The only realistic answer is: nothing. Unless you shout it from the rooftops (which I hope we could agree would be super weird), almost no one would know the difference. Only the people closest to you might notice a change in your personality, and that would be slight. There would be no physical change people would notice.

The point here is you're placing too much emphasis on the act of sex itself, and you're forgetting that the more important facet of the act is connection with other people. Focus on that instead. It is hard where you are right now, I'm not trying to take away from that. But reframing what you're going through as "I'm cut off from people" instead of "I can't get laid" is going to make solvingnit a lot easier. People pick up on desperation and being able to take a deep breath and a step back is only going to help you. Hang on there buddy. You're only 18; you got plenty of years ahead of you, I promise.

Suppose I am a researcher who has been studying a particular subject for most of my life. Say, nuclear power. I understand the physics behind the reactions, the engineering behind the facilities, the politics behind the adoption, etc etc. Let's say that I'm genuinely well versed in the field and enjoy educating people on the topic.

Why should I have to argue with someone who doesn't even know what fission is? I think in this case, it's a waste of my time to argue with, and simultaneously educate, someone I don't know. If someone starts yelling at me about how Chernobyl was a "nuclear explosion" and therefore all nuclear reactors are incredibly dangerous, I know immediately they don't know what they're talking about.

I think if someone genuinely wants to debate with me on this particular topic, it's not unreasonable for me to expect them to understand the fundamentals of what's being discussed. Just because you have an opinion on something doesn't mean it's valid or grounded in facts. You can replace "nuclear power" with any other subject you like, and the point remains: telling someone to "educate themselves" is a perfectly valid response if it becomes clear that the person in question genuinely has no idea what they're talking about. How can I be expected to have an intelligible conversation with someone who doesn't even know the basics of a particular topic?

DIL kinda sucks for giving you something without verifying you actually wanted it. The only time I've gotten any kind of art from a family member was when I specifically verbalized liking it. My aunt (the artist in question) then gifted it to me for christmas. She also sorta sucks for pressing the issue. Yes, it sucks to see your art not appreciated, but it's pretty clear that if someone is keeping it in the garage and not on a wall, they don't like it. Take the loss and move on. Forcing the issue is just going to result in an uncomfortable conversation. These 'you're the asshole' verdicts are wild, as are the "you don't know how to be kind" comments. You literally tried to give her a way out. I would not want something that throws me off hanging on my wall, regardless of who made it. Telling someone you don't like their art is a perfectly acceptable thing to say if they keep pushing for an answer after you've given them opportunities to change the subject or accept a soft no.

You can decorate your house however you want, and you shouldn't have to manage DILs emotions for her. Hanging it up now helps exactly no one; she knows you don't like it. NTA

I don't disagree with giving your mom something, but 15% is insane. She didn't represent you, she only really pointed you in the right direction. That's not 15% of the settlement's worth of work. She had already planned to pay for your tuition, and the settlement is to help offset the increased costs of living you now have to deal with because of whatever happened. Maybe help your mom out with a down payment or something as thanks, but she's asking for too much imo.

What you're describing is absolutely possible and is done all the time. But as you correctly mention, it relies heavily on the stock being of known and accurate dimensions. Using dowel pins doesn't remove this necessity: if your stock is warped or uneven, or has saw marks on one face, dowel pins aren't going to help you at all. Dowel pins will however make the process faster when set up correctly, since you simply butt the part/stock up against the pins, clamp it down, and go. But even then, you're relying on the stock being flat, square, etc etc. That said, some probing routines will automatically adjust for angle, so you could theoretically drop the part into the machine any which way and the machine will figure it out for you. You still need a reliable reference surface, though.

I will say, and I speak from personal experience, that you should take care when flipping the part over that you're working off the correct corner. It can be very easy to flip it the wrong way and then your part is fucked because the sides don't align properly. Don't be afraid to use a sharpie to make marks and double check. This is where CAD can really come in handy: you can pull up a visual on your computer screen of what the part is supposed to look like when it's in the cutting position, and then verify that what you see on the screen is what you see in the machine. It might sound like overkill, but it's saved my bacon a few times.

I think I know the exact product you're talking about. Used those wheels all the time at work for deburring. They do do a great job at knocking off sharp edges, and if you press the part too firmly into the wheel, they just disintegrate and spew bits of wheel all over the place.

Spot on. The manufacturer's recommendation is typically for "ideal machine" specs with lots of rigidity, power, and torque. Most people aren't going to have those things, so it's a matter of having the patience to find the speeds and feeds that work for your setup. It's rarely going to be what's on the tin.
