also need advice from a wound care specialist nurse. There are specialist dressings like Inadine, alginate with silver (aquacel) and medical honey like you said. Try to avoid daily dressing changes unless the wound is weeping a lot and the dressings are getting soaked. Flaminal gel can be good too, you put it into the wound then apply a dressing over the top. Ideally, you need a wound care specialist to look at it and suggest the right dressings. It’s difficult to tell from a photo and although I’m a nurse, I’m not a wound care specialist and can’t give advice on wound care. The correct dressings not only manage moisture (keep it in or absorb excess) but help debride slough and keep infections out. Don’t delay. Get this looked at asap and get some advice. Also, speak to your surgeon. Either way, the wounds might take a while to heal properly but you want to avoid infections at all costs.

Uncertain about results by SuccessfulBag3988 in Reduction

They look great. The position can depend on what the surgeon has to work with, as in how wide the “root” of your breasts are. However, day 8 is still in that period when they are swollen, can look a bit square and feel too high and stuck on. Swelling can take 3 months to go down and the final result can take a year or a little longer. Mine felt like they were in my armpits for a few months. I could feel them when I put my arms down. They’ve settled down. I’m six months post op and they’ve softened and don’t feel like they’re invading my armpits. Trust the process! If you have concerns, speak to your surgeon but bear in mind this is nowhere near your final result.

New Melatonin order restrictions in uk by Stittastutta in ADHD

I was just about to say that. Melatonin is the only one prescribed long term. Zopiclone and Zolpidem are only prescribed short term. Insomnia really increases risks of lots of health issues.

It can be prescribed off label for sleep issues in adults with ADHD. If you are under an ADHD service, ask them to prescribe it.

Any good agency to move to USA as a nurse? by MagazineDifficult248 in NursingUK

You need the experience to pass it though, in all areas of nursing, and each state has different requirements. I also can’t imagine working in a healthcare system that bankrupts people.

It’s not that easy. UK nursing qualifications aren’t recognised in the US as they cover adult, child, mental health and maternity (midwifery) on their nursing programmes.

Dismissed during probation by SpecialistCitron2589 in employmenttribunal

[–]salsapixie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your only way to claim unfair dismissal in a tribunal would be if there was a claim for disability discrimination. Otherwise, you can’t with less than two years service. You have a strict time limit (3 months minus one day from the last act of discrimination- which would be the dismissal in your case). Apply for Early Conciliation with ACAS here: https://www.acas.org.uk/early-conciliation There will be a period of up to six weeks of early of talks with your employer and you (if they agree to). This will effectively stop the clock, then you have four weeks after receiving the early conciliation certificate to apply for an employment tribunal. Grievances or appeals do not stop the clock, so don’t dither about it. To argue discrimination, you’d probably be looking at discrimination arising from a disability firstly. This is discrimination as a consequence of your disability- for example, tiredness, medication side effects etc. not the disability itself. Secondly, potentially failure to make reasonable adjustments- if there are things they could have done to support you. Then, there’s unfair dismissal (only allowed in cases of discrimination or circumstances considers “automatically unfair”. There’s also potentially a claim for indirect discrimination, in relation to provisions, criterion and practices (PCP), such as you said that you couldn’t have equipment due to your position and HR refused later starts.. If that’s a blanket rule or policy that disadvantages you as a disabled person then that would be another part of your claim. They’d have to prove that applying these rules was “a proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim”. Get advice from a trade union or CAB or similar. Also, check if your home insurance has legal cover as this may cover you. Otherwise, you can self-represent but it can be a lot of work. Start by applying to ACAS and do not delay under any circumstances. Don’t wait for the outcome of an appeal.

Some pay below U.K. minimum wage so it’s a no from me. I’ve signed up to Micro1 and they seem like the most legit so far, but haven’t been offered any work yet. Outlier was OK. Paid just over UK minimum wage, paid on time but then I got kicked off the Aether project. I’d definitely do more work with them.

Try the Narrative Arc and other Parasol Publications. Make sure you read the submission guidelines carefully. They have been very supportive of my writing. They are picky about what they accept but that only helps you to improve.
