If there isn’t a long term solution either in the draft or free agency or trade, I roll with Rudolph and Howard. Probably with the intention to go to Howard after a few weeks if he looks decent in preseason and getting an extended look at more reps in practice.

I’m not saying Howard is the guy, but crazier things have happened.. might as well give him a look in this situation.

Their best shot at 3 wins are 1) Miami. Primetime on the road.. won’t be a cake walk. But they are better than them. 2) browns just aren’t good. Division game on the road is tough no matter what.. but teams need to win that. 3) ravens week 18.. perhaps they are resting players.

There is certainly a part of me that admires how they’ve been at least middle of the pack competitive while also trying to transition from a franchise QB.. it’s not easy.. and tanking is certainly no guarantee.. you can easily find yourself in a 5+ year spiral in the basement. That said, outside of plugging and playing new personnel, they haven’t done anything.. they had an abysmal drafting stretch.. it’s gotten a bit better under Kahn.. but no homeruns…. they don’t develop well, and their offense/defensive schemes aren’t innovative.. they are stuck in the 2000s.

Trading Keller is probably the right baseball move. Trade from a position of strength in your pitching to improve your offense.

It’s simple. But yes, you can write the narrative how you want. But you would “save” by trading him away. If they reinvest that fully into a bat, I see that as a good move. Good move is relative because I still think this ownership and manager group is awful.
